Well i heard lot of ppl use a chromebook or separate computer for doing financial and banking transactions.  So wouldn't this be more the same but much more important?


Do you think a separate computer should be used solely for crypto?  My thoughts are you should use your main computer for your financial and email and daily things. 


But anything else... like imagine streaming sites, that should be a completely separate computer.  Thoughts on that?  I mean youtube is safe for you main computer but not streaming etc.  I feel like using a chromebook for anything else like downloading files/videos and streaming makes more sense than using it for a financial computer etc.

I think that OP knows what to do with it, this thread is 5 years old and I think that there isn't nothing new to advice to OP. That is like the basics of not getting broke easily, diversifying your storage to make sure that when one is compromised, you won't worry about your whole wallet getting stolen.

I often find myself thinking about a simple thing; If you have gold or anything valuable, you're locking it up in a safe. Same with money, you don't keep it all in your pockets, you store it in the bank. You should do the same with bitcoin, either get a dedicated machine or keep it stored in a cold wallet.
Why risk it?

Bitcoin wallets store the private key(s) which are the only source to manage your btc wealth and are lucrative targets for external attackers. Losing possession of the private key, an external attacker basically owns the BTC in the compromised wallet. Managing bitcoin wallets offline, in isolated air-gapped computers, it has been suggested to increasingly reduce private keys leakage that can lead to theft.
If the above holds true, I would never suggest anyone to deal with bitcoin on a device, computer, mac, phone you name it which is also used for other activities.
That is not very wise. There are many guides available on how to properly manage bitcoin privkeys, search for them.

OK, I know its a bit outdated but Tails OS can help you with that.

A good solution for you will be Virtual machines. You can install VMware for virtualization and a Linux virtual machine for porn purposes... that way if you get any kind of virus or malware it would be easy to delete the virtual machine and install a new one. Even you can clone the virtual machines, that way you don't have to install the SO each time you think you get hacked.

Another computer is a good solution too, but virtual machines is the free way to solve it.

same i rarely use my computer because it gives me a pain in my neck and back of long sitting doing works but i use my smartphone the most for everything .
no need a seperation for me because i know what im doing , im not installing random softwares and i have helpful extensions  in my browser to protect my device whenever im visiting nsfw sites and im zipping my important crypto files with passwords.

If you plan on buying a cheap laptop that has minimum specifications, it might be able to run Linux on a Virtual machine but that would mean sacrificing the memory that it has for something that was meant to run the installed OS. It would create a new PC within your Laptop but if your fine with that, you can do that and avoid threatening malwares that might affect your computer but with the advancement of bad actors (hacktivists, phishing, and other cybersecurity stuffs), it still might be better to personally avoid known websites that would render your laptop useless.

On my part, I am not using a different device for cryptocurrency and my personal life, I am using one device for both things, but sometimes I also use my computer as well, I just always be careful on everything I am doing on my phone like installing the application and I always have the anti-virus on it. There would be no problem if you know that your device is free from viruses, as that is one of the reasons for your account being hacked.

Of course, having separate technical devices for working with cryptocurrency and watching videos is best. If viruses appear, it will be very difficult to remove them. Sometimes the removal of virus-infected programs does not help, because they can be in system files and their removal is either impossible, or will lead to incorrect operation or even shutdown of the device. Resetting to factory settings also does not always help, and even then we sometimes lose some information. It will be much easier not to risk it.

I don’t care how good your anti virus is OP or how careful you are. Do not store your main bitcoin stash on the same device you do every day browsing & work on. I don’t want to see you as another poor bastard who gets hacked & loses their life savings. There are too many sophisticated bitcoin thieves around desperate for free bitcoin, don’t be another statistic.

Keep your bitcoin offline or if you have to store it on a laptop don’t use that machine for anything other than bitcoin. No downloading torrents or files from random shady sites.

Does anyone know if getting a new cheap windows laptop and then installing linux would solve all these issues?  By that I mean using it to web browse sites that might have virus/malware and watch/stream porn and tv etc?


Would using linux on a windows laptop solve this issue?  Also i have used a chromebook to do this but issue is it doesn't have much space and I want to download videos etc.

