I really like the idea. I think that it could work... But I don't know if you are going to be able to take the place of BtcTalk here, besides that, I think there's still room in this field to launch another GOOD forum with a nice UI and so on...

Good luck!

I like this idea but I think I prefer this website as there are really lots of stuff that you can do, and you can read here. It's organized and categorized so you can usually see what you want to read or comment at even though there are times that some threads are misplaced.

Can you please state the question again so I'm sure I understand?
You are welcome! We are not going to worry about you not having an answer. This one was the most toughest. It repersents the attitude shared by most bitcoiners here and shows how controversial this kind of social platform can be. Anyway I will talk about this issue at length in my article to come; hope all devs will take in something as we in effect face similar challenges; so we'll come together.

BitcoinOnline.io, I have a few questions. First, can we use your web-site as a platform for those in favor of seasteading? Second, can't open BitcoinOnline.com.

I think we need to put together a list of social web-sites at the beginnig of the thread for people looking for a suitable place for them to socialize. What do you think? Which of your links is valid?

I know that this is kinda off-topic but I can give 5-10 invites to a similar alpha social platform I've been working on for a while now that's similar to your post.
If you want to check it out message me so I can send you a key.

Thanks for support!
I have a few questions: can your platform be geared up to be a web-site about seasteading?
Yes, I would take a look; PM me.

I feel we need to make a list of social network sites here as they come in so that folks know about them. I will put your site in it when it is runnig.

TheZucc, can you please post the link here? Where to find your site? And cross out these words I know that this is kinda off-topic - you are welcome; it's a devs' thread; these words wind up other users.

Kindly ignore posting in this thread. Please create your query on new thread guys.

1. Read UPDATE
2. I had made an update two days ago but only after this post of yours I saw the update did not get through. I had to post the update now again. This time I hope it's on the site visible. So thks for pointing this out.
3. Now would you kindly keep suggesting what you suggested about this thread? I might be wrong but I see only disscussion kindly going on and see no bumps in this thread.

To trash I use to write on various thread when they went to wake the thread but here I am loosing post count and sometime I use to report as well.

If you think you can give helpful update or series answer means you can go ahead answer in any thread. Unwanted bumped should be stopped bro.

BitcoinOnline.io, thx for support, but how are you going to address
this concern ?

If I understand your question correctly,
It will be addressed in the whitepaper. BitcoinOnline.io would be a mere template of a real (whole) world application.

So we don't have an answer ...

So is your intention to make your own crypto social network?

Why, the main objection has been lifted (see: UPDATE in post #1 and my reply to countryfree)
We can just seize on the opportunity and forge ahead.

I always thought that bitcointalk.org it is  social network for bitcoiners. I think that separate site for bitcoiners have no any sense, because we can use groups in Facebook and Linkedin.

BitcoinTalk would be classified as a forum . . .

Absolutely! Funny I just came across this thread while making a post to hire testers of my new social network for bitcoiners, lol. It's far from being complete. Launching 7/1/18 but feel free to join and check it out. Plan is to launch a coin / asset and distribute to users in airdrops and for using the site instead of mining. That's right, an ICD (initial coin distribution), not an ICO. There's actually much more planned but you can read about that in the press releases in July.

https://BitcoinOnline.com Let me know what you guys think and if any of you would like to help in ANY way please reach out to me using BitcoinOnline.io chat.

If there's a bitcointalk Forum, why should you look for other networking sites?...
They're all here and gathered here, from Staff, Moderators, Board of bitcointalk.org, Traders, Investors, and Speculators. Here, all together to find the best solution that suits his discussion, I think bitcointalk.org is quite capable for that

I have voted 'no', like most of the others, because I don't think we need such web-site. Social networks created for regular people to make it more convenient for them to find the info they are looking for. This "convenience" is something bitcoin community doesn't need at all since most people here know how to use Google (I'm not joking, I think that the vast majority of the internet users doesn't know how to use Google properly) in order to find the info they need. Also most Bitcoin related questions are covered on this very site and I'm sure most Bitcoin top-rankers are hanging out here, they just don't want to reveal their real names and I understand them. So, we kind of already have a perfect site for us.

How about a social information network that would directly connect users to crypto “influencers” or anyone really knowledgeable in crypto. They can get rewarded for their services

And i am not talking about being rewarded with an in-app token created by the developers but actually BTC ETH and maybe a few other cryptos accepted by the influencer.

Had this in mind. But seeing that you can try and find devs here on bitcointalk pretty nicely how would your concept of "a social information network" differ from this forum?

