If you buy now you're probably still early compared to the rest of humanity :-)
Yerp.

GPU mining has a large learning curve and requires a decent amount of time/attention even after you know what you're doing. I currently have 4 cards sitting idle after almost 2 years of nonstop operation. It was a relief to turn them off.

I've turned off my gpu's a while ago aswell (the ones that didn't already shut down because of the excessive heat they created ...)

so if it's a gpu you also need to keep your pc running I would advice against it if you don't have a good cooling system to go along with it. Probably better to just buy them.

I have a mid range graphics card and tried mining in a pool and damn does it get loud and I was told is terrible at mining. With people designing and building rigs exclusively for mining e.g. FPGA and ASIC coming up, should I even bother? Would I be better of investing a bit of real world money for a few BTC, throwing out the odd referral and/or gambling?