To answer your question of to why do we still need to separate our financial information to our personal wants using a different devices even if we are still using the same connection. Yes, it is true that even if we do so have different devices our internet connections are still very fragile to any viruses. But the good thing here is that you separates your financial information into other device in which as long as you did not connect that device to your broadband while downloading then that is merely safe.

I like to add to this.  If i were to get a separate computer to do things such as download porn/stream tv shows and sites etc... what would you recommend?  A regular laptop or a chromebook?


Also someone mentioned that even if you use a separate computer... if you were to use your regular internet connection, a virus could still get to your network?  For example on the laptop i mainly use, i would be using my own internet connection.  But with the separate computer, even if its a different computer and i download porn/visit dangerous sites etc but i use my own internet... then its possible to get hacked?  So i would need to use another internet connection to download porn/stream tv show and sports etc?

Hey all.  How many people here have a computer only for their bitcoin, litecoin and everything else wallet?  Thus you only use the computer to send/receive cryptocurrency only.


Also does anyone know if a chromebook would work for this or not?  It uses OS as oppose to windows.  A chromebook is very tiny in screen but are bitcoin wallets like electrum and other altcoin wallets supported by chromebook?  Or would a chromebook not work for this?

Could you get a virus on your bitcoin wallet if you use trezor?  Or that is not possible?  Thus imagine you click on dangerous links etc.

All of the things you listed are possible.

I've never had a virus or a hack despite clicking on any old shit and downloading terrabytes of stuff. If someone was able to do it then I'm sure they would've. I've been jammy no doubt.

Back in the day I did leave private keys on the same computer before I shaped up. Now it's all on a machine that'll never see the internet again. There's really no excuse not to. What possible reason is there for taking the risk when it's so well known?

My suggestion is to have only a paper wallet for cold storage.  This is coins that you will NOT be moving around on a regular basis.  For the coins you want to move regularly, I'd get a hardware wallet.  This requires the person creating a transaction to have physical access to the hardware wallet to send anything. 

As for downloading potentially harmful content, I'd use a virtual machine for the downloads regardless of whether you do crypto.  There are some very sophisticated viruses that can get themselves out of a vm into the host computer, but they are usually targeted (the hackers are specifically attacking YOU) because they are so difficult to create.

Are there people that actually download torrents or porn on the same computer and never had these issues?   The other thing is i read of ppl getting their bitcoin account hacked etc when they downloaded electron cash etc.  But the other thing im curious is are there links that people can post whether its on this site or any other site where clicking it can infect your computer with malware and take your bitcoin?  Thus imagine you download on someones link or signature or whatever it is.  Is that all it takes for your bitcoin wallet to get hacked?  Or that would not be possible unless they know your password for your bitcoin wallet etc.  However, couldnt they easily do this since i read there is something called keystrokes where if you type in your password for electrum or any other wallet, they could do this easily?  However if you copy and paste your password could they still know it?  I mean there are lot of sites not just like this one but say on youtube where ppl would post some link and click on it.  Would clicking some link like that on youtube from the youtube comments possibly infect your computer where your bitcoin or any other altcoin wallet is at risk?

you are making it too hard on yourself. of course you can buy a cheap laptop or even a second hand one and then buy a simple DVI cord to connect the laptop to your main PCmonitor or even TV if it is supported to have the benefit of big screen.

but i don't get why you are resisting just using a simple live Linux on a DVD?

If you have the money, go for it. If not, it's fine.

The other option would be if you could download the Tails OS, which can be booted from a DVD or a USB Memory stick or external media. Every time you reboot, it starts with a fresh OS, so keyloggers and viruses cannot be stored. It keeps no logs of your activity, so that is a added bonus and it comes with the Electrum Bitcoin Wallet pre-installed.

I would also suggest separate computer for financial and personal. Because internet is full of virus, wormware, and so on so visiting any unsafe site could cost you a heavy load on your wallet. So better invest some extra money and get a low end pc just for managing financial business. It would be super safe.

hey guys.  Yes i know many people cannot buy another laptop.  But for the laptop for porn, obviously that laptop i want a very cheap one.  Thus if i have an old laptop from many years ago that i no longer use and that probably isn't worth more than $200, well that surely is good enough.  Or its a laptop thats worth $80, thats good enough.


