Sheepy is proud to announce its new crypto onramp solution, designed to enable iGaming merchants to offer players a straightforward method for purchasing cryptocurrencies using credit cards. This innovative flow facilitates direct deposits of digital currencies into merchants' wallets, simplifying the payment process to be as easy as 1-2-3.

How it works

The process is straightforward:

  • Players select the desired amount of cryptocurrency they wish to purchase
  • A regular fiat payment is completed using a credit card
  • Players instantly get the cryptocurrency and deposit funds to their accounts
  • iGaming operators receive the cryptocurrency directly to their deposit addresses accessible here: https://www.sheepy.com/deposit-addresses

Key benefits

  • The one-click purchase and deposit process reduces any conversion killers and simplifies the payment flow
  • Deposit address feature allows to reduce the volume of mistakes while the player enters details: wrong addresses and networks
  • Sheepy's onramp opens doors to customers from over 190 countries, even if you never had any prior payment experience in those countries
  • iGaming companies can effortlessly integrate Sheepy's solution into existing payment systems without the need for technical adjustments

For more information about Sheepy’s onramp and how it can transform your business, please visit the Sheepy website or contact our team.

I understand that, but is it really impactful? I believe Prestashop allows anyone to build their plugin, so it sounds like something that regularly happens. At the very least, it doesn't seem like a big deal, similar to how an open-source project collaborated with each other in their initial stage, unlike some big deals such as Google and Apple making a join-partnership or something.

I guess that is just a marketing strategy in the end, so I can't really blame you as long as it is not misleading. Another way to increase credibility is if you can open-source your project or allow the community to verify the code. I believe you can understand why an open-source project is well-liked by the community.

We believe that despite the advancements in e-commerce, there's still a noticeable gap in robust and user-friendly crypto payment plugins. This is where Sheepy comes in. We're proud to offer a solution that fills this gap, providing a secure and seamless crypto payment experience that many solutions currently lack. Our focus is on enhancing e-commerce transactions with the convenience and security of cryptocurrency

Regarding open-sourcing our project, while we recognize the community's trust in open-source initiatives, we have chosen to keep our project proprietary for now. Our commitment to transparency, security, and user trust is unwavering, even without an open-source model.

I can't seem to understand what's the importance of the partnership you shared above since it basically means Prestashop now has your plugin available for their customers. What kind of steps will lead to a better marketplace environment from that? I don't think this is the first time a marketplace allows a crypto service to develop a plugin for their platform either; CMIIW

It would be great if you at least responded to what others said instead of just posting news here and there. You did that a few months ago iirc, I don't understand why you stopped doing that.

Your point about engagement is well-taken. We acknowledge that we might have been less active recently. Going forward, we strive to enhance our engagement with the community, ensuring that no questions are left unanswered.

I don't think the use of a payment gateway system will be an effective offer over using a p2p network on the blockchain, am not saying this to discourage for your service or what you offer, but this is one of the benefits of this forum, we advise on the best alternatives while people make their own final decision.
Payment systems are not here to replace P2P trading though, they are here to help sellers provide a payment system to accept Bitcoin so their buyers can use their BTC to buy stuff. The withdrawal stuff is just here to help them liquidate their sats after they make successful sales. It is just there for convenience, not the main selling point of such a system. If anything, his competition is another popular open-source and self-hosted payment system like BTCPay Server. CMIIW.

Hi,
While the withdrawal feature is indeed useful, especially for converting Bitcoin earnings into fiat currency, it's more of a supplementary service. The core value of these systems lies in their ability to seamlessly integrate Bitcoin payments into everyday commerce, making it as straightforward as using traditional payment methods.

Hi!

Of course, we support the decentralization ethos and the freedom it brings. Our aim is not to replace P2P transactions but to offer an alternative for those who might find value in a more structured system, especially in a commercial context.

Big news from Sheepy! We've rolled out our Custom Invoice Settings via API. Now, you can jazz up your invoices just the way you want.

Feature Highlights:

  • Currency: Set a distinct currency ticker overriding the profile settings. Fancy an invoice in Litecoin over Bitcoin? Now you can!
  • Fees: Choose between fixed or percentage fee structures, superseding the default profile.
  • Notification URL: Modify the HTTPS URL for personalized invoice status updates, a step up from the standard notification URL.
  • Autocomplete: Decide on the auto-completion of invoices that are expired or partially paid, taking precedence over profile settings.
  • Gateways: Customize your gateway preferences. Want to limit payments to just Bitcoin and Ethereum? Consider it done.
  • Autoconversion: Adjust autoconversion aspects, like type, gate, and conversion percentage, replacing default profile settings. For instance, opt for converting just half of the amount via your preferred gateway.

