Mate, you could just send your MATIC to your binance exchange account and buy AVAX there on the trading market.
With that way, you can save more money because the transaction fee is cheaper than swapping between blockchain.
In my knowledge, you can't retrieve back your coin once you send it to wrong blockchain address.
Yes, in essence it will lose even if we make a complaint to a certain party or to the service party about the network, I don't think it can be returned because by mistake it is bad.
This is the importance of being careful and asking experienced people before acting wrongly because it is a very detrimental action, although it can still be a lesson for the future, but the regret in the heart will remain.

The transaction shows a successfully WITH the same wallet ID I have on my Binance account but never showed up as available. I'll check with binance support
crypto is a crazy thing, the more I find out, regarding the different blockchains and networks, the more I realize the less I know...
Thank goodness my mining has been making me consistent $$$

Thanks for your input
It means the coin was successfully sent but to the wrong chain so Binance will take the funds if the support refuse to help you in this situation but what you can do is to just create a support ticket and explain what actually happened, Binance returned funds to the owners on multiple occasions hopefully the luck will be with you.

The only way is for OP to contact binance customer service and ask for help, but in my opinion chances of OP getting a refund is unlikely, I've had a few cases where, like the OP, support wouldn't resolve issues related to us passing the wrong chain. Before transferring any assets on Binance, they always warn that if transferred to the wrong network, all assets will be lost and they are not responsible.

Thanks for all the input
As some of you have stated, consider it a life lesson...and I have...
Note to self, don't try to get too cute when transferring crypto...
The $500 lost will be a reminder every time I click SEND on my transactions

It is nice to have found a very knowledgeable forum/community

Thanks again

BTW, binance still claims they can't recover the funds for me...not surprising...

Cheers all...

I'm thinking I can't send AVAX from the POLYGON network to the Binance Smart Chain?
You cannot do this because both are different chain and sometimes the address for both chain are changed. Always check Network before sending any coin. The best strategy is that first send 5$ or 1$ for checking and then try all.

If so, is there any way to retrieve the AVAX?
I think Binance will recover it for you. You can contact them by clicking on Help and Support and chat with team.
I have not face this kind of Issue in Binance but Mexc one time I sent to Bsc network instead of Eth and then I contacted and they charged fee of 42$. They sent back token to my wallet address in 15 days. I hope you will get also.

Sadly, a situation like this reminds us to be always careful in sending transactions and this is so true for me who remains to be technically-challenged after many years of being involved in cryptocurrency. Just a single mistake can cost the whole thing down the drain and we could not expect big platforms (like Binance or any exchange, for that matter) to be there on our backs. I am wishing that the coins can eventually be recovered, for good.

When you wrong network sending coin I think to get refund contact support team but not have fastest respond, have see on several issues need almost 90 days to get back our money but have sent first our money as commission to get refund after wrong network sending. I will be careful when sending coin and always check with network on my exchange destination, have support with the same network or not, never hurry up when sending your coin because will be crucial when sending have been success and you wrong with network chain you can cancel your sending coins.

I'm also a beginner here, and I don't understand / don't understand it can be said that I don't fully understand your question very well, but I see you said you sent binance from a wallet, maybe you should tell them about your problem , and if you send it to your own wallet, you can open your metamask and import it again, of course you will get your money back.

if the transaction was successful and you lost your balance from metamask, the only way you have to contact the options of binance, maybe they can help you, and maybe they will give you a guide or the best solution, and I also happened to hear on the binance exchange not there is such a thing as avax polygon blockchain coin and avax coin, whether this is true or not I don't know for sure.

this is also one of your mistakes that you or maybe many other people transact in crypto, and communicate with binance options by sending messages or the like or what is said with help and support on binance, most likely you will get a feedback response from Binance's side, this will also take a little longer, you have to be patient especially.

and in my own opinion I'm also not sure whether your money will come back, polygons are now different from the BSC network, again what I said above, the only advice from me and the only way is you have to contact binance.

maybe this is my suggestion and input for the rest maybe our friends who have deeper knowledge will answer it and discuss it in more detail.

It will be complicated on their end to do this, so I have doubts that they will recovered it. So I guess this could be those coins that are lost already. Maybe this is another case of expensive lessons for someone to learn.
Actually if you think about it. He usef same deposit address on polygon to send it. Even its on avax c chain or bsc network the address is identical, meaning they did received the token avax on their exchange counterpart since one address can be used to different network. But I may agree with you, that this could be hard on their part and might spend additional expenses on them.

But since you use centralize, cause there is an option of choosing network, maybe they can still recovered it however not sure if they will allow it.

Maybe this is another case of expensive lessons for someone to learn. I will admit that in the beginning I made the same mistakes, try to reach support that they were not able to help me. I said that they have all the means to do it, but according to them, they will have to touch a lot of things on their end that they are don't want to do it.

If you sent some coin to Binance exchange with wrong network you can contact Binance costumer service team, they will guide you how to get back your fund but usually you have to pay for Binance team to get back your money, ever I sent wrong coin network from Metamask to Hotbit but I have pay more than $250 to get my coins back but not process it because have lower value from my coins than fee have to pay.

Yes, there are exchanges that are willing to help, but as far as I can remember, way back in 2019, I was also in the same predicament. I contacted the exchange and they said that they are willing as long as the value or the amount is amounting to 1 BTC. So I didn't proceed because obviously the value is less than that amount. So for $500, I don't think that Binance is going to extend their hands here.