But i don't have an old laptop because my old laptop broke.  The max i would spend on a new laptop for porn would probably be $300 i think.  I thought chromebook seemed to be best idea since its under $200 and because its new but screen is very small and there is not much space.  Because say i buy it for porn, eventually i can sell it back and it would be in pretty good condition.  Wouldn't i probably get half of it back etc?  Thus the chromebook only cost $100 or so etc.  But i read video watching isn't that good though.  I would connect it to external monitor but many times i would to have it by itself.

Having a separate computer for financial dealings is good idea, but not everyone is able to buy two laptops, from my point of view no need to have two computers, you can download some programs which will protect your laptop from any threat, even they will tell you when you click suspicious link or download suspicious file, I recommend malwarebytes, I also use 360 total security as additional option.

You will get either virus or malware with time, because of watching things like that. Neither good antivirus, neither virtual machine will help. Nowadays there are very developed viruses and malware, so you need very experienced computer man, which can suggest you the right way - and it is not easy. 

i will suggest you to keep seprate computer or pc system . because many porn sites are filled with junk of viurs and can steal your data . so keep separate system for separate business .

Our computer in always vulnerable to hackers so it's best to way to keep separate computer for bitcoin/financial and  for personal. Having separate computer will make us secure at latest from hackers.

Even good anti-virus programs sometimes don't stop all the viruses. They definitely do help, but OP probably already has a anti-virus. Most people get one as soon as they purchase a computer.

Just install a good anti-virus program and check your PC more often.

You can use a virtual machine or a sandboxed browser.Just doenlaod and install Sandboxie.

Bitcoin related malware can be really nasty.

I've never heard of anyone that uses two computers for daily tasks.
There are viruses that can do that, and if you want to be completely secure, then getting another internet connection might not be a bad thing.

In my early times I did some faucet typing.
I used a seperate computer for that without any flash on it. I think it was a wise choice.
After I quit faucets the computer fas set up new and is now my experimetal machine. For programming and whatever comes in my mind.
My main computer is for everything that involves data about me. Managing bank account, ebay and so on.

before when i was not on to bitcoin i do some PTC sites before and the only platform i used before was paypal and yes we do the same i also do manage all those things in the same pc. But for now  that i'm on the bitcoin idustry i do still watch x videos but does not download anymore.

i am also struggling with a similar matters at hand because i am using Windows and we all know how many security holes are in windows but since i can not have another PC to just use as offline i am struggling to learn linux which is hard and i feel lost

any suggestions that doesn't involve me paying anything?

Multiple antiviruses are bad idea as you said it will interfere with each other. But having antivirus and anti-malware tool is recommended.
Currently I am using standard antivirus + Malwarebytes Antimalware, you can add other programs like ADW Cleaner to this combo as well.

Can someone here confirm that using a virtual machine will be fine and no need for 2nd computer?  Because my main computer will be using everything, bitcoin, online poker, bank login etc.  And of course downloading porn from a few sites.  The thing is those videos that i download, whether its on a good computer or very cheap computer, i will only download from users who have posted a ton of videos but most importantly, have an old registered date.  Such that if someone registered for an account not that long, i will most likely not download the video.  Thus even if it was a computer i dont use anymore, i won't do that since theres a very high chance there is a virus/trojan and then i have to have laptop formatted.


Thus only downloading videos from users that seem to post a lot.


The other thing is if i do buy another laptop, what laptop would you suggest?  I had thought how about a chromebook, cost less than $200.  The thing is i can always sell it back later for probably $80 later on?  However the one thing is im not sure if chromebook can play all videos or download everything because apparently it uses the web browser only?  Also its very slow and processor is slow.  Thus the best option would be having an old laptop you dont need anymore and use it.  Can someone here give me more feedback on this?  Because i have to order a new laptop soon if thats the case.  So if i get laptop, get chromebook or get a used laptop?  I think a laptop is much better since its more space as 16gb which probably is 14gb max on chromebook is very little space.  Now if someone here can tell me they use virtual machine and download everything porn torrents etc on it and dont have an issue, then i will do this.  But when you do this, if u do get virus on the Virutal Machine, you just shut it down and power back on?  Or you still have to format it? 

when you say offline, u mean paper wallet?  The issue is i cannot do this as i do move bitcoins around.  I mean if you are storing bitcoin where you won't touch it for a long time its different.