Need a hand or got questions? Contact us or swing by here.

Jump in and have fun invoicing with Sheepy!

Just to say the needful, can we know if you have compliance in other to function optimally.

This question is coming from a place of "I love the project but I have to be sure" and this is not meant to taint the project in a negative light but due diligence must be done to be safe all round as a user across any platform.

Hi,
Our platform operates with stringent compliance measures and security protocols that align with EU regulations. We even provide KYT insights to our merchants to enhance transparency and security.

I see, maybe you need to edit it so that the difference is quite clear. Not sure how it goes though, I can't check it on my mobile phone. Hopefully, you can address other concerns in the future.

Thanks for pointing that out! Clarity is essential, especially when dealing with financial transactions. We'll definitely look into making the distinction even clearer on our platform to enhance user experience.

It is still a point to consider especially if the service doesn't have any reputation before. Some scammers buy domains too and they trick users by saying stuff like experienced in crypto for 5 years or something similar. Nothing is wrong with being careful.

Hi,
Certainly, caution is always wise, especially online. While domain age isn’t a definitive indicator of legitimacy, we understand your concern. We’d like to assure you that our reference to experience is based on our team’s collective expertise in crypto and fintech, accumulating over a decade.

That’s some real concern as, why the hell not just start up a new domain and gradually build a reputation from there other than raise questions of doubt as, being in the cryptospace comes with lots of trust issues on what services we patronize and there are always going to be some diggings.

Still, it doesn’t discrete the site given that, some successful transactions have gone through it and still, it doesn’t verify nothing too.

Of course we weren’t expecting the service to be all globally as there are jurisdictions and restrictions within the cryptospace so, you could always expect the sites and services to comply.

Meanwhile, it’s a much relevant service as it allows you to have crypto withdrawals in local currency denominations where functional. That’s a plus on the service.

Absolutely understand your concerns! The restrictions aren't about favoritism towards certain countries; it's about adhering to international laws and regulations. While we require EEA IBANs for fiat withdrawals, non-EEA jurisdictions aren't restricted - crypto payouts are still available, and there are options for non-EU entities to open EU accounts for greater access. Plenty of alternatives are at your disposal. And we really work hard to add new local currencies!

Actually I would say, that many people buy old domain names, and they sell for quite a high price, specially in .com and small number of letters, so if they bought this domain there is no wrong with it, rest as the crypto goes, anything can happen in it at any time, since its not much regulated.

As for the QR code, the URL option takes you right to the payment page, great for mobile. The Address is the crypto wallet where you're sending money, and the Amount is how much you're sending. Thanks for giving our demo a go and for the awesome feedback.

Sheepy has a demo page where you can see how the platform works and try it out for yourself. The demo page lets you create a sample invoice and see how you can configure payment settings. This demo page is a great way to experience the convenience and flexibility of Sheepy.
I tried to check your demo. Basically, the countdown starts after you input the payment amount, but not before you select the payment method. I don't think it is a good option. I'd suggest starting the countdown after the user choose the payment method, and maybe extending the timeout for more than 15 minutes since a confirmation might take longer than that in the live version.

Also, what is the difference in the QR code between the URL, Address, and Amount shown in https://www.sheepy.com/demo/invoice/demo? I can't seem to understand it.

Hi!

You're spot on about the countdown timer. Starting it after you pick a payment method is a smarter move. We're also thinking about extending it past 15 minutes—good call. As for the QR code, the URL option takes you right to the payment page, great for mobile. The Address is the crypto wallet where you're sending money, and the Amount is how much you're sending. Thanks for giving our demo a go and for the awesome feedback. We'll definitely look into making these changes!

Which makes me wonder who makes up this list of high-risk countries?
It's not like we will see The Government of Bolivia sue sheepy for not complying with their financial regulations, like the way SEC usually does with services that try to act with in the United States.

At Sheepy, we follow international standards and regulations for AML/KYC compliance, which are established by organizations such as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

We also conduct our own risk assessments and due diligence when determining which countries or regions are deemed high-risk (e.g. countries that have restrictive crypto approach or ban payments for goods and services in crypto). While we may not face legal action from a specific country's government for non-compliance, we take our regulatory obligations seriously and work to ensure that we are compliant with applicable laws and regulations to protect our customers and business.

may also have our internal policies and risk appetite assessments that determine which countries or regions are considered high-risk for crypto payments.

I would really like to hear how it is determined that some countries are "high-risk" for crypto payments. Apart from certain countries that have banned crypto, I don't see how it can still be limited territorially.
When I looked at the list. I couldn't help but notice that most of the countries are low tier or what some people would refer as Third World countries. Most of these countries don't even have any sound legal framework when it comes to financial regulations.

