Blockchain is indeed a useful invention in certain scenarios with large of potentials. For the employees because Blockchain offers one of the highest paying jobs today and for society because Blockchain is changing the face of online transactions and sensitive data storage. also blockchain is useful mostly in cases where you don’t trust the other party in the transaction, or where fees and services are expensive and slow. and in my opinion those who work with security (the most important of our daily life) already realize that it's vastly more cost effective to use blockchain rather than traditional ways.

Finally i would to say in the blockchain atmosphere I think bitcoin is the king, because the people working on altcoin chains are bound to be very smart and will realize blockchain technology is best suited to 'one chain to rule them all' and eventually migrate to the strongest decentralized chain in future where bitcoin is still vastly ahead of anything else.

Started to see many ads on the web related to blockchain course so it is happening but still government doesn't recognize it applications?
Yes, there were more ads popping up to promote courses related to blockchain. Many countries have begun to provide courses on blockchain, in recent days Philippines have got increased number of courses through different universities. Now blockchain is getting more recognition from governments, and now this has happened with China.
OP you missed the self driving cars.Which is the most expected technology to be developed and will come into use by 2020.
Self driving cars are going to make a change, already this is under testing. There arose a controversy of self driven cars, as one of the car on testing failed to stop. Hit a women and she died, further it lost its importance. Now once again on testing it was found successful. Somehow it takes years to get a full-fledged functioning on the cities.

I hope more people will get to know about Blockchain technology in near future. People have certainly some idea about the other trends that are indicated on the first post but not so many people know about Blockchain.
Basically there are reasonable numbers of people who understand the word Blockchain but have never heard of cryptocurrency. From OP list, by 2020 Blockchain will become common with the people alongside with cryptocurrency, this will drastically enlarge the coast of digital currency across the length and breath of the globe.

The only trend accessible for us commoners is the Blockchain Technology, because everything about it is public and open source, while all the others have property codes and are developed in teams in big companies, study and develop such technologies would have a bigger barrier.

So the blockchain technology is the most promising if you are not in a computer science course or something.

The technology that would benefit Blockchain technology the most would be 5G networks. We know some 3rd world countries sometimes skip a generation in some technologies, so it would be great if the implementation of 5G networks would catapult them into using Blockchain technology and better payment options.

I cannot see that Artificial Intelligence as a Service or Autonomous Driving and Personalized and Predictive Medicine or Computer Vision and Extended Reality would make a difference to Blockchain technology.  Roll Eyes

I agree that 5G will be the key for further development of many technologies including blockchain. But there are lot of security questions related to it so it will be interested to see how everything will be implemented. And not all countries will be ready for 5G at the same time.
I wouldn't say that artificial intelligence can't be connected with blockchain technology. It's so wide area that is applicable to almost everything and in the future it will certainly have significant impact on everything.

i remember jack ma talked about revolutionizing supply chains with blockchains. and blockchains were supposed to disrupt the financial and healthcare industries among several others. it's been years since then. has anything ever come of it? i'm surprised it's still making the list at this point.
It's a gradual process. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day.

ok, but what about some proof of concept? or even a logical explanation as to how private blockchains are an improvement over databases? it's been years of this:

Quote
Bayer Crop Science has agreed to work with Ant Financial, the payments affiliate of Alibaba, to develop a blockchain-based system for agricultural product monitoring.

The companies signed a letter of intent to utilize blockchain technology to increase efficiency, improve the income of farmers, ensure the production of high-quality food and aid in the digitization of agriculture, according to a Sept. 25 announcement.

how is a blockchain more efficient and why would it improve the income of farmers? Roll Eyes

most of this blockchain hype is snake oil---companies are using it as cover to raise money and strike profitable business deals (see the "blockchain as a service" industry)......in several more years i think this sham will all fall apart.

It's a gradual process. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day. I remember how we nearly attained mass adoption in 2017 and how the rapidity of the Bitcoin awareness which spread like wildfire stunned even veteran members and sone community members here. Many started screaming  Bitcoin was a bubble. The movement was such a speed then. For me, I believe life is a gradual process and with time the blockchain tech will take its right place.

I am excited about predictive medicine too. It is going to be like a revolution in medicine. Predictive medicine is going to help decreasing the probability of disease and institute preventive measures to prevent the disease completely or it will help decreasing the impact of the disease.

AI and VR are going to be integrated in a lot of stuff and lay people generally know more about those, especially as AI technology is in all the smart type projects, like autonomous cars, smart devices for the home etc. Blockchain is a less evident type of technology, that apart form things like Bitcoin, etc people don't generally SEE the front end development of it in projects. They will notice more of it though as they download browsers like Brave etc and slowly evolve into decentralized Internet etc. I think Blockchain is still in its fairly early development and implementation phases, so there still room for some investing in this space.

