It's lost forever. Coinbase doesn't do support when it comes to accidental sending of tokens/coins to wallets that you shouldn't be sending to, it is in their terms and services I think. Almost all exchange do this. I advise you to think about life because this is probably a karma that happened to you because of scamming.

that's why i use Blockchain instead of Coinbase.
Blockchain give us private keys, at least for bitcoin, while Coinbase not as like normal banks.

Unfortunately, that's one of the main limitations of using CEX exchanges that we don't have full control of our funds on our address. When using CEX exchange, we always have to be dependent upon the support from those CEX exchanges.

As the title says i sent USDT to ETH address from Coinbase i own and funds didn't arrive of course but now i can't retrieve them and support is saying that in my region they can only support self help so no help from them.
If i had private key i could somehow retreive it but i see they don't provide that so i don't know what to do...any help would appreciated. Thanks
I am not very sure about Coinbase, but I know for sure that blockchain.com allows users to send USDT to their Ethereum address, but that’s only ERC-20 based Tether, if you send a bitcoin based USDT (that’s the Omni tether) you’re not going to receive it.

But this is not really the same for every exchange, some exchanges will tell you to make sure that you’re sending USDT to your accurate Tether address on the exchange. And to avoid confusions like you have done now, if you want to receive USDT, please go to your wallet and copy from USDT as preferred address, don’t use Ethereum address when you’re no sure how your exchange works.

If you have sent the funds to coinbase.com then unfortunately your funds are lost because AFAIK they don't support USDT 'coz they have their own stable coin known as USDC but, if you have sent it their non-custodial wallet there's a chance you can retrieve your private key.

What does non custodial wallet means?
I sent it to the eth address from coinbase

So, your country is on their restricted list ? Did you read about their terms and conditions before you use it ?
They must be provided the list of restricted countries for their platform, unfortunately your country is one of them.
Now you can't do anything because you don't have private key for the address that received your usdt, and hopefully they help you

This USDT is lost untill they will add support of erc20 tether or even maybe forever, sorry. There are a really small chance that coinbase will help you but this chance is too low

I feel sorry for losing your USDT mate, in regards for the USDT amount we don't know yet because you didn't share it, by the way, my question is why did you send your USDT on Coinbase address? is it an honest mistake of just simple negligence usually most of Exchange wallet if they supported the coin/token it has its wallet for example if USDT token the name of that token address was still USDT (ERC20/TRC20/Omni) so it was written in deposit address section including a warning that deposit only the said coin/token or else it will not be credited. for that reason its impossible for you to recover your USDT otherwise Coinbase Pro will help you recover it.

where should i contact coinbase pro etc? I tried contacting them but they said they offer limited support...it was not much(well) around 300$. Because my friend sent that amount and i told him i can use USDT too but he thought the ETH address i gave him long before is the same for USDT so he didn't think twice and sent to that eth address...when i said wait i need to give you new address for USDT he said well i already sent..so that was the mistake..
Anyhow how can i contact coinbase pro for this or any other method of contacting them because on Reddit they replied and told me they can't do anything about it...

Get to their support ASAP. And give a complete info like transaction hash
He just can't, it's stated on their rules that they won't recover wrong transfers.
Thanks for all the help...they responded back on email/twitter saying that they can't do anything and they are not responsible for this..so i guess funds are lost forever :/
I'm sorry with your loss but it's firmly stated on their rules. Some other exchange might help you retrieve the funds but it's Coinbase and they have a rule that if it's not their fault, no help.

Yeah i guess so :/
Tether customer support also replied to keep this transaction ID etc and if Coinbase lists Tether i can get it back
Until now I don't see them supporting USDT in their wallet probably not going to be in the near future as well so don't wait to retrieve it, better contact the coinbase again to return it because if they wish then it is possible.

Yeah i don';t think they will add it so the USDT is sadly lost :/
If somehow i manage to find solution i will update here but i don't know really bad situation

There's no other way to retrieve it than contacting coinbase, the address is in their control but unfortunately problem like this usually ignored because, well they assume that it's the users' fault not theirs and there must be some kind of complicated process if they really able to retrieve it. Best way is as mentioned above keep contacting them and save transaction ID if they in the future accept usdt which honestly have a really small chance to be accepted there but hopefully it will.

I think you should write support request instead of posting topic here. Coinbase is a major exchange and its branding is well established
look , he already write this at the coinbase support team as he qouted and recieved adequate reply but he doesnt seem to be succesful on recovering his coins .

i know coinbase is one of those reputable site but any issue can still affect thier reputation if ever they arent going to resolve it properly  .  having a private key wont still resolve his problem because the coin were sent to the wrong address ( usdt to eth ) , i dont want to say this but the coins is lost forever .

