Sorry about your loss.
At least they responded and make you to understand that your funds can not be recovered and that will bring peace of mind, the only thing i do not like about the whole process is that it took more than one year to inform you about it.
That was a real problem using 3rdparty wallet aside that you dont own the private key. You will not  getting back the coin that you accidentally send it wrong.
But i know they are able to retrive thay bch since they have a control to the wallet.

Block halving is coming.
~snip~
Sorry for your loss. That's why I don't use Coinbase wallet because you don't have full control of your private keys if you sent or received coins on the wrong address. Just like what happened to you if you use other wallets like Electrum you can just retrieve the private keys and import it to any BCH wallet of your choice and transfer it anywhere you want.

And honestly, I don't believe that Coinbase can't get the private key or just transfer the BCH back to your specific wallet address they have full control of your wallet.

I got this answer from coinbase

So my 300 $ bch wrongly send to my btc coinbase wallet can’t be recovered
Hello,

Thank you for contacting Coinbase. Based on the information you provided, it seems like you have sent a specific type of cryptocurrency to the address of a different cryptocurrency. Since Coinbase does not support transactions where one cryptocurrency is sent to the address of a different cryptocurrency, we are unable to recover these funds.

You can confirm this on your end by reviewing the addresses associated with your account here: https://www.coinbase.com/addresses. For future transactions, please only send cryptocurrency to that cryptocurrency's specific address. You can always find the most current address associated with your wallet by navigating to the Accounts page and selecting “Receive” next to the cryptocurrency you want to use.

Regards,
Coinbase Support

I wouldn't give up with coinbase. It is an easy way for them to recover the wrong sent BCH/BTC. They just have to import the private key to the right wallet, because the addresses are the same. If they deny to do that, it should be worth a scam accusation.

You seriously expect Coinbase customer service/technical support to do that? They even don't want to support SegWit and use batching address even if they could do that easily and help reduce number of unconfirmed transaction and reduce tx fee.
But, since Coinbase make users confused with BTC and BCH, it's totally worth a scam accusation.

Also, i think contact Coinbase through their social media account (and Reddit as well) and mentioned how to recover the BTC is more effective than only send message to their Customer Service.

This reddit post by someone who made the same mistake says there may be hope. However that post is about sending bitcoin cash to a coinbaee bitcoin address.

For those who are like me, Made a mistake by sending BCH to my BTC address using shapeshift (not sure how it messed up) I sent an email to coinbase support and they replied an automated reply, I replied again and they sent this:

Quote
Hello, and thanks for contacting us.
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a fork created from the Bitcoin (BTC) blockchain. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Bitcoin (BTC) are different digital currencies and use different blockchains.
Coinbase has credited users with Bitcoin Cash (BCH) who had a Bitcoin (BTC) balance at the time of the fork.
If Bitcoin (BTC) is accidentally sent to your Coinbase Bitcoin Cash (BCH) address, we will be unable to recover your Bitcoin (BTC).
Likewise, if Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is sent to your Coinbase Bitcoin (BTC) address, we will be unable to recover your Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
You must use caution when sending BTC and BCH, and make sure that you are sending them to compatible addresses.
If you made a send from Coinbase and mixed up BTC and BCH, you may be able to recover those funds, but we will not be able to assist with this.
Please see our Bitcoin Cash FAQ.
We’re sorry if this caused any trouble. Please let us know if you need additional assistance.
Regards,
The Coinbase Team

I then replied again saying how multiple sources have confirmed that they have access to the funds, I need private keys etc... Now coinbase has sent me this email:

Quote
Hi again,
We are currently working on a way to credit customers who sent BTC to a Coinbase BCH address and working to credit customers who sent BCH to a Coinbase BTC address by accident.
In the future, please only sent BTC to a BTC address, and BCH to a BCH address.
I am not able to give you a time frame as to when you will be credited if you were affected by this, but rest assured we are working on it.
Thank you for your patience with us as we grow with the digital currency community.
Regards,
The Coinbase Team

I finally have gotten confirmation I will be getting access to my funds, I haven't seen anyone else post this but maybe I haven't looked deep enough.

Whats up with their customer service though. Ive since sent 2 emails to coinbase and havent heard back from them. Forget calling them too i stayed on hold for 2 hours lol. Any tips on how to get in contact with them quicker?

