If you would have asked this question at the time, merit was introduced, you would have got some merits on this thread itself. But it does not work anymore.

Thank you. I will try but I'm afraid to be a tech know how wanna be and instead of getting recognition people will just see me as a fool who's trying hard to pretend I know something I dont.

So why you are here dude? This is the bitcointalk forum... It's like you join for example DOTA forum and say that you can't play the game, you don't know the mechanics, the strategy, etc.

You can just learn to improve your posting quality, and also you'll be able to post on the board that actually matter (not mega-thread).

You're not doing anything wrong other than caring too much, which in turn leads to stress. Almost as though you need validation.

In my opinion you should just post freely, without spamming and low quality posts. And if nobody merits you, don't even think about it. Just move on to your next topic. Don't go back to check if you've been merited.

Good catch, my man.  Did you report him for plagiarism?  If you didn't, please do.  It's good to point it out to the community, especially in a thread like this, but copy/pasting is a permaban offense and the mods need to know about it.  I'd also suggest that when you cite examples like this, say whether it's been reported or not.

He's definitely shot himself in the foot.

Yup, already reported. His "Quick Fact" being completely unrelated to everything else made me pretty suspicious.

Having or not having Merit or Rank will not stop you from meaningful participation on this forum. Since you are a "a self confessed and proud  bounty hunter", then you want it for Sig. Campaigns. If that is the only reason you are here, you really need a life, job and a good companion animal to further your life's ambitions or lack of.

I totally agree with you, merit shouldn't stop one for making meaningful conversation. But you're wrong in saying I only want merit for Sig. campaign but then ofcourse I wont be able to convince you coz like you said I'm a self confessed proud bounty hunter. Also, I have a job and earning nicely. I'm married with 2kids and yup, have a lovely puppy who wiggle his tail whenever he sees me.

Quick Fact - Did you know that rewarding tokens idea (bounty and airdrops) originally comes from Faucet system. And this is "offering them some free coins so that they can "try before they buy", experimenting with a test transaction or two before putting real money on the line. Since this whole experience is so new and a bit complicated to people, this is a beneficial way to promote digital currency and bring in new users."

Not really making a good case for yourself here, dude.

That's why I put the sentence I copy paste in " " mean I get the quote from somewhere if you notice. But thanks for pointing that out.

Thank you, now I learned something from you. Don't be too hard on me and newbies like me, if it's not too obvious I'm trying to improve myself. And, yes I check the bitcointalk rules again.

Good.  Though he used quotation marks, that's totally the wrong way to use someone else's content.  I'm not sure if bitcointalk has a written standard for this--I've never seen it, but I don't really quote things--the right way to do it is to cite the source.  Just using quotes is meaningless, because it doesn't allow anyone to check the original writing.

Thank you for your kind offer but that's my problem, I'm not sure if I deserve or don't deserve getting merit. I just love to give comment, answer question I know how to and that's it. I created this thread just to give me more idea on how to get merit and what I'm doing wrong not to get merit.

I think this is enough to understand that you are not doing anything wrong and why you are not yet getting some merit worthy posts.
Well there are hundreds of threads where you can see good quality posts and I think the maybe you can take a look around.
Well, I am just like you who like giving JUST comments. I do not know if I would like to forcefully get some anyway again since I am a bit busy but hey who does not like to be appreciated right.

If you like to earn merits, do contribute in your own way.

do you think my posts and comments are not helpful or kinda nonsense?

I know you didn't ask me to do that, but I couldn't help but do it still.
Don't be offended by this, but yes, your posts are kinda nonsense in most cases. I just had a look at your post history, and browsing only the first page of it made me realize why you ended up opening this thread. Below are a couple of examples of posts that would never get merited unless the person giving merits is meriting posts without seeing their quality.

But if it will be backed by gold and manage by some institution then the key purpose of bitcoin will be gone which is decentralized, no intermediaries/even a single administrator and freedom from fiat and government institution.

There are many generous people willing to donate bitcoins but first you need to state what you will do with the donation. You have to be clear where the money will be going and spend or else no one will be willing to donate.

As you said, you're a startup company, so why not start an ico that's how nowadays startup company get their funds. They create token, then market their product or propose project to the public and inviting people to invest..this is also like crowdfunding. In return, they will be able to get token and earn something in return.
Be transparent and have a solid proposal/project and you will get the funds you need.

And there you are, a newbie with merit! Dude, I'm green with envy  Shocked ...ok,  this is just to lighten the moment but seriously, salute to you for getting merit in early stage!

Still now you have created your own topic only 6 number. ... Look like you are a pure bounty hunter. It's ok nothing wrong. But as well as your reply on mega thread due to signeture campaign or to increase activity. I saw your reply to. For me you didn't deserve merit on your post. Even you deserve no any establish member have time to read all mega thread.

Suggestion from my side, try to make your own topic ( not spam ) with useful information for forum members. Than if some one think it's really useful for worth of merit than they sure some one help you. Remember, always try to help other so some one will help you sure.

