usually I see a scam ico project or not by studying the contents of the project and the amount of sales from the project. if ico project gives a very big bonus and it makes no sense i make sure it's a scam. social media updates are rare and there is no progress on the project.

The first thing I do is find this bounty or ICO project in the telegram and ask specific questions to the manager, if you receive constructively answer then one can be sure that the project is not a scam.

There are four things that decide everything about a project First you should look up their team and judge that they have a good record and completed good projects and their ICO ranking
Second you should look that they have the social media accounts and are actively using them
third look for the project's whitepaper and read it everything with the team and their whole record
Fourth and the last look for the Project's ICO ranking on the iocobench websites.

this will give you an idea about the good project or scam.

Many people say that there is no luck in the crypt, but I think that this is not true. Because there are circumstances that are difficult to predict. When you select ICO, you can not be completely sure that the project will be able to collect at least a soft cap. However, it is very important to try to learn as much as possible about ICO in general.

I've only encountered some ico's that turned out to be a scam. It seemed very weird that they had collected over 50 millions $ in presale. looked sketchy. Well, I did not participated in ico. thank God!
even with full access to the technical documentation of his company, and also by the names of the developer, you will still have many chances to associate yourself with scammers. You can not be insured against this.

Nope, i never had that.
Other people will tell you to read all of their WP, team, and their project, is it good or too good to be true. But it doesn't guarantee you will be not scammed by them (many scam project even managed by some reputable member on here back then).

I only can say, it's based on your luck. There is always a risk to join in any campaign (including getting scammed)

For sure is based on luck, until now No luck for me =(

I think one of the best ways is to know more about this project's team. If they have big experience and worked in serious companies, then there are no reasons to worry. If their team doesn't look too impressive, then it's better to be careful with this project.
At least learning the team is the main goal that the future participant of their project should pursue. Due to technical information, you can very little about the real goals of developers.

You can't really identify if the project is a scam or not from the start of its campaign. They will make promises that the project is going to be something, hyped everything, provided promising WP that most of the contents are to good to be. You will only notice it as the ICO goes along and the Main team starting to dimish one by one.

Ultimately they can all start off as a legitimate business and turn into a scam.  The business owners/ICO partners often have good intentions and then when they are not getting the returns that they wanted, or can't cover the investment they made, those will a lot on the line or not great moral codes can bail with the peoples money.

Honestly, when you have a good knowledge and background in that field, you can know easily if this project is a scam or not, so before you start in that area you must learn and understand the basics and trust me, knowledge is power. and unfortunately, I see that many people easily fooled because of these ICO's scams, or fake projects, the main reason for this is the greed of many of them through the airdrops, and other easy money.

In addition to that, if you read the Whitepaper very well then you can know if this project is a scam or not through the technical things. Plus, the cheaters are everywhere in whole internet and the issue is that scam projects develop over time, So be careful of them and do not rush when choosing the right project.

Until now, I still don't receive reward for my work. LOL. I think it's almost impossible to find out which one is scam or not, sometime you need to use your luck Grin

The first thing I always pay attention to is how the project team reveals their personalities(photos on the site, profiles on social networks and more). The concealment of these data are the first sign of a Scam. Also be sure to pay attention to the team's activity in social networks and on the Bitcointalk. Hiding the smart contract address is an obvious sign of a Scam.

I've seen the post on this thread, it seems difficult to know a project is a scam or not. Even for the legendary. I always follow all the projects I think I can do while praying that the project that I follow is not a scam.  Grin

Indeed, it is not easy to judge if the project is good or is a scam. Even a project that looks good at the beginning can turn into a failure for various reasons. Investing in ICO is always very risky. That is why risk assessment is very important.

You also can analyze the activity of the project team in the bounty and ICO preparing process - if you start to suspect that the ICO success is more important for you than for the team it may be a sign that project is a scam.
And of course, you may rely on your luck

one way to find out a scam project or not is to pay attention to a site offer
Does the offer make sense? Is it not excessive? If the offer makes sense, there could be a chance of success. But if the offer is too good, there's probably something wrong.

We can't predict directly about which ICOs will going to be scam or delayed or permanently stopped. Luckily as a bounty hunter I haven't become the part of scam ICOs but I have seen two ICOs were stopped in middle of bounty campaign promotions because of SEC regulations familypoints and socialCxN. Which really wasted my and others hunters time involved in the campaigning. A lot of ICOs collect their fund and apply for SEC regulations compliance in the last movement which really bad practice. What if SEC will not approve their ICOs everyones time will be wasted also there will be chances of loosing of invested funds.

Can you tell me more clearly how you got cheated when you followed the bounty? It's different between being cheated and scammed.

Like all people said before, it is hard to know the project scam or not. Because there is no specific sign. Usually the project which looks good maybe it can be a scam or maybe not. So, we should be selectif read more references whether it is a WP or information about the project, dev or others. I hope you get a lots of luck.

