can you use server psu's along with a 750w psu to power a gpu set-up? A standard 750w PSU to power the mobo and the server modified with a breakoutboard to power the gpus. didnt know if this was common.

Yeah but the other PSU will need Molex connectors to power the risers, HDD, and fans if any.

Start the server PSU first and then the computer, and this is important you need to have some kind of constant load running on that server psu just in case the computer turns off for some reason and there is no longer a load running, so attach a fan to one of the PCIe connectors just in case.

If you run the PSU without a load, it will burn out.
