How many connections are you showing? For it to confirm it needs to first be broadcast out to some nodes.

I sent some coins from my Bitcoin client this morning, but I shut my computer down before any confirmations had gone through.  So when I turned my computer back on 70 blocks later or so, I'm seeing the transaction in my Bitcoin client but it's sitting there at 0 confirmations.  It's been a couple hours since I turned it back on too.  What can I do to get that transaction confirmed?
Probably, the nodes that you were connected to at the time your sent the coins did not relay your transaction and it got lost.

Start your bitcoin client, and leave it running for a while. Transactions that haven't made it into blocks will be rebroadcasted automatically after a while.

Look for your transaction here first: http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/

It doesn't look like the network is backed up that much, but if more high priority transactions exist on the network yours might be delayed. If you don't find it there first then it may be a problem with your wallet, try a rescan.

I'd del the bk files and do a rescan, and then redo the transaction.

Hi,

I'm no expert, but since you say that you shut your computer down I'm assuming that the transaction hadn't been broadcasted to a node that 'listened' to it. In which case those nodes wouldn't broadcast the tx so it can inhabit a block. I usually wait for at least one confirmation, once its in the chain, job done, basically. There are a mumber of reasons for this, but I hope another member can shed more light on this.

I hope that explains a bit to you.
