The time for proof of work coins are over so I'd never recommend anyone to go with new POW coins.
The ones you mentioned LTC and XMR could be a decent investment and mining coin. ETH is also a proof of work till now.
Bitcoin is hard to mine but still one of the best investment.

You can see all POW coins there and you can check any coins and under the coin page you can find the links you can check the forum link or info(coingecko or coinmarketcap) to check if the coins has fair distribution and no premine and most of the POW coins are no ICO.

Not a fan of Zcash protocols. Optional privacy and trusted set ups aren't for me. If i want to use privacy coins , definitely would bet big on XMR.