It is better a large majority of the time to have your Bitcoin stored offline so that you have less of a chance to lose all of your Bitcoin in a virus gets on your computer, so having at least a separate storage device is basically a must-have.

I was told in another forum that if i create a Virtual Machine, then any virus i get will not go to the other computer which is my main computer.  Is anyone here familiar with this?  I was told its like creating another computer in the same computer.  When you look at porn and download porn and sketchy links, you do this with the other OS in the system.  Once you are done, then you log out and then go into your main computer.  A few people mentioned this as well and said if you do it this, its close to impossible to get hacked.

It makes a lot of sense to physically separate financial internet activities from personal activities if your personal activities come with an increased risk of malware infection. It's advisable in general to make any financial dealings in a high security environment. Especially Bitcoin users are a very attractive target for malware, because funds can be drained directly and quickly transferred / mixed. Separating activities also improves your privacy.

Today, you can surf the web using a cheap single-board computer like the RaspPI or one of its multiple clones. The investment of less than $50 bucks makes sense, if you consider that a security breach that exposes your financial information might cost you hundreds or thousands of $$$.

i will onky say that keep your professional and personal pc separate seprate . because many pirn sites causes carder scam . if you get scammed than you can't tell who steal your deatil .

if you are willing to pay up to $300 for just a laptop to have your "financial stuff" on it why not just pay a lot less like around $100 for a Trezor wallet or even less for some of other hardware wallets or even a great deal less for just a USB Flash Disk to install a linux and Electrum on it and make an offline wallet for yourself! .

I've got computers pouring out of my arse and I do indeed use a separate laptop for anything crypto related. It looks like shit and has had the keyboard removed but it also has a brand new HDD and has been 100% reliable for many years.

You can get a perfectly good machine for $50 off Ebay these days so it's something worth considering if you're not A1 security wise.

i have a PC at home which i use for downloading torrants and watch abit of porn every now and again.  i also have my bitcoin core running on that PC and an electrum wallet that i use every now and again.  been using it for a year now and no problem.  downloading games might be different due to the amount of files needed, usually i will check what type of files i am downloading for like movies and stuff usually only 1 file.

You can never be sure about opening your bitcoin wallet there. For maximum security just download a Linux ISO (the most friendly is Linux Mint at www.Linuxmint.com) burn it in a DVD and format the laptop. Install this OS and you can do anything here, from watching porn, playing poker, using bitcoin and all kind of risky stuff in Windows and chances of you getting hacked here is extremely low compared to windows.

Another question i want to make in addition to those i replied.  Every laptop i bought online was new directly from a site or amazon.


Is there any risk in buying a brand new computer on ebay if its new and the user has pretty much close to 100 percent feedback?  Such that its unsafe to open electrum in that computer?

Porn sites are one of the worst sources of any kind of malware you can think of. You can also click on different pop up windows that can infect you even without knowing and there are also phishy links. So if you also deal with sensitive financial and personal data it is much safer to use it on a different machine (mobile, tablet). You can have good antivirus and be careful but stil in some cases that won't help either so better keep it separated.

The thing is on my main computer, I make sure i do my best to not click on sketchy links.  Thus anything sketchy, i click on the porn computer even if its just streaming a tv show or sports. 

Can you explain this?  So if electrum is set up on a computer that is clean.  Then with multisignature... can you explain this?  I do have a password where i cannot send bitcoin to unless i type in the password.  I was told this is my encrpytion.  Is this different from multisignature?


As for watching porn, I'm not talking about just streaming porn from websites.  Thus not only pornhub, xhamster and those big name sites.  But i mean the lesser known sites which look sketchy.  But most importantly, i want to download porn from users who post on some forums where those forums are not that mainstream.  For example one forum that is a porn forum where users upload lots of porn, i asked this and was told most videos in that forum doesn't have viruses and is rare.  But im talking about those forums where its a bit sketchy but i obviously wont download from a user who only has say 10 posts and created an account recently.  I only would download videos from posters who have hundreds of videos and long time users.  Does that make sense?  The streaming thing doesn't worry me that much if its a main porn site like pornhub, youporn, redtube etc but lesser known streaming sites and most importantly downing porn files from other users is a bit sketchy.  Thus i want a separate pc for all the porn download, browsing, pictures etc.  Such that if i get a virus there or whatnot, well its not that bad since it doesn't affect my my computer.  And also even if i have a virus, i probably use that computer still to download more porn etc unless the computer is way too slow to even use it...