The decision is with Coinbase if they will list it. I've found this note from them.
Please note that Coinbase does not support USDT — do not send it to your Bitcoin account on Coinbase.

You can do nothing about that as the wallet's control has owned by coinbase. if they have already stated that if they will not help you in this case caused by it's your fault and you can do nothing to get back your money. As far as i know if some people have faced the same problem like you too.
Forget your money as it can't be accessed again by you.

I hope that you can learn something from here to do a double check when you are trying to send anything

There is nothing you can do about this because the tokens is now in another address, CoinBase is in the best position to do thid, since they are no one in control of the address you sent to tokens to. I will advice you to keep sending them message maybe they will have change of heart, this is one thing I love Binance for their support is the best in the space by far

If there was only some magical way of exracting private key using only ETH Address hehe that would be great but if that was possible then everyone could be billioners i believe

Coinbase accepts Tether, look at this website: https://www.coinbase.com/price/tether. Are you sure that you have sent the correct USDT? I mean USDT that comes from this smart-contract address: https://etherscan.io/token/0xdac17f958d2ee523a2206206994597c13d831ec7? Because there are so many fake USDT tokens that are used for shady activities.  Roll Eyes
He send USDT to coinbase ethereum's address and as far as I know which doesn't support any other tokens other than ethereum so there is no way to retrieve this unless the coinbase willing to help OP.

It would be better if you provide us the transaction hash on Etherscan, so we can check where is the problem. Did you pay enough GAS to send the transaction? When you send ERC-20 tokens, you need to pay higher fees to process your transaction. Currently around 5USD.  Wink

OP this must really hurt, seeing your funds get stuck in the wrong wallet, knowing you can get help from the coinbase customer care but because of your region, any form of help is denied,  very uncomfortable situation indeed, i really feel sorry for you, I sincerely hope there is a little hope in regaining your fund.

Is there some way to get private key from my eth address? Like tool or something?
Since i am pretty sure now that coinbase will not even reply to the ticket...etc
Yes you can if you use Coinbase wallet not "Coinbase" nor "Coinbase pro". Because Coinbase nor Coinbase pro is custodial wallet (exchanges)

Use BIP39 [1] fill your seed and enter the derivation path, you'll get your private key. For more information read this Can't access my money because of the derivation path

Thanks for the help but i was using Coinbase, not coinbase pro or coinbase commerce...so this bip39 etc is not good for me? Apparently all my usdt is lost?

Yes you lost it, how much USDT was sent to coinbase?

If that is really hug amount then you can request them via social media attention like in twitter or in reddit so they may take exclusive actions but the chances are really low.

Alternatively you can use iancoleman website

Remember that you must do this procedure in iancolemun website (https://iancoleman.io/bip39/) it is safer to do it offline. Download the website and run locally.

Once you recover your private key, just import that private key to a wallet that support USDT.

I would use Coinomi mobile version. I like it, it is easy to use and has support to all those common coins.

I tried asking them but i have no where to send them again...support says in my country it is limited(region) and they can't help me...and twitter they don't reply, and other means are non possible... Chat doesn't exist...phone also doesn't exist.. So i don't know where to ask them.

it is really bad that i can't get my private key for my ethereum wallet on coinbase without asking somehow them but again asking them is pain in the a##

if the support will not help you with your funds then there is no way to retrieve your USDT coinbase is the only persons that have access to your account.

If they don't want to do it then forget about it since there is no other solution that you can do than continue asking them to send it back to your provided address.

I've saw many issues regarding sending to wrong address especially on Coinbase. Coinbase has already stated they can't recover any funds about this issues, so it's look like you lost your token. Coinbase didn't scam you... but it's your fault.

What happens if I use the wrong Wallet address to send or receive crypto?

While Coinbase Wallet gives you complete custodian control over your digital assets, this also means that we're not able to recover any funds sent or received to an incorrect address. We strongly suggest that you double check addresses before sending or receiving crypto through Wallet.

The only one that could help is coinbase. Write to them properly of what that amount mean to you. They ofcourse have the private key of the ethereum address and can retrieve the coins but you also need to provide them the proof of ownership of those coins. It also depends on the amount involved. Anything below $1K would be more burden than fruitful for both you and the coinbase team. If it's a significant amount and the support is not supportive, try writing to coinbase employee explaining yourself to get the attention.