Thank you, what you're saying makes sense coz I really just comment to what I think I know and this is second time I saw someone mention about mega thread and I actually didn't know that. I'm seriously interested about altcoins coz I feel that those ICO project can be the solution for regular and ordinary people to adopt cryptocurrency and by creating project with real use case. Blockchain and cryptocurrency needs to evolve with time and people. It needs innovation and I believe that's what those ICO project trying to do but it just unfortunate that there are people who use the opportunity to s***m other people who believe in the technology.

I think in your case, your posts aren't valuable to the reader. It's just too generic. Let's say in order to get a merit you need to be at the "high school level," but your posts are still at the "junior high level." Try to improve your technical knowledge about bitcoin and blockchain so your posts can be more comprehensive.

Anyway, I think you have the capability to create such posts, but maybe you're just too lazy or not trying enough.

Thank you. I will try but I'm afraid to be a tech know how wanna be and instead of getting recognition people will just see me as a fool who's trying hard to pretend I know something I dont.

Probably you are also spending too much time on the Altcoin Discussion Board. This is nothing but a waste of time to invest a minute in there since it is full of spammy users and nonsense quotes.
Anyway, I think is worthy to advise you that, the most you care about merit, the less you will obtain. This is not correct to try too hard, neither to create a thread expecting a reward, though. In fact, I feel the merit system like kind or "organic", the more you try to get them, the more your enterprise fails.

Now, I`ve taken a look at your posting activity and you don`t seem to match with the common merit-obsessed guy. Your English is pretty good and I like some of your posts, but, honestly, maybe it is time to leave the Altcoin Discussion and explore the world of the forum from another new perspective.

Best of luck. And avoid obsession. You don`t need any single merit to learn, engage, or participate in some good threads.

Thank you . I will take your advise to heart.

Why is it so important for you to receive Merit?

That's a good question and my honest answer is that I feel curious, pressured and envious when I'm seeing people who have less activity than me but have many merits and really makes me wonder why. Besides that, I feel that merit should be given freely to whoever people wants to give them for whatever it maybe.

Some musings as I release the toxic by-products of ingested food stuffs:

The Struggle Is Real!

Taking my forum rank to a bank for a loan: Denied
Taking my forum rank to buy a new car: Denied
Taking my forum rank to get a drivers license: Denied
Taking my forum rank to a University for admission: Denied
Taking my forum rank to pay my light bill: Denied
Taking my forum rank to deposit in bank: Denied
Taking my forum rank to court to pay a fine: Denied
Taking my forum rank to McDonalds for a Happy Meal: Denied
Taking my forum rank to the store for candy: Denied
Taking my forum rank and framing for "wall prestige": Priceless

From the posts I could view, they all seem like generic sentiments that everyone writes in the spam mega threads that no one ever reads.  Even if someone read something you wrote, there's not much that's interesting in it and your grammar is sub-par.

I have relatively high standards for giving out merits, and people who can't write properly don't usually get any from me, unless they've posted an important scam busting or something like that.  So that's why you haven't earned any merit.  None of your posts stand out from the rest of the generic garbage written here thousands of times daily.

And did you really have to throw in this:
I believe that you should only invest what you can afford to lose
...which is one of the most overused phrases on bitcointalk?  It's not appropriate for this discussion, even if it's valid advice.  My point is that everyone writes crap like this.  sMerits are scarce, and you really have to stand out from the pack if you expect to earn any.
Besides that, I feel that merit should be given freely to whoever people wants to give them for whatever it maybe.
What does this even mean???  Here's a great example of something I would skip right over without spending more mental energy than I need to.  Most of the stuff that gets written here on bitcointalk is just fluff, and if it's hard to understand then you're going to get put on people's ignore lists.

Okay, point taken and I appreciate your honest opinion and finding time to quick view my profile and previous post. I will try then to be more direct to the point and avoid cliche advise.

Okay, first of all I would like to be clear that I'm not complaining. I'm asking a serious question in the hope that I can improve myself as a member, not just to earn merit though merit will be good if given since it's a way of showing you are doing something good here.

I have been around since February and been lurking first then finally have time to comment whenever I see something interest me. I'm also a self confessed and proud  bounty hunter (is that a minus?) joining ICO's that I think have real use case. I have been in crypto world since last year and I believe as I always saying blockchain and cryptocurrency is the future of the internet (makes me sounds like a bot?) but I highly believe that. I'm also trader and been earning nicely from doing this and I believe that you should only invest what you can afford to lose (always saying that I think again makes me sounds like a bot).

Anyways, before I feel like there's no reason to go gaga with merit..I mean it's just merit right, given freely and if no one likes what I'm saying who cares? I'm only commenting what I believe and what I feel but as I grow "older" here and seeing members with less activity but have already merits makes me envious...what are they doing that I'm not doing? Or what should I do to get merit and to deserve merit?

Anyone care to explain what I'm doing wrong? You can blatantly tell me whatever you think I'm doing wrong coz I'm a yes/no person and can seriously take criticism without getting offended. And gives me key points on what to do to earn merit? Thank you.