Hi there.  I actually have an extra hard drive with me.  Its actually an ssd hard drive as well.  So you are telling me with my main computer that i do all my financial things such as bitcoin, bank login, email... i also play online poker as well which is as important as bitcoin.  With bank and email, i can log into my phone if i want so basically my main computer is for online poker , bitcoin, bank login and email. 


So when i want to surf porn, use the other hard drive?  Can you explain how this exactly works?  Because dont most laptops have 1 hard drive inside so you could only have 1 ssd or hard drive inside?  I mean you certainly are not going to remove it and then put another one in right?  You have to unscrew it etc so im sure u dont mean this?  Do you mean buying one of those hard drive enclosures that are 20 dollars and below where you put in a hard drive and connect it to a usb port in your computer?  But even doing this, wouldn't that mean you have 2 hard drives connected to your computer at once?  How do you turn off the main hard drive then?  So you are telling me that even if you get the nastiest virus/trojan on the other hard drive, there is 0 chance anything would happen to my other main hard drive?  But most importantly not my computer?  Because if there are keyloggers, it only affects the porn hard drive?

I use predominantly web-based Bitcoin wallets on my home computer which is fairly secure. I trust NOD32 a lot and have been using it for many years without any issues. Also I have installed Mycelium on a wifi-enabled only tablet which I use while I am on the go for quick Bitcoin transactions. I have used also Copay on my Windows 10 phone. All in all your coins will be safe whichever method you decide to use for safekeeping them as long as you have taken precautions for the safety of your electronic devices.

i get that there a danger involved on some of those sites. i get why he wants to separate his financial stuff from the porn, but i do not see why he wants to isolate his porn instead of his financial stuff. because other sites can be a possible danger to his financial stuff too. not only porn.

As long as you have electrum setup there before you started to watch porn and have it with multisignature from your phone , then watch all the porn you want any virus cannot break your security of your bitcoins. And if your PC is compromised you can always restore the electrum wallet via it's seed. If you have multi signature wallet you are good to go.

Best is though to have a single PC for only bitcoin related task and another one for fun , like watching videos, playing games etc.

That isn't something that's specifically tied to such websites. I see that everywhere from time to time. With a proper browser setup, it's quite unlikely that something is going to happen (e.g. flash control, popup/ad block).

There are many dangers lurking among those websites (e.g. weird kind of malware). I don't understand people that download it though, nor those that don't use incognito mode (among other things).

That isn't convenient, nor does that setup imply security. In addition to that, using a slow laptop for all of that (especially if you usually have really good hardware) is a nightmare.  

i wonder why you use a separate computer for porn? why not use it just for the financial stuff?
what is most important to you? i would imagine money. so why not buy a small laptop around $200-$300 should be enough. run linux on it and only use it for your coins, wallets and other financial stuff. the other time it can remain offline and shut down. for everything else you use the other computer, since not only porn can cause malware.

Do you go to a repair shop or computer technician for your laptop to check up whats the problem why is it won't works.i think thats the first thing you can do to know what is the problem .

I do same watch porno's on different sites clicking images and downloading it on my laptop .One day it won't works as i don't know what happens as i have antivirus then. I also have anti-virus which bought from U.S by my aunt .my laptop works well before that day .then i go to a comp. Technician for it to check up then go to other one their findings was the motherboard was suppost to collapse .Thats my laptop problem causing on overusing it .

Yes ,you may buy speed and space are important it needs by a laptop especially you are downloading many files big RAM is for gaming . I will suggest you can buy a second hand then a cheap one but pick a branded laptop not just a cheap one .

Also i use to turn off my anti-virus when downloading files .i believe anti virus are also who creates virus but then after doing all i frequently scan it and fix it if anti virus found a malware which is connected what i've downloaded ,cause sometimes unknown files to be downloaded as they said they found a malware by which that application needs to be downloaded.
I know it is advertisement ,but i suspected that it is also a virus then .

I know porn's have a viruses but if you queue or downloading files /unknown files make sure that it doesn't need to be done and run on your laptop. Most of it have a viruses .