As far as i know, i don't have experienced yet to participate in a campaign that ends to a scam. But to answer your question, it's really hard for anyone to know if the campaign is legit or just a scam, but if you make a lot of research about the project that you want to invest in, like reviewing of their whitepaper and identifying those members behind the team if they are credible and not fabricated only, this will reduce the risk that you can take from investing in this project.

There're some important questions to ask about an ICO project before you decide to invest or not:

1. Who is on the team, what are their backgrounds & credentials, and do they have any public track records?
2. What purpose does the blockchain have in your project? Is project service already offered by a centralized entity?
3. What milestones do you have in place? How will you let investors know when said milestones are achieved?
4. Does project ICO fall within SEC jurisdiction? Are you SEC compliant?
5. What is project Fiscal Policy? Instamines, premines, buying, spending, icing, discounting, and/or burning any tokens?

Tips are just a ray hope and a method of precaution nothing else, you can compare tips from getting scam by an ICO to storing your money in an exchange. Things might work fine for a long period of time but can change any time. Projects look good and very tempting to invest, best part is every project will predict to be next bitcoin but who survives many few. In this matter I think you are gambling your money, you might be careful and increases your chances for winning but you are still gambling.

If you are specifically interested in earning through bounties but fear that the project may turns out to be scam, then i would say that a legit project too can fail to raise a decent amount in a their ICO leaving nothing to bounty hunters. So, along with analyzing the legit project, one needs to look for the potential project before investing in an ICO or doing a bounty. I usually look for ICO ratings on various websites, telegram discussions, team background, project potential, social media presence and how reliable is the roadmap.

Yes i have experienced one or two twitter bounty campaigns in which i invested my time and efforts but at the get scammed. So i will say that it's not easy to find a legit ICO project because they were active on social media and their project was also good but still they get scam. So i will say you have to look various sources like whitepaper, team behind project and the objective of the project. Be careful while choosing any project.

Look at the project if it is worth to join and the Bounty allocation if its worth the time and effort. Doing research is the most important thing to remember to know if the bounty is fake and not paying. If the bounty is not showing faces or the rules are not clear, investigate so that you dont waste your own time.

Well you can't tell whether the project will be ended up being scam because nowadays the scammers are also growing they made themselves look very professional, they planned the scam well. I'm also an investor for almost a year and no matter what I do there are some cases that the project on where I invest ended up being a scam that's why I said that it's really hard to figure out which is the real project and which are the legit ones.

I've made a thread to avoid being scammed again this thread may either not going to help you or might help you: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.33152916

I can’t tell you if a certain project is worth investing in or not and I won’t tell you what to look for in order to find profitable ICOs. No, I am simply going to show you the markings that scam projects often carry so that you can avoid wasting your hard earned Bitcoins on them. With that being said, even honest projects can be a complete failure, so make sure you know what you’re doing and remember to never invest more than what you can afford to lose.
Scam projects will often make bold claims about their product even though said project offers nothing new or disruptive. It’s not likely that a certain blockchain platform or cryptocurrency will end poverty, fix global warming or replace the internet. This can also be truth for how they expect the community or markets to respond to the product. If someone claims their cryptocurrency will replace Bitcoin, get a disproportionate amount of users, or increase by 100x in the price charts, you can add that project to the scam list.
If the project does have that potential, professional developers will never make such promises. They will let you know about the potential of their project and that’s it. No serious team will ever make a price prediction about their token or claim it can fix the world.

It is quite difficult to say unequivocally whether the project will be worthwhile, the tighter at the current time, when some projects having a good idea and a strong team can not gain investment. First of all, look at the idea, whether there is already ready products, who conducts the company and you can use outside resources to assess the potential of the program.

Nowadays, theres a lot of scams and its really hard to detect which is legit and not. And eventhough we do on searching about the team behind the project, their social media, whitepaper and project, the truth is there is no 100% assurance that these bounties are not a scam. Mostly all Devs/teams of ico are active during ico but after the ico, they turned out to be silent or scams....But whatever the turn-out, we need to accept and goes on. After all, we dont invest cash fund so I just move on and accept the fact and try again another bounty.

2. Team and advisors
3. White Paper
4. ICObench rating
5. Social pages and site
6. Token Metrics and Prototype

But after all there is no 100% guarantee that it will be not a scam. But it is all you can do from your side so you need some luck also.

You missed the development team and LinkedIn profile to share here. You may consider including with in the team and advisors list but if the newbie has been came here to invest on ICO means he will not be know about it mate.

Why I have asked you to check the LinkedIn profile, because they will be creating fake profile of the CEO and other people in the friendlist. If the legit person you will be able to find with the age about LinkedIn profile itself so there would not be any issue for investing ICO then.
Complete newbies wont really bother out or will definitely missed out on having those check-ups on where they don't really bother themselves on checking out on the team behind it.This is what most people do missed that's why they are being easily scammed because they haven't checked out teams profile first before investing. This is one of the most important factors to be considered first because you can picture out and differentiate projects which are shady and which are transparent.

You are absolutely right, guys! I missed that important point.
LinkedId profiles must be checked if you are serious about the investing in the project. You should make sure that the team is not fake and it is important to check thiers' previous projects. Also the developers must have a good background within the blockсhain technology.

