I have the same good expirience with support of shapeshift. Good to know, that even transactions with forgotten IDs can be rescued. Thanks for sharing.

You should definitely use https://xmr.to instead.
Much quicker payout, XMR never gets stuck, uses integrated address (no pay ID required) etc.

So I made my first XMR transaction ever and it was to shapeshift.io for some quick BTC. Exhilarated at how smooth the transaction went I quckly switched back to my web browser to await confirmation...
and waiting...oh what's this??!? "Don't forget to input your Payment Id, or you will lose your money".
So do I go in the corner and cry now?
