Not sure how much money you're trading with, but 50% for trading is too much of an allocation in general; well, unless you're only trading with money that's so small that you're fine losing.
I will also advise traders to use lower amount of money to trade.

But it depends on the amount of money, strategy used and the margin ratio. As low as 1x margin ratio, the percentage is not still advisable, but can be advisable for 0.2x or lower margin ratio, and also depending if the amount is big or not.

Generally advisable to minimize the amount placed on trading. Even if not thinking about trading, another thing to think about is if it is worth leaving the 50% on an exchange, it does not worth it.

I personally don't call it "investment" because it is trading and I don't consider trading as an investment. It is either a job or in case of altcoins it is mostly a gamble.
He is mistaking swing trading to short term investment but they are different. @Kaliandra, any trading that is not up to months is still trading and not holding or investment. If you have open trades for some days to many weeks, it is still swing trading.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope

so I will not sell it before there is a profit to be made.

As I did in the past without doing analysis; i call it conditional term trading even though i have to postpone sell execution due to floating lost for up to a few days. Maybe your trading activity will be somewhat routine during this sideways trend if you take 1 to 3% profit.
(Experience based advice) You don't mention analysis at all, if you don't use it then don't trade more than 20% of capital.

Actually traders are prefer with pump and dump coin, not a coin that has low volatility...
It's really not the same for anyone. Some people prefer trading low caps, while some prefer trading majors.

what's the point to trade a coin that has steady volatility and doesn't change to much? It's better to use that it as an investment since you don't need to wasting your time to every time check the graph for make a little profit.
This is why leverage trading exists. You can trade majors while amplifying the mostly-small movements with a certain amount of leverage the trader is comfortable with.

In any case, 50% is too high if you ask me specially if you are (or for anyone who is) new to the market. I personally set that amount to what I can afford to lose and based on the time I can dedicate to trading since I am usually too busy to spend time in the market. The most important factor to consider is of course the market situation itself. There are times that the market is more predictable than other times and those times are the best for trading. Otherwise when the market is extremely hard to predict (like these days) I prefer staying away.

I bought bitcoin and bitcoin was 50% I made a long term investment. and the other 50% I use for daily trading or maybe it can also be called a short-term investment. Indeed, if you look at short-term investments, to be honest, I have always been tempted by altcoins because if you trade daily in altcoins, if you can earn up to 20%, it can even be up to 50%. I just see that in altcoins the risk is very large. because if we fail our money can be drained out.
but I now prefer bitcoin for short term trading. because in bitcoin even though the ups and downs are not too high, the risk is not too high. and also the best thing about bitcoin is that the volume of ups and downs is very good. so for short term trading is very good. and little by little the money is increasing, but even though it's a little but it keeps going.
why did I name short-term trading the name trading ant? because of course we must have seen walking ants, even though they walked slowly but finally arrived at their destination, even though they arrived tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

but I am a beginner and have no experience in the crypto world, so I am ready to be corrected if my opinion is wrong.

You did the right thing but even the volatility range of Bitcoin is less its still a big swing for a day trader because even 5 to 10% swing can eat you total profits so better not to do day trading is my suggestion and if you still want reduce the capital to 10 or 20% instead of 50% and gradually increase it upto 30% and never increase beyond that. Where the returns are high the risk also comes along with it.

your advice is very good friend ,,, yes indeed like that is also good. but I do daily trading in bitcoin, of course I am personally ready to take risks, because if you buy at the top or are called buying at a high price then it doesn't matter to me, because if the price of bitcoin goes down and not to go up again. I will make bitcoin a long term investment.

The trick in altcoins trading is seeing the gains on the screen that will drive you to greed. Those green signals are an indication that you will lose if you join these currencies, and there is no clear way to determine when these currencies will rise.

It is better to search for projects that may have a future and invest in them for periods of a few days to a few months, while withdrawing your profits whenever they are generated.

There is plenty of data that show that most newbies doing short-term trading lose money in the end. Whatever secret or magic trading strategy that you have developed is likely to fail.

Also, keep in mind that people who promote or sell trading strategies don't make money from those strategies, they make money from you.

thank you for the advice friend ,, hopefully with the motivation from you make me to be careful in short term trading. but I personally don't worry because I trade short term in bitcoin. so I will not sell it before there is a profit to be made. because trading on bitcoin is safer, even if the price of bitcoin goes down but most likely the price will go up again. because bitcoin is different from altcoins, for altcoins if the price goes down then the potential to go up again is very doubtful unlike bitcoin. For example, many of our friends have experienced losses, such as investing in altcoins such as ftx, Luna, and so on. so by investing in bitcoin even though short term trading I feel safe.