Most of these nasty viruses are installed on your hard drive. If you have different hard drives for different purposes, then you do not need to buy a whole new computer for every application. So in theory, if you want to watch porn, you swap out the hard drive with the hard drive, and you set to go.

im fairly paranoid about my coins as well.  i use a nano ledger, im about to get a trezor, i also have 2 cpu (one for btc business), and 2 phones (one for btc business ,i use 2fa alot).  one cpu and phone i never download anything on it  . the other ones is for entainment and downloads, and porn  ,i gotta catch up on my porn watching . ive been pretty heavy into btc this past 2 years , the btc life stole alot of my porn time.

having multiple antiviruses on your computer is not going to protect you more, it can obviously slow your computer and it also can cause some problems for you as they WILL interfere with each other's work.

as for your concerns, i told you before on this forum to start using cold storage. learn what linux is and download a distro that you like and use it as "live and without network access" and you will stay safer.


many of these sites still need Flash player and lots of other exploitable plugin and they have a lot of ads, popups, popunder and redirects to any site that pays them to do that. so you can be redirected to a malicious site and be unaware of that because it was opened in a window below your main.

hey guys i like to ask this question since my previous laptop that i used separately for porn no longer works.  But im positive it wasn't due to porn, it basically just stopped working.


Does anyone here have recommendation on what laptop to buy for using to watch porn and downloading porn from sites etc?  The thing is pornhub, xvideos those sites i know doesn't have viruses right?  But if its the lesser known ones maybe? 


The thing is if i only use pornhub, redtube, youporn, xhamster, xvideos... then its probably safe since its only streaming?  But anything else is risky?  The other issue is i like to download porn on websites/forums.  So obviously theres a very good chance the uploader could put a virus in that computer.  And i wouldn't want that in my main computer that i do for anything important.

I'm guessing buy a very cheap laptop with at least a 128gb hard drive if i want to download a whole library of movies?  Does ram and speed even mean anything or its not important?  Thus is it possible to spend under $200 for a laptop specifically for porn... but more so downloading a lot of porn that are bigger files since those are better quality?  Should i just buy a used cheap laptop on ebay since i won't do anything important on this laptop?  The other issue is many porn videos that i want to watch, well you can't stream it and have to download.  Is there a way to install a program or use another hard drive connected to my main computer where i use it where it doesn't touch my main hard drive on my laptop?  Thus if any viruses, it only affects the other dirty hard drive or program like linux?  Someone here mentioned linux.


I also read about chromebooks.  But are those a bad idea since store is little?  I checked amazon and very good ones are asus and its under 200 dollars and 16gb ssd.  But thats not that much storage if you download videos that are say 500mb.  Or if you download regular movies from sites and those could be 3gb each.  I did read you get 100gb of google but obviously you can't upload porn there right?


Looking for a solution to this as i want any porn related downloading, streaming on a laptop where it doesn't have any effect on my main laptop and not sure what to do here.  Frustrated since my laptop for porn only no longer works.

How about telling me your current OS, AV software and HDD space (free on laptop)? What I'd recommend is, create a big VM (as space will be needed) and do all those porn related things within it. You should be fine.

The chances of getting virus and malware from porn sites are high.In fact it is one of the main source of revenue for such sites.If you want to keep your laptop safe,either do not visit these sites or buy yourself a separate laptop.

OP you may consider installing a Linux distro on another partition and dual-boot Windows and Linux. You can do your normal work on Windows using Office 365 and other programs that don't have an equivalent on Linux and boot into the Linux distro when you want to visit risky sites and download shady stuff from them. Or you could use a Live Linux distro on a USB stick and do the same. You can even buy an external HDD to transfer the downloaded stuff on it too.

3 external hard drives?  can you explain how it works?  so not possible for your main computer to get virus? 

I bought 3 x harddrives and I bought a little USB3.0 Dual SATA Docking Station with Offline cloning. I configured a clean master drive and use that to clone my second drive, whenever I feel like browsing risky sites. After that session I just pop in the master drive and the drive I used and it wipes everything and re-install everything {cloned} within 15 minutes.

The third drive is used for normal work and has no risky business or Bitcoin related stuff. ^smile^

It is always better to use separate laptop/computer for financial transactions or for crypto currencies and a separate one for porn and movies download. But not everyone can afford it.

