That is pretty bad (especially if people doing that to spot possible scammers) although I rarely actually use this function (so can probably also with live that).

The sub 1 dollar loan scam works if they go the mrkyle route - lump up the loans together and gamble on some wily investment idea - but its super hokey and takes a 5% loss in value immediately upon transfer (due to the mining fee - i know they could be uuuber cheap and send them as 0 fee transactions)

I know that If I loaned someone a dollar and had much more money I wouldnt give two shits about wasting my time on the 'principle' of the matter (hours or more trying to track the scammer down) - bump the cost up by a couple magnitudes, and I'm definitely getting involved to get my hundred bucks back for sure.

I think its pretty much useless, but the thread for offering loans I believe is productive. But, Id like to see some real stats on how many loan seekers actually pay them off. Most that you see (especially the small loans) are for gambling and they are hoping to win to pay off, if they lose, oh well, just open up another account.. Maybe they should only let members or higher into the lending section..

And why recently people decided to ask for $1 loans of lower? First time I tought they were trolling, but it is for real. Where in the worl $1 is enough to people bother to loan?

Well - that exact stat is not known to me - but nearly every single loan request that I've read about is from a (wannabe) scammer (and I see at least 20 per day if not more).

To be honest the people borrowing and lending the money are usually just doing so to build up a bit of feedback (whether for legitimate or nefarious reasons/purposes). There's not really much point in lending tiny bits of bitcoin really for either party. For the lenders the make such a small amount of interest it only takes one person to scam and then they're in the red (and you will get scammed fairly soon if you're lending without collateral).

From what I have observed 99% of all "loan requests" are just from anonymous people hoping to scam (and if they are "awarded loans" they are 99% likely to be from their own sockies to try and let them convince others to loan them more later).

There are already well known "loaners" who are prepared to take risks after working out how the borrower satisfies their requirements so why do we still want to allow "scammers and beggars" to post on this forum (i.e. what good does it actually serve)?

I personally would rather just see posts from "loaners" rather than from "borrowers" (with "loaners" able to post "borrowers" details if they decide to make a loan - although even that would need to be moderated IMO to stop *false reps*).
