I'm a newbie and I have this passion to develop myself professionally in the system and to acquire a reasonable crypto and stock per say that I can hold on to.
After a simple research, I discover that stock can generally offer more stable returns compare to crypto. thou crypto offer higher gain.
Do I need to choose stock over crypto?
I don't want my attention to be divided.

It's simply your choice to be honest. Why don't you diversify your asset allocation ?
Choosing what % to divide it to, will again be your choice. Crypto is highly volatile and if you can handle that then keep a larger portion invested in crypto.
If you cannot handle high volatility then consider investing a larger portion into stocks and the rest in crypto.

I started in crypto first, then learned about stocks market from my friends, and I don't wanna bother with it. 1) I don't like anyone (government/taxman) prying on my investments 2) Hate kyc 3) iirc they have fixed hours to trade daily — I'm sure they are more reasons, but these are few top of my head, it just doesn't look like it'd suit me.
Crypto is quite a good ways for us to make money in the financial world. If op is thinking which one to learn or go for, then I think he can go for crypto fist because I know so many stock traders and that are into cryptocurrency now because it is very difficult to manipulate. I would always support cryptocurrency over any financial market since it is quite easier for us to make money in crypto compared to other financial market. Markets like forex, stock and others can be manipulated and we might even lose more compared to the crypto market where we can always make money just by holding any good tokens.

Disagreed. Cypto markets are manipulated way more than stock market, this is due to the fact that crypto is unregulated space, although lately most cexes require KYC which may make traders accountable but then there are dexes where you can trade freely.

I am sorry to disappoint you, you might think that you asked an important question to you but I will tell you that your question is silly. Coming to a crypto group to ask between cryptocurrency and stock will not get you a sincere answer. It is just like going to Christians to ask if it is right to choose Jesus or Muhammad. For you to get the right answer to your question, you need to go to an independent body not related to crypto or stock for financial advice. That is the work of financial advisors. But if you insist and still need my advice, I will tell you to buy crypto. Please don't ask my why...

First of all welcome to the forum if you are new. Secondly to your question, my answer is that you need to have knowledge about both whatever you do whether it is stock or crypto. You will have to learn. Neither of these two things is worth investing in without learning.

For the stock market, you need to have a good amount, on the contrary, if you invest in crypto, you don't need a certain amount, you can start crypto with a small amount. Just as the pros and cons of any job should be considered before starting any job, whether it is the stock market or crypto, both of them suffer from ups and downs. You must know that where you invest your money, your entire money may be lost and you may have to wait for a long time to get your money back.

I prefer cryptocurrencies over the stock market because there is less risk of losses when you choose a good coin and more profit for less money than stock. If you understand the market and your coin selection is good, go for cryptocurrencies.

The truth is that only you can decide what you really want in your life. Even if we all give you our respective opinions you will still be the one to make the final decision yourself. Crypto is highly rewarding just as you have rightly stated, but it requires a lot of patience and time. While dealing with the patience, you also have to be careful so that you don't fall into scam. So depending on your current reality you should make your decision based on that. If you are someone who desperately need money to be solving your needs on daily and weekly basis, then stock should be the best option for you, because if you go into crypto you might be disappointed as crypto usually takes longer time to pay and if you are not careful you might sell off your crypto assets below what you bought it. But if you are someone who can still live your life off your investments and have other sources of income for daily and weekly needs, then you should consider crypto.

Basic guidelines, before hallucinating high profits.
Do I need to choose stock over crypto?
You may choose to place your shares based on your wishes, crypto market or market other than crypto, you have the right to do so as those who have done so, What is certain is that all forms of investment or trading have risks, the crypto market really requires the best possible understanding or knowledge of crypto in assessing your assets.

You can do whatever you like with your shares in the crypto market, don't ignore the points above, even if you are guided by a professional.

There are conditions whereby choosing stock over crypto will be the best, but this will depends on the cryptocurrency in which you're investing on, still on this, on the other hand, we may not completely agrees that stocks are more profitable than crypto if we are considering a coin like bitcoin, we are going to be successful in holding bitcoin over time and see enough reasons why it should be more preferred to gold.

You don't need others to decide that for you, it depends on what you understand better. You should research both markets and see where you think you can find what you are looking for.

If you ask me, I would say that stocks might have more stable options for investors but cryptocurrencies can provide better returns, and if you did some research, you should know that when there is more risk, there tend to be higher rewards, so if you are investing in cryptocurrencies and ready to bear the risks, you will get higher returns in a shorter period compared to stocks.

However, it depends on which market you think you can understand better, you should go with the one you can handle easily.

It is not good advice to focus all your efforts on just one investment because there are multiple sources of income and many investments that could quickly bring you to a place of financial independence. Overdiversification is not advised, but not diversifying at all can be quite as bad as that.

Having stock investments and crypto investments is not so difficult and should not be difficult for you to manage. You mostly feel you cannot right now because you have not tried it.

Having investments in stocks and crypto can give you more confidence about the future, but if you are looking for one to invest more in, choose crypto.

