I could not see any coin with market cap lower than 1M which has potential to pass 1M.

It depends of what you call short-term. For me two months is short-term, and in that case Ethereum, and only that.
Whens the phantom release?
There is no such thing as short term invesment. You ask for trade. But if you invest in Shift, you'll make a lot of profit. Invest in before Phantom release. Thank me later. 
For short term I would suggest to go through the ongoing ICO presale and make an investment. Surely a price pumping is assured when the presale gets over. This could might profit you double or triple the value compared to the other altcoins.
For short time i would prefer waves because it dropped more than expected.
And price is very good to buy now. Whenever we see so many greens on exchanges, waves price ll jump back to 200k sats as minimum. Waves is one of the undervalued projects atm.

sub million coins can do pretty much anything in the space of a few minutes. i don't think you can apply any reasoning to them. they do what the hell they want. one minute they could be heading for the stars, next they're worthless.
and don't forget that volume is probably the most important thing if you want to realise actual profit. a rise on 0.0001 btc is impossible to capitalise on.
at the moment the closest thing to a dead cert in alts is buying byteball shortly after the next airdrop when a proportion dump it, and then selling it shortly before the one after that when people are looking to stock up. there's been a 30% or so variance so far. that ain't dramatic but it's profit and it's with volume.

Matchpool and iexec are bad investments in my opinion, There is a better place to put your money such as ICONOMI, Adex and another. I don't ever see a good chart for iexec especially for matchpool. The price is always stable every time and there is no a lot of interest. Just try to choose those are having a lot of volatility will better to be your investment.

edgeless could be good as a casino one, but its price rised very much so it could be risky too. humaniq will release mobile app I think. If they make it successfully, this can bring a rise in the market.
buying shitcoins with the hope someone will pump it is a losing game. You won't know when to sell of if there will even be a pump. Find quality coins with a real community behind it. Buy and invest in good coins and they will grow, buy shit and you're playing the lottery hoping a bigger fool will come along and pay more for the shit coin than you paid.
[An opinionated comment] From the outsider’s point of view, it’s a lottery. You can do some research and that might stack the odds in your favor a bit, but this industry is running on chance and sometimes probably on insider informations. In the end nobody will/can tell you which one will be the next. You can just check on coinmarketcap which was the last .

I was looking for Unitus (UIS), they have sufficient volume to grow expecially in Cina.