I'm thinking I can't send AVAX from the POLYGON network to the Binance Smart Chain?
Yes its not. There is no supported polygon network for the coin of avax. They only supported three of which avax c chain( metamask supported avalanche network), native avalanche chain, and binance smart chain. So if you send from polygon, then thats the problem. Probably binance is strict when you choose a different network, however, if you use wallet to wallet even what network it is, then it will be recovered since you only need to change the rpc network.

But since you use centralize, cause there is an option of choosing network, maybe they can still recovered it however not sure if they will allow it.

I did not fully understand your question. However, if you have sent binance from your own wallet and this transaction is incorrect, you should contact binance. You should tell them your problem. Most likely, they will solve your problem by paying a small fee. However, if you have sent to your own wallet on binance, open this wallet on metamask or trustwallet. My suggestion is that it would be more convenient to open it with trustwallet. You will import your wallet there and by entering the required secret key and mmneoic codes, you can open that wallet and get your money.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with tracking/reversing transactions from crypto...
I am familiar with crypto, been mining for a couple years...
Haven't been very active with other currencies until recently...
Here's my situation:

I had $500 worth of MATIC tokens on the POLYGON Network in my MetaMask wallet
I wanted to convert them to AVAX and used the SWAP function on MetaMask that "appeared" to work
I then sent it to binance.us where I already had some AVAX therefore a wallet address
The transaction was successful but never showed up in binance

I'm thinking I can't send AVAX from the POLYGON network to the Binance Smart Chain?

If so, is there any way to retrieve the AVAX?

Any help or direction would be appreciated

I'm thinking I'm sunk and the tokens are gone?

Thanks in advance
If the transaction was confirmed then only binance can help you retrieve your funds, try contacting their support they will listen to you eventually if you make enough noise.

To be honest, you have to think the possibility that it might not be return to you, sorry to burst the bubble. But you can still ping the support and ask for help, but then again, worst case scenario is that they are not willing to help and reverse the transaction. There are cases that Binance do help, but it's a rarity, I mean if it involves huge amount of money, maybe they are going to help, just saying.

if the transaction is successful and you lose your balance on metamask then all you can do is contact binance and give the right reasons so that the team from binance can provide the best solution because each market has different rules and hopefully your balance can be adjusted and returned by the binance team.

This is one of the few mistakes that people  make when transacting crypto. The only solution to this is to email or chat binance support. I have heard of cases where they help people recover their funds in this kind of  scenarios but it usually take time. So you need to be patient.

Yep, I've already considered it lost...Binance support says they have no control over it
Technically, it is possible to recover a fund that has been sent on the wrong network, since they had control of the private keys, sometimes it is just not worth the effort for them to do it.

Ideally, if you own the addresses on your own wallet, you should be able to recover them on your own. But anyway, the only thing you can do now is to take it as a lesson.

Some references regarding wrong deposit:
Binance.US is not liable for any losses if you deposit an unsupported asset, deposit an asset using an unsupported network, or transfer an asset to an address not owned by Binance.US.

Please refer to Binance.US’s List of Supported Assets before transferring any asset to your Binance.US account. For any deposits or withdrawals, we recommend initiating a small test transaction and confirming that the asset reaches your wallet before sending larger amounts.

I'm thinking I can't send AVAX from the POLYGON network to the Binance Smart Chain?

On the Binance exchange there is no coin Avax polygon blockchain, and Avax coins will of course not enter your Binance exchange. The only solution is to contact the Binance service. If it is possible to return. In general such cases cannot be resolved, and coins are considered lost.

Yep, I've already considered it lost...Binance support says they have no control over it...I'm still fighting with them. This is one of the problems with crypto, granted I should have been more careful when sending cross chain, but the fact there is generally very little recourse with the whole thing and not much of a road map out there...

These forums are great, should have looked at them sooner...

That being said, I'm still moving forward with investing in crypto in many ways...

I'm not sure your funds will return, you should be more careful in sending, as the basis of polygons and BSC are already different networks,
try to send a ticket to kebinace with details of the chronology, hope your funds will come back even though it is most likely 0% to return,

Why are you looking for Avax on Binance? Did you send them there? After you made a swap to MetaMask, your Avax coins were credited to your MetaMask wallet on the Avalanche network. You need to add the Avalanche network to the MetaMask, you can use this service for this: https://chainlist.org/ In this network you will find your Avax.

AVAX c-chain, BSC, MATIC are EVM compliance and they are using the same address like ethereum. So, one address can be used in all of them through changing the RPC to connect into the blockchain.
If you are sending your matic to the c-chain address that have the same address like matic and it can still be received in that address caused by it was using the compliance address but the questions is whether binance can give it back to your or now. As far as i know binance as exchange site when issuing the new address for its users and it will be also storing the priv key related to that address.
it's possible for binance to give back your money

So you sent avax to binance on the wrong network? Has the transaction got a lot of confirmations already, you'll probably just have to email binance's support to try to retrieve funds.

I'm not sure on the compatibility of all the chains but if they have compatible protocols and incompatible networks then the funds will just be with binance (they may refuse or charge a fee to actually credit the funds though so you're better off being persistent with them).
