Just to add on what Yahoo62278 said,  others could just be scammers  claiming to have an account for sale yet they actually don't. They afe just waiting prey on anyone stupid enough to trust them.
I think no one uses this method to cheat, it's not optimal  Cheesy Everyone knows that buying an account will involve a lot of security, they won't be stupid to lose money, the escrow is always chosen for safe.
Not only on this forum, bitcointalk accounts are always available out there, intermediary trading sites. If I remember correctly, I have seen a few people selling accounts on bitify. They are expensive and have no information  Roll Eyes

There are many websites like https://selly.io/ where people are selling these accounts and I am sure these are fake accounts. There is no way to know in advance, if the seller will scam you after payment or really give you the account.

Since the introduction of merit, very few accounts attain Sr / Hero Member status and no ones sells their precious accounts.

Yes. Bitcointalk account selling on many websites. But buying an account is risky. The seller does not get caught. But the person who buys the account has a chance to get caught. And if he gets caught, his account may get tag from DT member. So those who buy bitcointalk account, they have higher risk.

The seller gets the money but the buyer will get caught eventually. The writing style changes when the buyer buys the account and starts writing in his own style. Sooner or later it will be identified. Also if an account previous owner was posting in some local section and all of sudden the new owner start posting in another language in another local section, will also indicate the change of hands with the account.

It isn't "may get tagged", but they are going to get tagged for sure. Another thing is, it's not necessary that they sell alt accounts that are bought by them or farmed only, but some are legit accounts that are lost as a way of not repaying a loan they took while keeping their account as collateral, but the lender can't put such account on sale through their real account and which is why they create a new account, either maintain it and get to Jr. Level or more and then try to sell those accounts they have in their possession.

Some accounts are hacked, some aren't. These farmers have been ranking up accounts since before the merit system was introduced. Some have been buying accounts for a very long time.

No way to know how a person acquired the accounts they're selling.
In addition, i want also to mention that the servers of the forum had been hacked back in 2015 and it was recommended for users registered before the hack occured to change their passwords unfortunetly many of them didn't so we faced a lot of lost accounts during the last five years and as the account recovery wasn't yet well implemented, many users didn't succeed to restore their accounts back and left the forum or started with fresh new ones.
In one of my local groups in facebook, someone was offering to buy 10 Jr.Member accounts and someone responded that he will create them for him. It's sad, but true .

If that hacked accounts probably the owner will appear on meta and claiming of being hacked account. I have doubt that it was farm accounts. Look at the profile of the seller account, it was created on August 16, 2017 and it recently woke up an account. Technically, that account was potentially and supposed to be a Sr. Member or Hero accounts before the merit system was effectively implemented.

I heard various cases on selling accounts, but since there's no solid proof they are still having business here in the forum.

I'd neg tagged that seller account as well.

He's trying to sell Senior and Hero account. How do they get these high rank accounts? Hacked account, or collect on another way?
