If you have seeds, Why not recover your XRP? You can use bip39[1] or [2]. Then import in a wallet like Exodus[3] or any other wallet which supports private key imports.

I had a similar issue with a brand new out of the box Ledger Nano S that seemed to brick itself at the bootloader stage. No matter what we tried I couldn't figure it out but luckily I had brought a Trezor One with me aswell, so the person I was helping ended up with a Trezor instead. I brought the Nano S home and plugged it into my PC and it was up and running within 10 minutes... I did nothing different besides change the device it was plugged into. Try a different computer/laptop.

Hello. I am trying to update firmware on a ledger nano s. Thus far no solution has worked: Reset, restart comp, re-download manager, bootloader stays stuck 6+ hrs, recovery, nothing has worked.
I need more effective troubleshooting. Contact ASAP.

Thanks

[Ledger]
Hello,

Thanks for your reply!

We are sorry that the issue persists.

Could you please retry the process on another PC with a more recent OS like Windows 10 64 bits with another USB2.0 data cable on another USB2.0 port?

Please make sure that you close all programs on your computer and turn OFF anti-virus, VPN and firewalls, programs such as Bitdefender can hinder with the USB connection.

Then please don't forget to update your USB drivers following the video in the link here.
https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005165269-Fix-connection-issues

Please kindly try the following solutions STEP BY STEP:

Solution 1

- Open the Ledger Manager
- Plug in the Nano S
- Press left side button (the one close to the USB port)
- While holding the left button, unplug and re-plug the Nano S
- After around 5 sec, you can now release the button, wait for instructions, the update will reappear for just a few seconds

Solution 2

- Open the Ledger Manager
- Plug in the Nano S
- Press the right-side button
- While holding the right button, unplug and re-plug the Nano S
- After around 5 sec, you can see recovery mode and release the button, wait for instructions, the update will reappear for just a few seconds

Solution 3 (with your 24 recovery words on hand)

First, try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable to continue. If the USB cable is not fully inserted, the authenticity check of the MCU will return this error during the set-up process of the device. Try this a couple of times until your device boots as normal.

If this does not fix the issue:
1. Start the Ledger Live.
2. Simultaneously press both buttons three times to enter the dashboard in 'unsafe mode'.
3. After the update select "No" when asked to "Initialize as a new device?"
4. Select "Yes" when asked to Restore configuration.
5. Re-enter your 24-word recovery phrase.

If you are using Windows:
1. Open Device Manager (in control Panel).
2. Find the USB with a yellow warning sign and right click select "Update driver".
3. After the driver is updated, you can close and open Chrome browser, open Ledger Manager, connect your device and just wait.

Let us know in case you are still encountering further difficulties.

Regards! / Cordialement! / 祝好!

None of these options were effective. This may possibly be because I had “reset all” on my device and now the only application showing is “settings”. “Dashboard” is no longer installed and any connection attempts to my 2 different PCs doesn’t work.

How do I swap devices? Am I able to send ledger my device in place for another one?
Too much time has been spent on this issue.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply!

After an update or reset it is normal that your Ledger Nano S has no applications installed beside Settings.

You can proceed to install the applications you need by using the Manager in Ledger Live. You can find step by step instructions in this article.

Please do let me know if you need any further assistance.

Note: we do NOT offer phone support.

As PREVIOUSLY STATED, that doesn’t work. (See attached video).
Neither ledger manager nor ledger live is able to establish a connection with my device.

All of the solutions mentioned in your previous email have been tried.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply!

We are sorry for the inconvenience you face.

Could you please close and uninstall the Ledger Manager Chrome application on your computer and retry the process?

Could you please check if you have the Security item on the Settings of your Ledger Nano S?

What is the current firmware version on your Ledger Nano S?

Please follow the following steps to check the firmware version currently installed on your Ledger Nano S:[size]

After that it's about 4-5 more emails of the same bullshit until I decided to sell it.

I'm not "new" to crypto, but this is the first time I've communicated on forum. I've just registered for 3 separate ones to get more into the crypto community.

99% of my holdings are not on this ledger it just so happened it started to shit on me when I decided to start moving things around.
I'll never be using it again so I figured might as well sell it.

You'll just have to trust me, I'm a newbie so what? I don't know where else to sell it lol

You'll be seeing my username around all forums once I really get started.

Nice to meet you.

You can't expect to believe you in the first day and first post. especially if you're trying to dealing with something that's so sensitive like a used wallet. I guess you are probably contacted with Ledger support about your problem, maybe you can share your communication with them and people will have a clearer picture here.
I think you'll find it very hard to find a buyer here, maybe using escrow service, but I think it does not suit you so.

I will be posting pictures later when I have time; I will post them on eBay as well.

The bitcoin.com and cryptocurrency talk forums aren't as responsive.

What if the custom firmware fakes the reset process? Selling his hardware wallet like this makes no sense. He claims he is unable to use the device but he can easily recover his funds using the 12 word phrase.

Ledger offers a way to check if the device has been tampered with.

https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005321449

However the XRP should be bought/sent separately and the device wiped/factory reset.

Anyway the deal seems shady.

Sorry OP, but your offer looks fishy. Ok, let's say you're unable to install apps after firmware updates. But you have recovery phrase, why you don't use it access your funds through other Ripple wallet? And where are guarantees that you won't use recovery phrase after someone will buy wallet and before it will reach hands of new owner? And another thing - if you can't install apps, it's possible that you're selling bricked device (ok, with funds inside which can be accessed), and new owner won't be able to use it.
As I see you're selling wallet on Ebay. But it's not possible to pay with crypto on Ebay, so I'm not sure why you're posting it on Bitcointalk marketplace. Are you willing to accept crypto and use trusted escrow to protect buyer?

I will never understand people who are buying used hardware wallet. Even if it's cheaper, it's not work to risk and lose money later.

I would highly discourage people to buy a used Ledger Nano S. The main reason is that he is selling it with XRP on it, meaning he will have the recovery phrase. It's also possible to install custom/malicious firmware that will end up stealing your funds.
He posted a link to his ebay auction at the very bottom of his post.
Wouldnt the buyer be covered by ebay customer protection in some capacity?
Cant the xrp just be removed from the device once received and do a firmware reset so to get a different recovery phrase?
I have not owned a hardware wallet so not sure if a complete reset of the device is possible where it would obliterate any previously installed partitions containing anything there.

He also uses newbie account with 1 activity, no trust from previous sales. I do not recommend to buy it.

You can post the image of the Ledger here along with your username or something that provides authenticity. And please indicate on the OP if you are willing to have it in escrow or anything that provides security for you and the buyer. Your trust and activity is so low.

Hello. I’’m selling this ledger nano s because after I tried to update to the new firmware I reset my ledger and have been unable to re-install apps or do anything else with it. After about 2 weeks worth of back and forth with an unresolving customer service representative I have given up; I am just going to buy another type of wallet.  There is 733.13 XRP on this device . (See links below for proof of information on device).
If you are confident you can somehow get into the device feel free to purchase.

Current 24 recovery words included.

Thanks