As reading the list, I am trying to find the core which will help to implement these technology. That is the quantum computing, through quantum computing, blockchain technology will be even better, as well as other technology listed specially autonomous driving, and personalized and predictive medicine. I am just wondering if we can use quantum technology to compute transactions in blockchain even better. and how will the mining process could be affected with such great computing speed and power.

Blockchain Technology will be one of the most trends over the years, and we are always on the process of making this kind of technology to be essential to our modern times, just like 5G technology launch by Huawei, this brings people to much convenient way of living and I believe it will happen within couple of years.  The major problem connected to Blockchain Tech is the word Scam and Volatility that makes space between people and Blockchain.

I think compared to all the other technologies blockchain should be on the top, the reason is that if you look at all the the other you will see that they are only concerned with a specific field where blockchain is a revolutionary thing that can change all aspects of our interactions with each other and the world overall, from finance to medical to network ect...., and that is hwy i think it should be seen as a revolutionary thing and given the attention it deserves.

1. - this so called "AI" has nothing to do with real AI. it is just complicated neural network. it has no intelligence in the meaning we know and understand.
2. - more speed for internet on your mobile, interesting would anyone notice it?
3. -I wonder if they decided already who to blame if such autonomous car would kill a man in an accident?
3. - well if there were free and reliable medical insurance - that would be something everyone talk about.. not that abstractive bulls@it
4. - again, some tech, geeks will use only, same as VR
5.-  maybe good for some working areas

Blockchain is the only thing on the list that most people really do not know to be fair. Most people, even those that are laymen in the tech world know of at least the possible existence of AI's and such. This should really place Blockchain technology on the forefront of the world and hopefully push people into believing in the effectiveness of it, thereby placing crypto as well into a favorable place which is really great news imo.
Are you saying blockchain technology is the only thing people are unsure about? I'd actually argue the opposite, we've only recently started to look into subjects like extended reality, computer vision, and only early this year have we implemented the pretty well developed technology known as 5g.

These are pretty accurate trends, we will definitely see a lot of innovations related to the tech industry, especially when it's blockchain-related - I hope to see a lot more adoption and government coins in the future.

Blockchain is a truly revolutionary technology and it is competitive with every trend on your list. I would single out Blockchain separately because it is intended to adapt different areas to decentralization, which some countries do not like in comparison with other points. This is not just a trend, it is a way to destroy the conservative and corrupt world.

Blockchain technology is necessary among the trends of 2020. Its implementation can be a key factor in overcoming corruption. In turn, I consider some points useless. Autonomous Driving is more designed to satisfy the vagaries of the wealthy than to anything that is extra needed.

everything has hype and all those other technologies do too but unfortunately among them, blockchain technology has been mostly hype and so little "actual technology"! so far we have seen a lot of attention being paid to this technology but 90% of this attention goes into how to create wealth for the creators of such projects instead of going into innovation and problem solving or to return some product that could be used in real world.

take this recent hype with Facebook. they are using blockchain technology and creating a new token but there is nothing new about it. it is the same technology being used under a different name and in a centralized way. so what is the product? only filling the pockets of this company with more money and increasing their control!

It just goes to show where the interest of the majority are, like you said, only the monetary aspect is what bring people to btc or blockchain, the concern is all about to maximize profit, hardly anyone talking about the technological aspect of it and how to incorporate it into our system to solve problems,
This forum is also a good example, most thread created in the btc discussion section are often about price, and price predictions, so it appears for now people are just more interested in what they will gain financially rather than the problem solving aspect.

Blockchain technology, 5G network and AI, this 3 trends are already evolving, blockchain is the reason why we are all here in this forum, i have seen news about 5G network and Huawei phones on the internet, AI will also be widely use in near future,

This forum is called Bitcointalk, not blockchaintalk. Satoshi didn't create blockchain so that corporations could improve their own private networks, it was just one part of Bitcoin's protocol, never meant to be taken away from it and used on its own. Blockchain only became a thing because Bitcoin's price exploded, and some people decided to profit off its popularity, by saying that there is a new technology that can be applied everywhere, but actually it's all just a vaporware.

If not for blockchain and btc there won't be a bitcointalk forum I hope you know that, or tell me before the coming of blockchain and btc was there a bitcointalk forum? Before you start trying to highlight words you should learn to read between the lines and understand deeply  what it conote,
Again there is only one reason why we are all here, it is left for you to brainstorm, and your discussion is very far from my point.

