The box is running Citrix Xen so it supports both depending on the guest OS. If you're using ubuntu or centos there is a template which should install the correct kernel and windows has a driver set you need to install on your guest.
Regarding cores -- there are 8 cores on the box available to all with proportional weighting. However, if you're going to be pounding the CPU 24/7 I'd prefer you look somewhere else.