I prefer using a single laptop with licensed internet security in it. Also I am using a licensed version of windows. Regular scanning of your laptop will make it safer. So porn watching and financial transactions can take place simultaneously.

The simplest solution is to get rid of Windows and use GNU/Linux instead. Do not run Wine on your main GNU/Linux computer.  If one needs Windows for a particular application put it in a virtual machine and use it only for that application. Alternatively use a second version of GNU/Linux in a virtual machine and run wine in the VM. It is not just high risk activities a simple email can easily infect a Windows computer.

As for high risk activities such as surfing porn I would suggest a separate GNU/Linux machine that is not on your network.  One can also use a live CD/DVD not a USB in that way none of the malware will be saved.  Also consider Tor. For Windows gaming use a separate computer for that purpose.

Malwarebytes is very good for a free program. Please be aware there is bitcoin stealing malware that will steal your password when you enter it then empty your wallet. Altcoins too. And as time passes the attacks will become more sophisticated. Get yourself a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet and keep your private keys offline. You do not need a second computer if the concern is just bitcoin. Trezor is immune to malware but Ledger needs to be installed on a clean computer. Trezor is cheap insurance. Ledger and Trezor are the top two hardware wallet manufacturers hard to go wrong with either. Personal preference is for Trezor though I have used Ledger and find it fine. Now if you are using online banking accounts I would keep those off the computer used for porn or at least do several scans a week using Malwarebytes.

using avast and malwaryebytes is good as long you always updated it and using real subscription, not keygen or crack,and i don't think using hacked username/password in those sites will affect anything because it's only text,and with premium access you'll more secured

Also i have used my laptop where in certain sites, they have free password username for certain sites for you to use.  Such as netflix etc.  They have username/passwords there.  I have tried it with certain sites but not those.  But basically i used username/passwords to log into porn sites and it worked.  Is there a huge issue with that?  Logging in with a hacked username/password for porn site?  At first i thought no big deal.  But then i thought... couldn't that mean the uploader could know my ip address and other things?  Could bitcoins be taken from your laptop this way or not?

Yes so im looking for advice for anyone who knows a lot about this.  I mean im sure all of you guys watch porn.  But unless you all stream it... then its no issue.  But im sure a lot of you click on pics etc so even that takes precaution.

In all seriousness, it might be wise to get a dedicated machine for high risk websites / downloads. Not only your bitcoins and bank accounts are at risk, but also your e-mail which is basically your online identity nowadays.

I also heard of virtual machines.  But would that be enough for that though?  Or you could still get a virus?  Basically i have a usb and an external hard drive as backup for my stuff.  But of course i don't want any of these to get infected as well.  Now if i only watch porn by streaming... obviously no issues.  But there is quite a lot of porn where it has to be downloaded and picture galleries that i have to download to watch though.

I have a laptop that i do everything on.  Basically use it for anything financial related such as bank accounts, electrum wallet, bitcoin wallet etc.  I stream youtube, watch sites etc so far with no issue.  My issue though is i like to watch porn.  Now i do watch porn through those streaming sites like xvideos, porhhub etc which doesn't seem to give me any issues.


The other thing though is i like to download porn from sites online.  Reason is because these videos you cannot stream it through pornhub, xvideo etc.  The other thing is i like to click on preview images of porn pictures.  I always done this without any issue.  But i was told that clicking on links are not really safe since a porn link for an image could cause a virus.



Basically the big main sites.  I was told in those forums... links for porns and images are usually very safe as long as the posters who posted it are long time posters and have a lot of likes by other members.  I believe they said a lot of these links are looked at by the site in case there is a virus, it would get deleted.  Of course someone who posted the video that is safe could later edit it etc.



I assume anyone here that has a laptop that does that bitcoin and financial information... you have separate computer for that... and one for your porn and other stuff?  By other stuff that means like downloading torrents etc.  I read someone mentioned that he downloaded some video game that was pirated and all his bitcoins got lost because of that.  That the uploader put a trojan/virus etc.  I don't download any torrents at all.  I do however like to download porn videos from depositfiles, rapidshare etc.  I also do make sure those posters are long time posters.  But i also like to download certain videos in another forums where even though they maybe long term posters, i dont know if videos are safe or not.   I have so far when downloaded those videos... haven't had an issue in a while with my laptop due to this.  Such that i use it for banking with no issue.