Yes, you are right. In general, financial regulations and compliance requirements can vary greatly across different jurisdictions. Some countries have stricter regulations when it comes to cryptocurrency payments, and we, as a payment gateway,
Most, if not all, financial legislation is strict for amounts that exceed the amount of one thousand or two thousand dollars, and most payments to merchants are less than that amount. Therefore, there is no need for strictness for depositors, and perhaps the necessary strictness for stores, as the total of their transfers will definitely be more than a thousand dollars.

Many countries do not have clear legislation for encrypted currencies, and therefore, as long as the transfer does not contain US dollars, most of these legislations are useless.

Isn't this a bad choice for users? Where anyone can know my daily store deposit and thus estimate what I can buy.

📢 Sheepy launches deposit addresses!

With this new feature, merchants can provide deposit (static) addresses to their clients and receive payments directly to their wallets. Sheepy will automatically generate an invoice and issue a notification to the merchant when a payment is received.

Merchants can now assign a unique text label to each deposit (static) address, such as a user_id making it easier to track and verify payments from end clients.

Deposit (static) addresses are designed to simplify and speed up the payment process for both merchants and their clients, especially, if you need to track client balances and their deposits on the go.

Can you at least explain why those jurisdictions are prohibited? I'm seeing countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. What is the legal rule or regulation that you refer to when you ban them? IIRC, other payment gateways don't prohibit users (business owners or buyers) from those countries from using their services, so it looks odd to me. From a quick glance, it seems like you prohibit business owners from countries where using crypto as a payment option is not legal.

Hello guys!

Of course, we are a regulated fintech business and have certain limitations in terms of counties and territories. This is relevant for our merchants but not customers who would like to pay using our payment gateway.

The same relates to KYC which is the current market standard for all legit crypto businesses. However, we are committed to enhancing the process with automated checks, monitoring tools and public databases.

It looks like they reduce the firewall rules and restrictions on their cloud flare account which is why it is now accessible. I tried to make an account and verify the email but my account is in testing mode after searching around why it's a testing mode I saw a tab "verify" that requires KYC.

It means that this payment gateway needs to be KYC verified before you can able to use their service which is risky if we share our documents with a months-old payment gateway.
The domain is aged but the website itself is pretty new and it doesn't have any reviews yet and they only support API unlike BTCpayserver.
indeed, members have to be very careful with who they hand over their personal details to. It could be a scammer, and you don't want to know what they will user your KYC documents for after they have been sold off in the dark market

personal data can be misused by platforms that are not so reputable so I also won't be careless in placing KYC.

it seems my country is on the prohibited list,

We are offering a cutting-edge platform that enables to start accepting crypto payments as they were meant to be - global and frictionless.

I think that you need to redefine the word global because, based on the posts above, about a third of the countries in the world are banned from using your payment service, which is something against the nature of cryptocurrencies available to all countries of the world

you confirm that your business is not under the control of a national or resident of any country where crypto assets transactions are explicitly prohibited or the United States of America (including all USA territories like Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Island, and the US Virgin Islands).

You confirm that you are not a national or resident of the following prohibited jurisdictions: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Palestinian Territory, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen. We maintain the right to restrict or refuse its services in these jurisdictions.
So, as a store owner, I have lost large numbers of users as a result of using your service to process crypto payments, so what will I benefit from?

Well, the jurisdictional limits for most Muslim-majority countries. I judge this limitation to seem a bit discriminatory (sorry if my feelings are exaggerated). lol
I can assure anyone up front that this will require KYC.

I tried accessing their registration page from supported countries and it worked just fine (UK, Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong).

If you look closely at their terms, there are more prohibited countries:

I can access this service without any problems. But it seems that the account creation page doesn't accept the request and keeps redirecting the user away from the page.

I tried to access the website to check how this payment gateway work but it looks like your Cloudflare banned my IP with the error "Access denied".

If this is also applied in your Payment Gateway I'm sure it would also cause some problems not only to those who are planning to use it but also customers who trying to pay using your payment gateway.

Same experience here, I tried to create an account and it keeps denying me access.
The login in page for those that already have an account works perfectly but the sign up page keeps showing the error below.

I am able to access the site from my side, both through My free VPN service and without the VPN activated. Usually when my free VPN on, it triggers Cloudflare, but I haven't experienced it this time round.

Maybe the service is blocked from your Countries?

I see the site prohibits the use from users of US[1], but if this is the case why the two users cannot access the site then this is not a good way to provide your service both business and its users. At least give them the ability to access the site and just prohibits from registering.
