36 hours and a support ticket later, I still have not received my coins from Mt. Gox. No response from support, either.

Prior to this, I didn't understand all the dislike for Mt. Gox that I sometimes see here and other places. I'm a long-term holder, so the issues with USD withdrawals didn't concern me so much. Silly me thought that withdrawing BTC would be easy, quick, and safe. I just finished reading another thread here from just a couple weeks ago where people were having the same problem. Now I get it.

I will never go near Mt. Gox with my coins again.

to transfer bitcoins out of mtgox you need to have a verified account. this means sending them id and such.

A question I have, do you need ID verification to withdraw BITCOINS???

Possibly.  Some people have withdrawn BTC without verification but MtGox has also frozen many accounts for undisclosed reasons and required verification.  Once an account is frozen neither USD or BTC withdrawals are possible until verified.  There also is no appeal so you either verify or you never get your funds.

I'm verified with them. I have previously made many successful bitcoin transfers to and from Mt. Gox. I'm biting my nails over this because I don't know what the holdup is. I should at least see the unconfirmed transaction on blockchain.info, right?

Transaction id:

33e946c1fbabe2e041a54eb34ec0940803c102647493a12f29c30a553b0bd185

That transaction doesn't exist on the network.  The first thing to keep in mind is it is impossible for Bitcoins to be "lost" between sender and receiver.  Either the tx confirms and the receiver "has" the coins OR the tx never confirms and the sender still "has" the coins.

MtGox for whatever reason hasn't broadcast that tx (and likely other).  It may be a technical error, it may be their bitcoind node has stopped operation, it may be an anti-fraud hold but whatever the reason, while MtGox has created that transaction, no other node knows about it yet.

Simple version: MtGox still has your coins because they haven't made the network aware of that transaction yet.  You should contact MtGox and provide them the transaction id.

This was bad way of testing if the paper wallet works. Give MtGox day or two and then ask when they going to send the BTC.

Hello, apologies in advance, this is my second time posting a super-noob question about bitcoins in 24 hours.

For various reasons, yesterday I imported a paper wallet worth 5 BTC to Mt. Gox. I personally have had a good experience with them over the past couple years, although I don't trust my coins on online exchanges. The morning after I imported the 5 BTC to Mt. Gox (today), I transferred it out into a brand-new paper wallet.

I have tested using paper wallets and now understand how they work. The first few times I did this, I looked up the receiving bitcoin address on blockchain.info and immediately saw the transaction, although it might have been unconfirmed.

The problem is that when I look up the address on my new paper wallet, blockchain.info says there has never been a transaction on it and reports a balance of 0 BTC. I'm pretty sure I didn't transpose a digit when inputting the address into Mt. Gox. I also paid the transaction fee to speed up the process.

Right now I am terrified that my 5 BTC has disappeared into thin air. Is the network just slow due to activity? Mt. Gox is probably slammed today. Could my transaction just be queued?