We are already started the breakthrough of AI. There's Alexa, Siri and also Sophia. Actually for me the world is getting ridiculous as far as it revolves, imagine they grant Sophia, which is only a robot (no matter how smart it is), a Saudi Arabian citizenship? Like WTH, so creepy! Well, I just really hope they will remain helpful to us and not like what happens in sci-fi where they start an invasion and cause the human mass extinction in the future Grin.

About the 5G Network, do you think it's really safe to use? I asked because I had a glimpse of an article before saying that the radiation coming from it (gamma rays AFAIR) is already harmful for us. What do you think?  [/list]

Blockchains have merit on their own. They'll usually have to be coupled with a 'monetary' unit (this is why Bitcoin works). We are yet to truly recognise the power blockchains have in private settings (or somehow a "private branch" through Bitcoin - the most reliable as it is today)

Lasty, the blockchain technology. Unfortunately, people are looking at the other side of the spectrum whenever they use bitcoin. Superficially, most are only enjoying its relatively volatile price in the market without even understanding the potential of the blockchain once implemented in our daily transactions.

Imagine a world where everything can be seen publicly in a ledger which is unalterable. This would eliminate the doubts we have in the business sector and this would expose their every movement of manipulation and control.

It sounds nice in theory, but I'm not convinced.  The only way a blockchain can truly be transparent and immutable is if it has independent nodes all around the world run by people who are adequately incentivised to keep the chain secure.

    So the problem is twofold:

    a)  What company would even consider launching a decentralised blockchain where their customers are responsible for maintaining the ledger?

    And

    b)  What would be the incentive be for ordinary people to start securing blockchains for lots of different companies?

Otherwise it's just a private database the company can alter at will if they control all the nodes.  It's just a database.  It can be manipulated.

And since cryptocurrency has a questionable reputation as per law, people immediate start taking it in a little different way!

The good part is that the situation is changing slowly but surely! The more and more corporations adopt it in their tools, will surely have a positive effect in the mind of people!

AI and 5G are the most talked about at the moment while blockchain technology followed, 5G is more relevant because of the vast users of mobile phones while AI is taken over human jobs,  although blockchain adoption is growing at a slower pace compared to the other two of course its potentials if fully utilized can create a lot of opportunities while I see more adoptions and its user base, its a obviously  a good news that blockchain is counted among the trend an indication of its relevance to the society.

    1) It's already in practice if I'm not wrong.
    2) 5G data networks already exist in South Korea. Well, it would be nice if other countries implement this too.
    3) Isn't this already a thing? I mean Google did have prototypes of that back then. And not only that Autonomous Driving doesn't always mean literally Driving, but also when a car is installed to Brake/Stop if a certain condition has been met, it's already considered as Autonomouse Driving.
    4) Now, this is new to me.
    5) It's happening now actually. The younger generation is already experiencing this and tends to make them smarter, as it is its initial intention.
    6) I think this will take more years of development until we can thoroughly utilize it.
    7) Surprise!

I filtered out the topics that I feel would cause a significant impact upon its implementation and application to different sectors.

Firstly, artificial intelligence as a service. Mark Cuban tweeted about replacing expensive labor to robotics in order to lower the expenses into labor-driven countries such as China. If companies were to replace labor with AI and people would be instead managing and reviewing the robots, this would potentially be beneficial in the economy.

Second, Autonomous driving. This may sound irrelevant but we are approaching innovation towards the driving system. What once thought as impossible is now slowly materializing from our control. An implementation of this program may potentially lower accidents in driving caused by reckless drivers.

Third, personalized and predictive medicine. In our age, noting is more important than our health and welfare. If we were to be sick, this would hamper everything including one's plans and goals set for the rest of the year.

Lasty, the blockchain technology. Unfortunately, people are looking at the other side of the spectrum whenever they use bitcoin. Then Bitcoin halving is the most expected thing for all the people. I expect the 20k USD in the coming halving time.

I think 5G and Blockchain technology are the most talked trends of this year 2019. Huawei 5G vs. U.S Government issues and how China reacts about the issue and so on. For Blockchain technology, I think that would last for a very long time because it is the backbone technology behind bitcoin (the most popular crypto) and the other cryptocurrencies as well.
The US Government allegations against Huawei has been the most talked thing about the 5G technology and with the blockchain technology it seems to be almost being implemented by almost every company since Satoshi invented it. I am looking forward to AI but am a bit skeptical about the whole thing and my skepticism allhas to do with movies that i have watched.

Most people, even those that are laymen in the tech world know of at least the possible existence of AI's and such. This should really place Blockchain technology on the forefront of the world and hopefully push people into believing in the effectiveness of it, thereby placing crypto as well into a favorable place which is really great news imo.