In my opinion, the bounty project that does not have the scam potential has a solid team and a company that is well known to the public. A good project is usually an energy company, I will not doubt it again if the company is engaged in Energy. This project will definitely be a success and far from the word scam.

The first thing is when you choose the ICO campaign, if you have right chosen=, the encounter with the scam project is almost impossible. A potential ICO project is when it has a good manager. Also, the campaign also needs a large number of members on Social, the index after each ICO sale Token are high. I advise you to refer to the ICO on the sharing groups as well as the ICO review sites.

It's pretty hard to distinguished fraudulent ICO from those legit because there are times that even a good platform with excellent team could lead to abandonment of the project hence a scam ICO, even bounty managers here too have experience with those scam companies. I suggest looking for a potential ICO you must also consider the country where it is situated as a strict regulation might compensate the risk of getting scammed.

Difficult to say !
You should note the following:

1. Staff review: Are they really talented people? Are they full time for this project? Have they got the product yet? Consider the mentors, the projects they contributed to succeed or not? Ratio ?

2. Their legal elements

3. Personally I do not like projects coming from Russia

Detecting if the bounty campaign is a scam or not is quite difficult now a days because most of the time they are active during ICO so the tendecy for a bounty hunter to get interested might be high.
Searching for high rated ICO might reduce the risk or join on the campaign of a well known bounty managers.

I have experienced wayback before when i was still participating on bounty campaigns which theres a campaign which do end up on being a scam and didnt paid off their bounty participants as well into its investors. This is also part of the risk when we do bounty hunting, its either we got being paid or not depending on the project we choose to advertise on.Knowing them if they are legit or not then this would really be hard. When it comes to tips then just do the basics on investigating or researching things.

The problem with detecting scams is that scammers will also learn how they are detected.
Thus, you get better scammers and people will get scammed again.

Best two advices:
1 If it looks too good to be true, it usually is
2 Accept that it can happen and don't use up all your free money on one projects

Nice informations, now i willbe seriuslly about team behind project with observations and carefull, thanks and good luck

It all begins with the team behind the project.Of course it is them who will scam you.So firstly look out for the team behind the project. Are they freely showing clear pictures of themselves on the project website?Do they have linkedin accounts or social media accounts with a significant number of followers?Do they have relevant and detailed profiles on the website? How many are they on the team and who are their advisors? if most of the answers to this question is no or insignificant, kindly be very careful with that project.

What you really need to note is that you are smart to do the analysis, and note also the people who do that.
When he is a professional person and has a good reputation then I am not worried.
But still that doing the analysis and searching the various data on the internet is the most powerful search to avoid scam.

from my experience of knowing a scam project or not by seeing his offer make sense or not, if his offer makes sense, there could be a chance of success. But if the offer is too good, there's probably something wrong..learning the working system of the business becomes the next step.

I am very grateful for the response from friends, in the future I have to level it to read more detail while looking for more, may we all always be lucky and the process never lie on the results

First of all, you should ask yourself if there is a real need for a blockchain in some project. How the blockchain will help to resolve the particular problem. The vast majority of new startups imagine nonexistent problem and then offer how to resolve the problem with their future product.
You also can analyze the activity of the project team in the bounty and ICO preparing process - if you start to suspect that the ICO success is more important for you than for the team it may be a sign that project is a scam.
And of course, you may rely on your luck Smiley

thank you very sincerely useful information, but there is a team that can tell information about it, some people especially I personally very upset with things that smells of scam, I hope the future we can work better and professional, so there is continuity for and for all of us ,
the spirit of success always

do you ever follow the work bounty signature program, social media campaign but ended a scam?
On my experience, so far I haven't fall into those projects that turned out to a scam.
then how can we know the project ended a scam or a professional? Give me more tips
You said about bounties then before joining any of them make sure that you know who's the one managing it. See if there's someone that is trustworthy managing those projects but if it is just someone that isn't popular, don't have any trace of deal or history of transaction think again. Professional projects will hire professional marketing specialists or campaign manager to run their project to ensure that they are legit and paying.

These days in think it's more simpler to figure out because some more professionals do help evaluate this projects.  There are a couple of bounty hunting websites that have come up to help u save time. Though one can still get scammed but the chances are lower if you make use of the reputable bounty hunting sites.  Bounty hives goes as far as collecting all the tokens that a project is willing to give out before helping the project to coordinate the bounty campaign so that there would not be stories at the end.  You can try it out

Yes, I had this experience last year. WCX exchange. Tons of hype and promises, very aggressive promotion of their pre-sale on every available platform, then nothing. Ah well, we live and learn. Do full research before you get engaged in any campaigns.

I have to agree with the one who posted earlier. Take a lot of luck that you have. But, before you sign up for a project bounty campaign, you need to make a thorough research on that project so you will not work in vain. You can not just rely on luck. We all have been fooling at bounty campaigns at least once, participating in an SCAM. But life goes on. After all, if we do not invest money in that ICO, we have nothing to lose out of time.