How about you invest in both and not choose one over the other, stocks has their benefits, Bitcoin also has its benefit. I said Bitcoin instead of crypto because investing in Bitcoin and still choosing to invest in altcoins isn't diversification but my advice is for you to diversify into Bitcoin and stock. Stock can pay you dividends but that isn't possible with Bitcoin and those dividends can be used as cashflow to help you when you're in need of money as the crypto market isn't always stable to give you profit regularly.

You don't, if you must choose then it has to be Bitcoin over stock. Investing in both Bitcoin and stock won't divide your attention. Being an investor that wish to gain financial freedom, you should have different investment to build your portfolio to be strong just incase one market isn't favourable at a particular time that you need fiats, you can switch your attention to other of your investments. Stock and Bitcoin are two different types of investment with different types of research and you can add more investments like Forex etc.

I won't think twice before choosing cryptocurrency over other form of investment or stock that I hold, infact bitcoin is not in the class of stock because it role caught across many aspect that need alot of multiple phases of responsibility before attaing such level.

Bitcoin is not in stock level, although may be other altcoins who failed to build a network can be categorised with other stock but not bitcoin.
Choosing stock over crypto, you do think its a perfect idea or not? Everyone have a better opinion when it involves the market. We have proper knowledge of what we want in the market, I know it will be really difficult for most of these investors but they have to put in the work to survived. Cryptocurrency are important form of investment in the market and it really creates aides for investors.

@OP. Don't be confused.

You can take one step at a time learning the first stocks or cryptos of yours. But if you ever choose to get into crypto, obviously we'd tell you to buy Bitcoin.

That's why you don't have to rush things but I'd tell you that the market is so quick and volatile that it changes over the period of time. The price that you might be seeing right now won't be seen in a couple of years as there is no other way it will go but up.

Before starting an investment it is good for you to first have understanding of what you want to go into , asking people to give you which will be the best,  many people will give answer based on what they think. I'll advice you to make research between the two and to see which one you will be to invest without no problem.

Tbh, that decision is definitely going to be your call because everyone have different wants. I have friends that are hyper focused on just one market — it's either crypto or its stock. They don't intertwine at all. For someone, it's both markets. I've even seen extremist that participate in all markets including forex especially if an opportunity presents itself. For instance, the epic Nvidia rally that has rocked the stock market in the last year was purchased by many crypto bros that diversified into it early.

You need to decide. To make it easier, take a moment to explore both markets and test your strategy on them then make your decision based on your findings.

Stocks are more predictable since they rely onto an underlying asset which is a company. While cryptos rely to almost nothing except the market, so for me, it's clearly harder to predict crypto market directions than stock market ones. If you want to trade crypto you must be very quickly aware of important news for the market and be able to analyse them the quicker you can in order to take a decision based on your analysis. Since the crypto market never closes and is opened 24h a day, 365days by year, it could be very intense and exhausting for most people.

The two of them have risks involved, and as you go on research I think you should have know the advantages and the disadvantages of both of them and you should have as well know about the profits return both of them is bringing; therefore, do we need to say anything to you based on choice of which one to go for? I think it is a straight forward something that you will just decide by yourself.

Do your research and reason the advantages of both of them then decide where to start from. Make sure you learn both of them adequately, gain some experience and don't rush.

Crypto can give and at the same time can take as far as it's unrealized because of the Volatility nature of crypto but the profit you can make from crypto coins, you can't make that from buying ordinary stock unless you are a margin trader and that's very risky to involved in as a newbie you are. There are some crypto that are less risky compare to others, I mean the likes of Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Solana, these coins hold larger market cap and has a lot of institutional investors.

Since you interested in stock and crypto, why not do it this way. Divide your funds into half, but half for crypto but make sure Bitcoin is included when diversifying your investment and used the remaining money to buy half of stock you want to buy but make sure it's stock that the company will not run down soon so you don't end up losing the value of your investment. Make sure to buy crypto too at the bottom, and avoid shill coins like memes.

DYOR is the first thing anyone should tell you, you're the one who knows the size of your pocket, you're the one who knows your risk appetite, you're the one who knows the size of your income, you're the one who knows everything about yourself.

Talking about crypto, you must understand that there are quite a lot of cryptocurrencies, so which one of them do you want to buy, bitcoin? Altcoins? You can as well buy bitcoins and stocks, you're not going to be looking at your portfolio every minute in the day, so the talk of divided attention does not count.

Sounds like you already have your answer, there is no need to create this topic, one offers stable returns like you claimed and the other offers higher gain, to me it seems you are better off having investment in both, you talked as if you don't want to miss out on both so what are you waiting for?

I don't accept that stock offers stable returns though, here is what I believe, stock is far reliable than crypto, but return on investment takes years, stable returns means that once you invest you start getting some dividends.

I think this belongs to Bitcoin mining or those who are running Nodes for other altcoins, they get paid daily, I bought some miners last month and I got them shipped to me, I did this to get away with passive income, just to survive this hard times.

Yet I have my investment portfolio as well.

