Bitcoin replaces a fiat currency. Do you think the government is going to give up power voluntarily without branding us criminals, financial terrorists, and anti-government extremists? This gives government one less purpose & takes away one of the major rasions d' etre.

Whether misguided or not, since when was the majority of bitcoin community such dedicated patriots?

More like lazy parasites who are opportunistically 'American' and gets cheeky enough to mouth off about what constitutes 'American' and 'Un-American'.

Please let us hear about how you are an expert on American civil and legal rights when your own ass is on the line for doin dumb shit

I am of the opinion that bitcoin is here to stay. If the usa government bans it, or puts together a "solution" that is worse than the problem, then bitcoin will just be as illegal as bittorrenting game of thrones, right?

From my experience of having seen retards wind up in jail a lot, police & law enforcement only enforce the fullest extent of the laws to people who are on probation or who have a rap sheet already.

Can you imagine the outrage if a clean-cut innovator gets charged criminally for ignoring what the us gov has to say about bitcoin? This letter isn't serious, it's just an example of a politician being bought by JP Morgan Chase.

What only frightens me is that the banks seem deadset on crushing bitcoin. That is what scares me more than getting verbally lambasted by a bought politician. The $30,000 is nothing compared to Joe Manchin's bundlers.

(bundlers basically collecting small donations from large numbers of people so they can fly under the radar & avoid the eligibility to be regulated by the McCain Feingold statutory amendments to the federal code of regulations, or CFR)

This is the land of wolves now & you're not a wolf
I think this is at least 50% a publicity stunt, because he knows it will get his name in the news. Other than this, i bet less than 1% of the people here would even know who Joe Manchins is.

I figured I'd point this out to those that don't automatically associate hot air with campaign donations:
JPMorgan Chase & Co            $30,550   $15,550   $15,000
Sauce:  http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cycle=2014&cid=N00032838&type=I&newmem=N

You might remember that their CEO has a very, err, similar opinion as the Senator.

Un-American ... LOL ... people should stop using that word.

I don't disagree, but it's GREAT for getting the masses onboard.

Long-ish dissection of his letter. I'd appreciate shares greatly--I think that we want to push back HARD against this letter, as a community. It's easy to blast it apart.
