I don't see anything wrong there, so you shouldn't worry. I have visited the site by clicking enter, and everything seems fine to me. Most probably, they have added the enter option to click manually to prevent bot attacks. Bots are unlikely to click this way, so there couldn't be a DDOS attack. So it will prevent the site from being down. I believe everything is fine.

I am quite curious to know if this was a form of security update or it's just something regular I alone am facing.
You are not the only one seeing it, I can see it too. But what are you afraid of? You do not provide any information about yourself on the site. You do not do anything like KYC. You do not provide anything like payment on the site. So what are you afraid of when you have nothing important to fill on the site than to check some information?

Maybe it's because am not able to use the bpip more frequent this day makes me not to even notice that there's a slight changes in it, but as you have already highlighted here, there's nothing much to worry about regarding that, as long as it does not compromise or make demands on anything that has to do with revealing our private informations, there's nothing to get scared of while using it for any reason.

Looks like your fears should be settled and you might consider locking this thread now. If you ever have any questions about BPIP you should visit the thread dedicated to the project, they will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

I also noticed such a thing some weeks back I think, and I wasn't too sure about the new display I got on my screen. I thought it was some sort of error just like when we have Bitcointalk showing us that error sign. After sometime I discovered that it maybe an update to it, but am still a little bite confused, had to leave it for sometime maybe it might pop up to the previous fixture I'm familiar with.

Op I don't understand what you are getting so worried about. You may lose any information from bpip.org website, or you are worried about any transaction problem here. There is no such thing inside bpip.org only here this website is created to verify everything about your account. Because this website does not require any KYC due to which you will not have any problem you can stay free.

He is worried that the domain has been hijacked and that the link is suspicious. There's nothing wrong with that, it's good that they are being vigilant and cautious Smiley

As others have somewhat accurately said, the "Enter" page is to filter out legitimate traffic from illegitimate traffic.

Illegitimate traffic will be stopped after loading just one word/link, while legitimate traffic will be let in ..in comparison to all ttaffic using resources to load the entire homepage (causing issues during high traffic periods or when there is intentional ddls/denial of service attacks).

Hopefully the workaround serves its purpose!

He is just a newbie and we all know DDOS attack like events might have created some skepticism among the hearts of newbies and this OP is also being skeptical about this link, and we also have learned that by clicking on simple link which we don't know where it will take us, is so risky because it might be a phishing link and once you clicked on it, your account credential, or password etc. type things will be gone. Therefore it is not wrong for OP to ask about it.

We should remain chill, I hope you will not mind me. Other than this. Dear OP, I will say, maybe the owner of this website have put a link there to stop the DDOS attack maybe it might be of some technique to stop that, but I am not an expert here, but I am not using BPIP for sometime but I get to aware of it from this forum and still get to know about it is working from this forum.

The thing is, we should take precautions and not become that skeptical about everything, and if your doubt it then the best practice is to not use it for the time being and let things settles down a bit.

However recently I noticed it no longer opens the homepage by default but rather opens this page below which I would have to click the Enter button first before I would be redirected to the regular homepage.
To fight against DDOS attacks, BPIP team add this mini step, Enter to reduce chances to attacks from bots.

I am curious that you already created one topic about BPIP
Having issues with BPIP

So why did you create this new topic?

You can continue your discussion in that previous topic.

This topic even does not belong to Meta because BPIP is not about Forum issues.

The best topic to discuss about BPIP issue is in its service announcement thread.
[BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action]. The link is to a post of suchmoon that talked about Enter solution too.

Lock this thread and keep your discussions or report about issues in that thread, please.

You are worried about what exactly?
Even if something does happens with website, it's not like someone is going to get your information from BPIP website and expose your nude photos and video in public, unless suchmoon has become a pro hacker with new skills.  Wink

After all, it is the Bitcointalk Pubic Information Project.    Tongue

As long as you are on the right site, which is BPIP.org, you are safe.
Not always on the right site, sometimes after ddos malicious actors inserted malicious codes in the site that can steal information, infect users device etc. but its not always the case.

After visiting, if you hover the anchor text (Enter) the url shows
Code:
https://bpip.org/a11
I doubt its something to be afraid of, when you access it you will go on bpip.org working site's page.

However recently I noticed it no longer opens the homepage by default but rather opens this page below which I would have to click the Enter button first before I would be redirected to the regular homepage.
It's because of a recent DDOS attack against BPIP and suchmoon has added this "Enter" page before visiting the main page:

But some pages are not loading or take more time than usual but homepage is still the one facing attack so it is not coming up no matter how many times refreshing it.
I have replaced it with a dummy page than should now have a link to the real home page but it probably won't last long until it gets attacked too. Unfortunately this will be a long story until the attackers run out of fresh IPs.

Anyway, it looks like the attacker is getting bored, traffic is easing off. If anyone is still experiencing issues with the site and/or the extension - please let me know. It should be working fine unless I screwed something up and blocked something I shouldn't have. The "Enter" link on the home page will remain there for a little longer, just in case the attacker reads this and gets all petulant again and decides to throw more traffic at it.

So, no need to worry, it's planned and displayed that way for everyone.  Smiley

As long as you are on the right site, which is BPIP.org, you are safe. The members of the forum who are now in charge of that site are always monitoring and maintaining the site for visitors safety, so if there is anything wrong, they'd probably tell us. So, I guess there is no issue with that, as I am also having the same scenario here and the two comments above confirmes that it's not only one or two persons that are experiencing it.

I also notice that change, but that's not the only change I notice after it came back online; there was also something of a time error. I mean, when I tried searching for member profiles using the Bpip, I did get some errors like the sites couldn't be reached, but after a little time it always came back active, but it continued the more I tried to search and look at different profiles.

But why is this topic here instead of just asking it in one of the Bpip official threads, which is some ungoing discussion regarding the attack and upgrade?

Ever since BPIP came back online after the recent DDoS attack I discovered something a little weird when I try accessing the BPIP homepage. Initially when I try visiting BPIP it opens up this homepage automatically.

However recently I noticed it no longer opens the homepage by default but rather opens this page below which I would have to click the Enter button first before I would be redirected to the regular homepage.
