Well, I sell WoW gold myself for btc so I don't think it should be implemented in the games system, less profit for me:p

Bitcoin transaction fees does not go to game developers, they go to miners.
Correction, they go to pool owners. Do check with whoever is running your mining pool what happens to those transaction fees! Grin
Some pools pay the transactions fees to the pool miners. Other miners don't use a pool. My point was that it doesn't go to the game company.

That would be simply AWESOME using font 1 billion and black Grin

If this can be implemented in most games... hell, you can even get a deal with a player and sell/buy ingame while using the BTC client. BTC, the free world currency, ingame currency, etc...

Give me that damn paper where I have to sign Tongue

Bitcoin transaction fees does not go to game developers, they go to miners. Sure, a game developer could implement their own transaction fee for in-game bitcoin, but they could just as easily do that for non-bitcoin in-game currency.

Bitcoin potentially makes it easier for players to move money into an online game, to buy virtual items from the game company. However, for most people, using a credit card is even easier.

What's in it for the game developer? Typically, they'd want to be able to control the in-game currency and have a monopoly on exchanging it for other currencies.

I'm sure there are many ways in which a game developer can benefit from that, I haven't put too much tought on the possibilities, but the first one that comes to my mind is a transaction fee of each Bitcoin transaction. That surely would be enough incentive to use Bitcoin as in-game currency, as it would remunarete devs for their work.

Now, someone with a much better understanding of economics than me, needs to look at this opportunity and think on how to go to accomplish that in a profitable way. If Bitcoins can be used as in-game currency, benefiting game developers, and game users themselves at the same time, that certaintaly would be a brilliant way of taking Bitcoins to a much safer level.

World of Warcraft using Bitcoins as the in-game currency! That'd be cool!

If you ask me, yes. That would be awesome, especially considering this practice would increase the value of Bitcoins to outrageous levels. If multiple game developers adopt Bitcoin as the standard in-game currency, you could even exchange coins in between games. What do you think?
