Right on both counts.
But still only YOU can make the decision. You have your data and even know that BTC and alts are different animals (rare to find here...). Mining is no different than any other business, all have risks. All successful miners started on their own by reading the information found here, digesting it and then acting on our feelings.

It should be a safe bet that not a single one of us pulled the trigger solely on the direct advice of others here.

If you are working with a budget of under 1000$ I would say try an Avalon 741.
Obviously run your numbers through a profit calculator, but these units are supposed to be more reliable and if the price increases again your ROI will decrease.

still looking
BTC

I am researching hardware to buy and mine Bitcoin & maybe some Alt coins

my power costs me  0.1111c per 1 kWh

looking at multiple Raspberry Pi set up and comparing with Antminer D3

I am newbie to mining but I own Bitcoin and want to pull my weight/support the network and earn some more coins

please advise what rigs are good in today's terms ( price of power :  difficulty of mining : cost of hardware )

also tell me what DOES NOT WORK  now  or is simpluy not worth the time & effort

Apologize in advance if this question has been asked before , however the answer must change with the variables

Price of Bitcoin rising
new hardware available
cost of old hardware declining?
&
price of power

p.s. My budget is under a thousand dollars but all answers are welcome in this thread apart from flaming answers
