The alias is just an an optional way to access your wallet that is easier to remember than the identifier. You can set/unset it under account settings. If your alias is "myalias" your wallet URL is https://blockchain.info/wallet/myalias
If you forgot your identifier and alias you can get it back here (if you registered an e-mail account or a phone number): https://blockchain.info/wallet/forgot-identifier

I am setting up a blockchain.info wallet and i dont understand a couple of things.
After entering my details i can log back into my wallet by the identifier and password. What was the point of the alias it asked me for when creating the wallet? also, if i lose the identifier is the wallet lost?
