As Satoshi's most trusted developer doesn't he deserve VIP status here or do you think a simple Legendary rank is good enough?
Even though dev Gavin Andresen is not to get VIP status, at the Forum I think he still does things that are useful, for some reason, As the Bitcoin community grows today, there are many different opinions of every bitcoin user and cryptocurency, Gavin Andresen is often regarded as the most reliable person onBitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.
However, he: Gavin Andresen once said that:
( I don't see myself as the king of Bitcoin. I don't want to be the king of Bitcoin ).

He still creates the best thing for Bitcoin in the future.

He won't be given one....for political reasons. That is not to say that he doesn't deserve one.

He deserves the developer badge, and he has it. He doesn’t deserve a VIP rank because he didn’t donate 50 BTC to the forum. I don’t think it’s political at all. I’m sure if he donated 50 BTC he would be given VIP status like everyone else.
It is of my opinion that Gavin played a sufficiently large role in early bitcoin development that he deserves additional recognition. Maybe not necessarily a VIP badge although when Mark Kappalous (or however you spell it) hosted the forum he was given a free VIP badge.

He took over development after satoshi stopped working on development and even though others also contributed, the bitcoin project may very well could have been abandoned if it weren’t for Gavin.

His views on the future of development differs significantly from those in power and he won’t be given additional recognition.

It is a pity that politics sometimes prevent the recognition of a valid contribution.

Despite the downfall of Mark Karpeles I'm pleased that Theymos hasn't removed the recognition of the contribution that he made on this forum and to Bitcoin.

Others may disagree but I believe that bad doesn't necessarily outweigh good. Each should be judged separately on its own merits.

With political opinion "good" and "bad" are even more subjective.

True. And proven very easily by reading some conservative supporting  comments upthread.

It might be time for theymos to strip him of his developer badge as it is no longer relevant.

He made an effort in the past that should be recognised imo. Stripping a badge from an old developer isn't a good idea, maybe changing it to "old developer" is better.

Gavin is officially listed at bitcoin.org as being the developer with the 4th most commits to Bitcoin Core with 1,101.  He obviously and most definitely deserves the Developer Badge.

Well actually Gavin does not work anymore as Bitcoin developer since February 2016, once he was one of the lead developers but that was already a long time ago. Maybe a special page with historical names is more realistic or special badge for people who did in the past great work for Bitcoin.

Quote from wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavin_Andresen:

As of June 2017, he has not contributed to Bitcoin Core since February 2016. His commit access on GitHub was revoked in May 2016.[6]

Terminated.
Yes, if the rank is something along the lines of: "Govt. compromised since 2011".

Please use your brain for once, that is if you have one. The only way that I could rationalize this thread, given the user that made it is that it is a pathetic attempt at getting some merit.

And also has the developer Badge.

What are you talking about? He already has the rank of legendary. And also has the developer Badge. Do you want to give him a CIA badge?

I read it as "CIA badger" at first and that made me very very confused.

Seriously though - anyone who cares already knows who he is and the other 99.99% of bounty-hunting excrement on this forum probably doesn't even know who Satoshi is. Actually now that I think of it - nobody does. It's been a long week is my excuse.

This topic would be better suited for the meta board as it directly concerns the forum. And there is where members discuss and make decisions on issues like this.

I think he deserve a better Rank than the current one. Honor should be given to who deserve it, his heroic contribution to the development of this forum cannot be over emphasize. If i may suggest, let other team  members consider Gavin Andresen a VIP Rank..
