I think generally after 9/11 it became tougher doing business in the US. Now they have all sorts of regulations and even without a special bitcoin related law, I am sure they can always slap a business with something for breaching one or another rule. Just makes it not worth it setting up an account there.

@BTCisthefuture :
Many US business uses a CMRA for a lot of reasons, you should learn more about the PS Form 1583 to understand that there is no fraudulent activity.

You can have a US phone number through skype or vonage ( you need to pay monthly rent in both case )

To setup US bank account you need an SSN which is MUST.

Best is to register an account with payoneer and claim an US virtual account ( which should be easy ).

Guys,

I am a foreigner planing to open up a HSBC USA bank account, I already decided for Basic Banking account. I would appreciate other suggestions.

And I have all the required documentation except for 2 things:

I need to find a US street address provider for submitting and billing purposes. Also, I need to setup my US phone number with ipkall + google voice. BUT I need to have my US address first in order to match both locations (area code + zip address).

I don't want to use a PO box nor any forwarding package company addresses. I need a real US street address. what do you recommend?

Note that I don't have any friend or family member living in US.  :'-(

US Bank account = FREEDOM ?  Really ?  I have 5 US bank accounts and it didn't provide me any more freedom than having cash under my mattress. Having US Bank accounts just opens you up to being better tracked by the government.  You might want to change your answer.

that was just a short answer. I can justify it explaining you my own reality but I don't want to deviate from the main topic. My ultimate goal is FREEDOM yes, and having a US bank account is on the path of where I'm going. Also, I don't need to hide myself from anybody so I don't care about "being tracked by the government". In fact, having a bank account is not a desire is a necessity (at least for me).. unfortunately, they are a necessary evil.. until Bitcoin grows and develops to the point of absorbing the whole monetary system we cannot go without the bank services.

Yes many companies and individuals use CMRA but your initial post said you are not interested in mail forwarding services, which is exactly what a CMRA is.

In fact there are 2 kinds of forwarding companies: those who gives you a street address and allows you to use it for billing purposes, and those who don't. The first are called CMRA's, the second are called forwarding companies.

Having a reliable US address is the most important piece of the puzzle. I must confess that I'm quite concern about reliability of some services.. I don't want be a victim of identity theft !. I need to provide them my personal documentations and details. I must confess this scares me a lot.

However, I don't know another way out. I really need my bank account, so I'm going to take that risk and signup with a CMRA if I don't have another choice.

Right now I'm reviewing 27 selected companies in several states.. this is an exhaustive task.
--> It would be helpful if someone can recommend a trusted service, any tips are welcome.

Careful... what your doing sounds pretty illegal. At least something the bank and or law enforcement would take action on if they discovered what you are doing.

@miernik:

thanks I already checked out. AFAIK you only have one chance to apply for a bank signup. I don't want to risk my only opportunity with an address that other guy already used at the same bank. Also, in many forwarders companies is not allowed using their address for this purposes. There are many scammers out there..

Does HSBC have branches in your home country? Or any country where you could easily go to?

Then open an HSBC account there and then ask HSBC to open you an account in the USA HSBC - they have something like that, I read on HSBC pages once. Maybe you need HSBC Premier for that.

Also why lie pretending that you are a US resident, when you can open an account as a non-resident, with a foreign address? In most banks you would need to show up in person for that, but maybe with the above HSBC method you can open through your home branch.

I already have an account on the HSBC regional bank. This is one of the requisites in order to apply for a US bank account for non residents.

A friend of mine actually has his account for more than a year, he had used a family member address to sign up.

I'm not pretending nor lying anything at all!, that's why is called "US bank account for non residents" anyone can open an account even if you do not have a SSN but in order to do so you must meet certain requirements. Fortunately I already qualify unless for the US billing address part.

Again, anyone can suggest a smart solution for this problem?

Nope, not going to happen under the conditions you listed.  You need to be there in person and have to have actual proof of residency, not a bank statement or an address, you need a driver license or a state issued ID, which means you have to have a green card/SSN and not just a tourist visa (student and worker visas are possible).  Many illegal immigrants living in the US don't have bank accounts for these reasons.
