It's still possible to list Shapeshift on coinmarketcap if the creators of coinmarketcap really wanted to. They would just have a lot less information to work with since there is no real API possibility with shapeshift. Also, the value of altcoin actually varies depending on your order size.

Technically, since recent transactions are all listed in public, coinmarketcap could possibly get info from there. But that's gunna be a hassle and with an exchange with only 1200 BTC worth of volume daily, it's probably not worth it.

That's the thing, CoinMarketCap actually list specific data such as markets volumes and If those are not provided by ShapeShift then there is nothing to list, this has nothing to do with them not wanting to list it.

The data are clearly visible for them but simply not available for public. If they don't even know how much volume they have an d how much they are earning, how are they going to progress as a business? and this is unrelated with the fact that they there no accounts, deposits etc.

Shapeshift is not a pure traditional platform exchange as we know it (like Bittrex, Kraken, etc) You don't have to deposit, create account, can't deposit cryptos, etc... They don't hold customers funds and hold only small hot wallets
And most important is the data can't be get from their API

Although shapeshift doesn't be listed on coinmarketcap but ShapeShift now one of the leading SegWit adopters responsible for 2-3% of all trades, All BTC deposits on ShapeShift are now SegWit compatible with integration complete and are then subsequently respent as SegWit transactions to other customers which makes their SegWit transaction volume so high. https://www.cryptoninjas.net/2017/10/06/shapeshift-now-one-leading-segwit-adopters-responsible-2-3-bitcoin-trades/amp/

Isn't ShapeShift only using third party exchanges for their trades and only acting as an intermediary? Why can't you just use coinmarketcap or look for the coin at any other exchange individually?

I believe that's not the case, you are actually trading with other people using their platform instead of trading with the service.

Details like what? price,limit,fees etc..?

Mostly the last 24 hour trading volume, as for the "Markets" tab, I was talking about CoinMarketCap where they already have it but I didn't see ShapeShift in it.

Now and TryNinja answered, I believe It makes more sense. I appreciate the help.

It's probably because trade volume is not available via api/any other means. not sure why should they add in markets tab.

Looking at their API Documentation, looks like you are right:
Quote
This gets the market info (pair, rate, limit, minimum limit, miner fee)

Code:
url: shapeshift.io/marketinfo/[pair]
method: GET

[pair] (OPTIONAL) is any valid coin pair such as btc_ltc or ltc_btc.
The pair is not required and if not specified will return an array of all market infos.

Success Output:
    {
        "pair"     : "btc_ltc",
        "rate"     : 130.12345678,
        "limit"    : 1.2345,
        "min"      : 0.02621232,
        "minerFee" : 0.0001
    }

A lot of coins are being traded on ShapeShift but I never see them on the "Markets" tab on CoinMarketCap for some reasons, any idea why is that? I can see their trading volume for everything but not anything specific on their site.

Any other way to get specific details for a specific coin?
