Great thanks
Average over the day turns out to be about 3.35th
So ok I guess for a first miner

Thanks for a awsome reply
Very helpful for a first time miner

I was really hoping to get at lest the 3.5 ish.  3.2 or even less is very disappointing.

I am currently on antpool and will leave that running for a few days.

I was hoping to run in my hallway / passageway in my house for the free heat
But the server power supply I am using is louder than the A6 miner
And the change in miner fan speeds (hunting) is not great
So now in spare room.

Any tips for getting my max hash rates possible ? With out damage

It just was how they ended up they fell short of the 3.5 for many PSU's.   I believe 12.2 was highest possible voltage that was ok (verify it before you try it).  But at that end your pushing it and some really pushed it and got even more.  But look at the many horror stories of people  pushing input voltage and having issues up to dead boards - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/review-avalon-6-miner-winter-mining-notlist3d-also-faq-and-help-1257327

So 3.2 may be disappointing  but I can promise it is far worse if you push it to far and end up with 1 hashing board.   Again go through thread a lot pushed it to far and hurt hardware.   So I would take the 3.2T and be happy with it.

this was a strange one

i had a nice updated image from china which i did not back up.
set to DHCP. never worked again.... strange

down loaded a A6 image from the forum and is now working!
YEY!!!
but now not updated firmware.
fan hunts real bad
only hashing at about 3.2 when it should be 3.5-3.9

only way i can format my SD cards is with my camera.
i have followed many ways on the internet to gain full size of SD card back and no go.
but camera removes partitions and formats. so good.

anyone have latest avalon 6 image i can try.... as im not up to speed on updating the unit

Where are you getting the 3.5-3.9T numbers from?   A few went twords that side with overvolting and it literally killed hashing blades, they are not meant to be pushed to the voltage some were doing.   3.5T is actually the advertised rate, the 3.9 no one got that was not overvolting a good amount.  So that image is capable of getting those high speeds through high voltage from some PSU's.... but long term it likely will kill blades.

A hashrate of 3.2 is not horrible as they did fall short in many cases it depends on the PSU voltage in a lot of cases.   I ran 2 you can see results of them running again in thread - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/review-avalon-6-miner-winter-mining-notlist3d-also-faq-and-help-1257327 .  They were not pushed on voltage as if you go past a point you really are killing your machine.   So if you have 3.2 I would leave it alone.

The fan on stock actually was also not that bad as far as miners go.  I had one in my room for a week or so on standard settings.   You can replace it just make sure not to lose RPM speed if you are dealing with summer heat.

'The right to privacy matters'
okay the gear is working correct?

since you have once crashed it out remember that and consider leaving it alone in terms of software and firmware.

as for  loud fan  what does you fan look like is it a delta or a no name black label fan?

the black label fan is very loud.  I sourced a good replacement for it   you are in NZ iirc

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YOC80IO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/Sanyo-Denki-SAN-Ace-120mm/dp/B00QWB1X3O/ref=sr_1_1?

so this fan is a good replacement for the black label fan if you have the delta fan that is a better fan.

so go to settings and set fan at  50%  this will help the fan stop speeding up and down.

as for the speed of 3.2-3.3 th  the avalon6 th speed is very dependent on voltage supplied to it.

please let me know the make and model of your power supply most likely your power supply is giving 11.9 volts to the avalon 6

not 12.2 volts.

Every Avalon6 that has come in for my hosting (all from BlockC, so whatever image they provided on the SD already installed with the bundled Pi) was already set to DHCP and had no trouble picking up an address on my 10.0.x.x networks. Never had to touch network settings on any of them.

I can confirm it works with 192.168.1.X without issues.  Router is a Netgear Nighthawk  but  should work fine with anything that has DHCP with image I threw above.   It was original BlockC DHCP kit sd card.  So you can do updates if you wish but it should  work fine as is.

And I like to set to static so I can find it easily. But you can leave on DHCP if you want as sidehack said it works fine on it.

this miner has been such a pain.
just cant get it working
with a number of issues.

i set my Pi to DHCP client, now it is lost.
i have set IPScanner to find it, on the correct network.
my router DHCP gives a range of 192.168.1.64-192.168.1.254

nothing on the 192.168.1.0 / 24 network

i have a spare SD card which i have tried setting image to and nothing

default is 192.168.1.100?

i need a hand here.
happy to pay in BTC once i get my small set up going!

If you have a spare SD card try the image over in my thread - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/review-avalon-6-miner-winter-mining-notlist3d-also-faq-and-help-1257327 . It is set to DHCP so you can easily get it connected to network, and then set up static.  It is old but long ago what the BlockC kit shipped with.

Use Win32DiskImager to put on SD card and you should be good to go.

set your PC to

192.168.0.1

then go to your  Browner

and type

192.168.0.100 with the PI on .

there software defaults to
192.168.0 not 192.168.1

if that fails burn the image to a SD again then try above .https://canaan.io/en/support/

I'M not sure just how to reset a Avalon miner other then do above there is no hardware reset i  ever found . if that helps keep the BTC . not needed

i would leave it as a static IP, make sure nothing else is using that IP on your network that way you all ways know were to look, to some thing like 192.168.1.200 or higher.

tip : you may get better help by moving your post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=40.0 Smiley and don't be alarmed if it gets moved by a admin  .
