Maybe go one step further - allow bounty managers to moderate those people that carry their signatures. (feature for new forum ?)

A demerit system that determines which page the bounty shows on depending the amount of demerits their participant generate. The more spam a bounty generates - the further back their bounty shows. (Shitposter bounties are shown on page 5 or further back)
I think we can all agree that campaign managers need to start being held accountable for their participants. Howeer, I'm not sure allowing them to moderate their participants is a good idea. If they are getting punished then they don't need to moderate anything, but who they accept onto their campaign.

Although, this isn't a bad idea, to basically have more "moderators" on this forum I think it's a bit hard to implement as this forum has a lot of "trust issues" even with it's most senior members.
There are more trust issues with the non-DT members than there are with mods or DT members.  I'd say it's not even close.

Mods DO delete shitposts when they're reported and when the reports are good.  Not all of them, but I've seen quite a few of my reports handled just fine.  The thing is that those shitposts have to be reported in the first place, and not all of them are--and I don't think it's even possible for that to happen, given the sheer amount of spam here.  You'd need a team of mods or reporters working 24 hours/day and they'd still probably be overwhelmed.

In any case, there have been good suggestions that don't involve more mods or reporting, ones that have to do with holding bounty managers accountable and/or limiting noob access to bounties.  I don't think Theymos wants to go there.

I agree with holding bounty managers accountable for their shitposters.

Bounties that use bots or blatant shills should have their threads suspended and repeat offenders should have their threads deleted.

To make the idea a bit clearer - I am talking about a button (not report button) for mods-like people (trusted people with high rank - Sr. Member/Hero/Legendary that wouldn't risk to get muted/banned let's say for 1 week because of abusive posts deletion) to be able to just delete a shit post (NOT shot post:) based on some well defined criteria. People just knowing they exist and seeing them in action for a while will discourage to make any more shit posts.
Here is a thought on how to not make it an abusive tool, people's posts can ONLY be deleted, without mods-like people having the power to ban/mute/warn accounts that did shit posts etc. Basically, that would be the only function they would have.

Yeah I know I know, you would say that's what mods are for.

I was thinking more of a button(One Option only) for some hand selected users that are assigned only to delete shitposts from users that do that often, too often.

- One of the deleting criteria should be based on a user's posts history.

- Second criteria should be based on how often a user posts shit.

So on ...

I didn't think of an elaborate plan to implement this or if it could even be implemented, just wanted to share my thoughts about the spammy forum users issue and the paid posters to bump threads for visibility purposes.

Maybe smarter guys can add more to this, it's just a beta-thought.

And what exactly is your definition of a shot post?
And what criteria decides who can post what on the forum?
This could be viewed as a way of cleaning junk from the forum, and also stopping the growth of the so called 'shot posters'.

Giving other people the right to delete posts may determine some of them to remove post because they are biased.

I think that such thing would awake a lot of arguing and even fight on the forum, coz you know, there are as much opinions as much there are people on the forum. Someone can count a comment as a shitpost and another one, the creator of the post in the most of cases, may not agree with that and I believe such cases will happen all the time. Do we really need that?

I've already suggested something like this in my community suggestions thread here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/community-generated-suggestions-to-improve-the-forum-eventual-voting-on-them-4893744

I suggested that there's two report buttons and one of them is a 'sig spam' button that sends the report into a separate queue to moderators that only handle signature spam. That way the regular report queue isn't spammed to death with reports on spam (which half the forum is). More patrollers or dedicated mods that handle sign spam could be created to handle those extra reports which I also suggested.

Everyone in the forum has an option to delete spam. You just report it.
And reporting works just fine. I have noticed once I report a post then I goes handled in the next few hours maximum.

Here is an evidence from my report page. So, I can not tell that mods are not doing their job to have some police force. I will say we need more people (motivated members) to report every now and then, not just occasionally.

Mods have other attributes, I was thinking more of a subordinated person to mods.

Mod = Captain
Shit Posts Police = soldier

Or something similar.

The name can be changed to whatever, I only put it in the title to point directly to what I am referring to.

If the trust system have flaws, for sure it will happen here too. Trusting anyone is really hard even if you are one of the higher-ups and having green trust. For me, I think it's enough to trust the moderators in managing the reports. Your idea's advantage will lessen the works of the moderators and additional credentials to your profile. But do you know that it has many disadvantages too?

I said only for hand selected users, which means only trusted ones that use their brains and don't go on personal vendetta's.

Those suggestions are just similar with the Report badge that is currently in the making, there's no difference, both are helping the community. The disadvantage of having a new trust system about reports is, another hunger games will begin. We should focus on how we will develop and improve our forum as a participant here. I know that moderators can manage the reports by themselves so there's no problem at all, they're the legendary higher-ups.

We already have:
Global Mods - Can moderate all ranks of users and posts anywhere on the forum
Local Mods - Can moderate all posts in their section only and Newbies
Patrollers - Can moderate posts from Newbies in all sections

No to sure how many active Patrollers we have though TBH

Basically you're just asking to add more Patrollers.

We can simply report shitpost than to add another button like that. It would just start another issue if you add that kind of feature like being bias or something just like that. We're a community here just help our mods to spot those shitposters by reporting them or maybe think of a better idea than this to prevent shitposting.

Hmm, I'm starting to fully like the idea. Mods should have at least have their own subordinates like 2 subordinates every Mods or more (depending on how many they want as long as they can handle). Well you only got my and mdayonliner's opinion. Let's wait for other member's and Moderator's feedback about your idea. I hope they find you topic interesting as it is right now for me.

But what I'm thinking is should Moderators pay their subordinates for doing their job to help them from their task or it's just a voluntary? Of course, somehow those who will be selected as subordinates will ask for benefits for sure. But who knows if voluntarily will be just fine.

Everyone in the forum has an option to delete spam. You just report it. It will be dealt with. People looks to complain all the time about the spam issue and it would be better if they had a personal delete button. But yet they dont even report them when they see them. So why should they have a delete button?

I think it's a good idea to grant some trusted users to have the feature where they can freely delete any spam replies they see to somehow help our Mods but the problem is, it will defeat the reason why we have Mods.

Why not just active the delete button for others post? We can delete the posts which we do not like  Grin
Another abuse will rise up if that happens  Tongue

OP, well I somehow agree to your idea than to mdayonliner  Grin

One problem is, even though a user is trusted, there are still some possibilities that s/he deletes a post that s/he just don't want or something personal or s/he personally hates the user who posted it. It too hard to pick who to trust nowadays, but I still got some members that I fully trust.

Also, if I were about to get selected to be one of these members who will help Mods to delete spams, I think I will refuse if our title will be "shit posts police".

PS: I do not think this should be a good idea. Users will take advantages of it and they will start playing games to delete each others posts.
