Ive had windows 8 on my computer for 2 months now. It sucks. Theres to many background tasks running. One drive is running. My hard drive is constantly chattering. My CPU is being used to much because my fan is always running now. What a waste of money. Gaming is slow in windows 8.1. Most of the my old games cant run on windows 8.1 even using compatible program, what evever. And I wouldn't bother with windows 10. Just another waist of time. To be quite honest Windows operating systems Sucked from the beginning. MAC operating systems, 10 billion times better but they don't make them for PC

Keep win 7 or XP would be great choice. Is win 9 available ?

Any new OS after Windows 7 doesn't really add enough to warrant you blatantly upgrading.  I'm using Windows 8 and it works out completely fine for me and I don't really feel the need to upgrade to Windows 10 in the future

Windows 7 is still pretty decent, theres no need to upgrade honestly.

Unless its some requirement specs for something, less upgrading means less things to learn.

You people are retards.

Its time to dump the windows crap and move to linux........

Start with Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon.

If you must, you can install playonlinux to run your windows apps.

Windows is for retards.

I totally agree with you, however I find Windows to be more comfortable for me.

8.1 is the latest and it's my favorite. Some people don't like the beauty of the new start menu as they refuse to get used to how to use it. It looks a lot better now than it did with the original Start menus.

Windows8 is ok if you can get over the UI change. I am still using WindowsXP and I like it a lot, it is fast and if it crashes, I have tools to retreive my files. I cannot say the same for Windows8. What I hate most about current new PCs is a combination of UEFI, gpt partition and windows licence in the bios, not Windows8 specifically. There are ways around the issues, but is such a hazzle to reinstall the whole system.

Windows 8 is more secure, boots faster, has better hard drive and memory management, plays games faster, and is more stable and leaner.

Yes the UI sucks, but that takes about 30 seconds to fix with a third-party application like ClassicShell, and then the UI is identical to that of windows 7.

I wouldn't pay to upgrade, but Windows 8 is objectively better software by many criteria.

Well, I guess for tablets the UI actually is better. It's easier and streamlined. I guess it also depends on what you're doing with your machine. If you're a developer or using the device professionally you may be better off with a classic UI.

Don't upgrade. Win 7 is perfect.

Win8 is retarded... don't even bother with it. I certainly won't be until 3+ years from now and we have to.. probably longer than 3 years come to think of it.

Windows 8.1 is much better than windows 7 for the low-end computers, it boots faster and requires less resources.

Really? I guess the best thing to do is get an SSD, if you haven't already... The difference in boot time or to load some application in general is a bigger difference than night and day... Doesn't the new additional interface use even more resources?

Yeah you should. Keep your Windows up to date in order to stay safe in regards to malware, trojans or viruses! I don't think the windows versions nowadays really use much more hardware power so you should be good to go.

Here's on point that may persuade others to update.

But not me Grin

I'm cautious and I know what I'm doing.

Yeah well, but what about attacks from the outside that you can't even prevent! Have you ever hooked an unpatched Windows 95 computer on to the open Internet? Some people just wait and see how long it takes for the computer to go completely nuts because someone took control.

That's 95 though, not 7; 7 is also being supported.

So I'm fine Cheesy

But I have seen that happen in my other school.

Yeah, you're right insofar as Windows 7 is still supported and will most likely receive current security updates for some time still! Is it really true that Windows 8 was rather crappy and Windows 8.1 really got better? If that logic holds true, Windows 9 will suck again? Cheesy

Most probably Cheesy

Stay with Windows 7 I'm sure many of us would have stayed with Windows XP if they hadn't essentially forced users to upgrade by ditching support for it, one thing I will say about Windows 7 is it's a lot easier to install.

Agreed windows 8 is horrible unless you wish for a mobile phone looking layout on your desktop.  You dont even get a start button with it to navigate, there are hacks to give you a start button but they aren't ideal.