Because of the high volume of support tickets, Only the following are prioritized and unfortunately your problem doesn't fit to the following categories. In short you're in the lowest priority  Undecided

Our team is prioritizing only trust and safety, account lockout, and delayed payment issues. Specifically:

Account compromises
Account lockouts (password resets, 2-factor authentication, device verification, lost access to email address)
Delayed payments or orders

We are unable to prioritize other issue types at this time.

And it's also stated not to send multiple tickets as it will just delay their response.

Quote
Please submit only one ticket for your issue. Creating multiple submissions for the same issue will result in an additional delay.

The ways to contact coinbase are here: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2288496-how-can-i-contact-coinbase-support-.
The only thing you haven't tried is contacting them through twitter and according to the article, They won't be able to help with account-specific problems for security reasons. I'm not entirely sure but it should be fine if you will just be asking if they can retrieve your wrongly sent coins or not since it's just a yes or no and you will not disclose any sensitive info anyway.

If by any chance they said yes. You will still have to wait for their response in your email.

Hey so i sent bitcoin i had in my blockchain wallet to my coinbase wallet. This time tho since i saw they introduced bitcoin cash to coinbase and i saw it rising i decided to send it to my bitcoin cash wallet instead of my usual bitcoin wallet that i sent bitcoin from blockchain to. I copied the address and inserted it directly into blockchain so the address wasn't incorrect in any way and its since been sent and confirmed and its currently just sitting in that wallets address unspent... what do i do ?
Why did you send your bitcoins to coinbase's bitcoin cash wallet? Do they provide you the same address for both bitcoin and bitcoin cash? If not then you have to contact their support for that problem. If yes then there might be a delay on their end. This is a risky move because they might not help you get your coins back and you might have to pay a fee for this retrieval.
No i think the addresses are different, but similar. I read somewhere that bitcoin and bitcoin cash are basically the same so i figured it would either go through or get cancelled. Anyways whats done is done i guess ill contact support..if i had to pay a fee to get it back id gladly do that its about $1000 so i want this back.
Addresses between two things might be the same on first glance but totally they are really different which means those wont really be seen or credited into bch account on coinbase since you do sent up on BTC. They are different and been said above most likely this kind of issues would end up on not to be refunded just the case being said coinbase didn't tend to help up those users with similar issues. This is actually negligence though since they didn't instruct to do such thing.

Bitcoin and bitcoin cash are two different coins so there are different wallets for each coins. How can you send bitcoin to bitcoin cash wallets,it sounds terrible. Huh
But if we still try do do bitcoin to bitcoin cash wallets the address maybe wrong so it may return to your wallet in somedays. But next time please understand what you are doing,if you don't know ask help from the forum members because money is very hard to earn, once you lost it will hurts more.

Nope, as you can see above, Potato Chips explained what's the deal and I've checked on binance considering the address and yes, they're the same.

So you think i can get it back? Not sure what to do..I contacted coinbase multiple times but there customer service is a joke not only did they take forever to respond they didnt even answer my questions or give me a solution.

I did the same mistake yesterday. I gave my sister my Bitcoin Cash wallet address instead of my Bitcoin wallet to send me $400. I called Coinbase today and they told me unfortunately my money was lost and can't be recovered.
what number did you call

Oh my that's really quite unfortunate to hear. At least it is still your wallet which you can later on convert to BTC.

BCH is different from BTC as they are in different chains although both of them can use the same addresses as well as private keys which is why technically, you can still get your btc's back if you sent them to a BCH address or vice versa as long as you hold an access on the private keys of the address where you mistakenly sent the coins. In your case it'll be a little different as coinbase is the only one who have an access to their user's private keys so the decision is up to them if they are willing to retrieve those coins back for you.

That is why people should stop using third party wallet's like coinbase   Sad

I think you have a very slim chance of getting it back  Undecided

transferred bitcoin from bittrex to coinbase  (bch wallet)   accidentally coppied the wrong address/wallet
i spoke with them and they said lost , 15,000  gone
what a blow to the heart

Then again, to get things clear, you should still contact their support like what the above users have mentioned.

Block halving is coming.
The only thing that i think you can do now is to report this problem directly to coinbase because you send your bitcoin into bitcoin cash which is not compatible wallet in coinbase but you can be still recover it once you get the private key of your bitcoin cash wallet but the problem if coinbase can give you the private key just to recover your bitcoin from your bitcoin cash wallet..

Next time if you wanted to buy bitcoin cash use some exchanges or trading site to convert your bitcoin in to bitcoin cash you can't just send your bitcoin to bitcoin cash wallet just to get bitcoin cash.. or sending bitcoin cash to bitcoin wallet  won't worked.
