They aren't embarrassed, they just don't want the internet to be able to recognise them on the street without having first mutually been in a compromising situation. I would say it doesn't necessarily mean they are embarrassed. But rather it might mean that they don't plan to do that line of work forever. And there are people out there that look down upon people who are in this profession. Therefore, they don't want to be penalized later in life because of the morality judgments of the holier than thou crowd.