You really know what we will answer but at the end, you've mentioned that you don't want to divide into both. Well, if you can change your mind, that's what I am going to say to you. Why not just choose both of them? Buy Bitcoin and hold and then buy the stock that you want to hold since you want to have a stable return through it. But I tell you, not all stocks are going to be stable, they're also as volatile as the crypto market but not that volatile at all. Learn about what you truly prefer because you have posted and asked on the Bitcoin forum and you know that all if not majority of us here are into crypto.

I quite agree with you and say that OP should think towards diversification, and that’s investing into bitcoin and other digital assets too or physical assets. But if OP is bent on taking just one then my answer is to go for bitcoin. Bitcoin is not complicated as stock which you might have to find the right one to invest. There are stocks that can easily go down to dust, something that I don’t see happening with bitcoin at the moment. When we talk of bitcoin people easily associate it with its volatility, bitcoin has shown in the past two years now that it is getting less volatile which is the only advantage that stock had ahead of bitcoin. But for safety reasons I will say diversification into both is better
I agree and that's a good comparison. The only difference between Bitcoin from the stocks that he may be interested in is that there are no central powers to Bitcoin and there won't be the owners having a larger share. He may logically think of it as with the whales that own a lot of Bitcoin but it's still different from a CEO that owns a lot of stocks and dumps it all at once and the scare is there from most of the followers of that stock. Unlike in Bitcoin, if there is a huge institution that dumps a lot of Bitcoin to the market, there are sure a lot of takers and are likely to buy those cheap Bitcoins.

I believe, the two business are very good to make profits but if you want to achieve big profits that will make you to start establish other businesses, I will advise you to choose crypto business because is not control by the government and it pump higher whenever it is time for the bull season to reign.

If you want your attention not to be divided, try to use your  personal research to include your choice in all the suggestions people  have given to you, and you will discover that the majority of people chose crypto business because that is what make newbie to grow higher financially in the industry. Not that you will not make profit from stock business but the opportunity crypto business will give to you to accumulate profits, it will not be there in stock business.

before choosing between crypto and stocks, first consider how much you can afford to lose if your investment performs badly. Also think about your expected returns and your investment timeline, stocks can generally offer more stable returns. But crypto can potentially offer higher gains.

What do you mean by "you don't want your attention to be divided"? You're not trying to bs a stick broker or a crypto trader are you? You're just looking for ways to invest. You can invest in both and give both full attention.
In my opinion, what you first need to do is study both investment. Know all you need to know about the both of them. Do you research and if it means getting a professional to put you through, do that.
If you have the funds to invest in both, then by all means do.
I don't believe they're mutually exclusive. You can only get to choose if you don't have the funds to go into both of them and if you don't have enough funds then I don't think there's a lot of choice to be made because bitcoin is relatively cheaper to invest in that stock.

Diversifying your investment is a good thing, the percentage or amount you decide to go with for both investment is totally up to you.
I'd even advise not to stick with just these two if you have the money. Investing is one of the ways to make your money work for you. All you need to do is carry out proper research and be sure you know what you're investing in.

it is your choice whether to choose stocks or crypto, or you want to choose both, because both types of instruments have their own risks, and there is no guarantee that when you invest in stock "a" it can give you a stable return, it could be that the stock is a failure and you experience severe losses. and conversely, it is possible that crypto "a" provides much better performance compared to what is offered by stocks as good as google or apple.

so the choice is yours whether you want to invest in stocks or crypto. but in my personal opinion, it is better for you to choose bitcoin, even when you have limited capital you can do dca and just hold it for the next few years, believing that it is better than holding stocks.

There is very little thing to do if you buy bitcoin only and ignore altcoins, especially if you opt for DCA investing strategy which is by far the most newbie friendly. Once you set DCA plan, all you have to do is learn how to properly and safely store your bitcoin and you are good to go.

Bitcoin is not that volatile again like altcoins. Most other coins are volatile. If you can be patient for the bear market to come and the price of coins including bitcoin have decreased significantly, you can invest on bitcoin. Or you can just start DCA with little amount of money continuously.

I do not know about stocks much but not that they are not volatile, but they are better than cryptocurrencies as they are less volatile. Study both price histories. Knowing the price histories of the assets that you want to invest in can help you a lot.

As for altcoins, they are very volatile. Invest the amount of money that you can afford to lose on them.

Should I choose chicken over egg?
Should I choose Lambo over Harley?
Should I choose iPhone over Android?
Should I choose mother over father?

Again and again a subjective question, you know exactly stock has lower return and lower risk, while crypto has higher return and higher return. Since you're the one who want to invest, why you're relying on someone else opinion?

Articulate your financial goals and vision for yourself. And as you do that you will find your answer. No one here can tell you to pick stock over crypto or crypto over stock, it is your sole decision. Personally, I haven't been involved in stocks because of its high level of entry despite its relative stability and less volatility. I got into crypto because it with less than a 100 dollars, I can get in and increase my holding weekly, dailly, monthly or which ever way I wanted and I could do it without any professional help or confusion on what to invest in. I started with bitcoin and have been investing in bitcoin for a long time. It has paid me well. There are other people who have great experience with stocks too. Whatever be the case, it is left for you to do your own research, and make the final decision on which to choose.
