It ended up going through in the end.

If I close my client there is 1 confirmation, will it still send?

yes you can send bitcoins from mtgox to other people adresses, just use the withdraw option to send them

when you send from your own bitcoin client, if the status is "0/unconfirmed" the trnsaction is not yet done, check your number of connections, and your firewall settings.

If I buy BitCoins using the site MtGox, will I be able to send those BitCoins to other peoples' addresses? Or is MtGox just a buy / sell site that treats BitCoins as an investment? If MTGox DOESNT let me send people BitCoins, which site does? I tried getting on Tradehill tonight, but it seems to be down...

Transactions are re-broacast about every 30 minutes, so try waiting a bit to see if this fixes itself.

Otherwise, could you start bitcoin with the -debug command line option and double-click the transaction? Post the output here.

I sent this at 9:03 AM PST, and now it's 4:15 PST.  I can't find the transaction on either one of these sites:

http://blockexplorer.com/
http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/

My bitcoin client clearly shows -3.40 that was withdrawn.

The status is still "0/unconfirmed".  I only have 8 connections, and turned on port forwarding to 9 connections.

Right after I "sent" my transaction, I closed my client immediately.

Should I just continue waiting or is there something wrong?  Should I leave my client open until I get at least 1 confirmation when sending?