I hate all social networks and what one of the feature I like best about BTC is that's nearly anonymous. Having my picture behind my BTC address is the last thing I want. And I'm not saying that because I'm using BTC for buying illegal stuff, I just like my privacy.

Privacy of our users is the first thing to protect in a network to come.
so don't worry. Nobody's going to see your real face if you don't want to.
Perhaps we need to see how we can use this AI-enabled technology to handle photos the way the users like to:

Okay, only so many people would ever use bitcoin, just as so many transactions would be possible in a given period of time.

As it has been hinted, we've got to reach out to other people to give diversity and foster innovation (if not in bitcoin's tech or paradyne, yes on its implementation). That would probably not be the case in a bitcoin-centered social network. Sure, in such a network new ideas might come out, and yes, it's as vulnerable to bad intentions and flooding as bitcoin itself.

That phrase mentioned every once in a while regarding that people in bitcoin are their own enemies comes to mind. Okay, you had a great idea, developed critical mass for a project, etc.... now, how do you convince all prospective clients/users to get engaged with the project you developed? There would be the challenge. Not exactly what was asked here, but I did express my vote for "no", no need for a btc social network.

It is similar to what Ripple tried when they entered the Crypto currency scene. Link your social media account and real identity for everyone to know how much money you have and what you are spending it on.

I did not sign up for Bitcoin to tell the world, what I spend my money on daily. Why do they need to know what I bought and where I bought it from? Thank you, but no thank you.

If we have this forum, why we need social network - it would be complete waste of time  Wink

Because the forum is for discussion.

Quote
a website or section of a website that is used for public discussion of a specific topic and on which users can submit or read messages:

The social media site is for befriending eachother and getting to know other people, and build up friends in the crypto world.

Its much easier to organize if you have friends. For example if you get like 30 friends, you can then start a joint project for some bitcoin idea, would be more easy than to get 30 volunteers in this forum.

Could a few million facebook users gather in one group and put pressure on facebook to incorporate bitcoin?

I do not see any reason to as why not, a petition could be good too towards current social networks to incorporate it

I have joined with some bitcoin group, but mostly they just do a spam with their reff link. this is not effective. as far as i see zapchain is other nice place to discuss about bitcoin or cryptocurrency, besides this forum. and also they have earning system.

You means new forum template of bitcointalk? i ever see about new template/software about this forum.

But i personally comfortable with this forum now, because this is simple and don't need more bandwith to open the forum.
as far as i see other bitcoin social network site is use cool website template and need more bandwith to open it, but they unsuccessful in the end.

Bitcoiners should not enclose inside "only bitcoin" social places as if we were people with some disease , we need to do the opposite, to infiltrate and get this idea inside the already stablished social networks or places.
Bitcoiners should not enclose inside "only bitcoin" social places as if we were people with some disease , we need to do the opposite, to infiltrate and get this idea inside the already stablished social networks or places.

But most of us here care about our privacy given that bitcoin is related to some shady activities such as transactions on the deep web. If I value my anonymity that much, why would I even care to join a social media to expose myself? That's how most people here thinks.

A social media site, specifically dedicated to all cryptocurrencies and crypto-related projects, or other decentralized ideas, would be perfect.

It would not necessarly need to have geek/nerd feeling, i`m sure we could make it a really mainstream social media site if we market it correctly.

We just need a good team to get working on it! Zuckerberg 2.0 for hire...

I would like to answer the OP by asking this question
Why do you think is there any need to create any social networking site for bitcoiners? i can give you many reasons that there is no need fot it
Reasons:
1.we can use bitcointalk.org to discuss anything we want.
2.we have bitcoin Facebook group if we want social networking we can use that.
3.You will not find much bitcoin developers and users that you can find on bitcointalk (it's the most popular forum from the beginning)

Ad maiora!
unfortunately, even with the best intentions, if you build a btc social network it will just become much like bitcointalk. a ripe hunting ground for scammers to target suckers. also, if you offer any sort of btc rewards for posting content it will also become what bitcointalk has become, a cess pool of shallow shit-posts that serve only to gather micro-earnings for semi-literate bottom feeders.

there is already a social network for core devs, its a private mailing list. if you arent on it, you dont belong there.

I had voted for this because social network for cryptocoin users is long overdue, Just make it to look pretty like facebook stuff.
Why not use facebook itself to contact ? Creating a network like Fb is gonna take a lot of investment and can't sustain itself if not enough people are interested(and bitcoin group is a small group). If you want to talk to some one like FB why not give your FB id to him? Or for that matter make it public in your profile so anyone can add if they find you interesting to talk with.
FB is for the people that uses fiat while the one that OP is talking about will be used by the crypto community.
It is quite expensive OP should take note of that too.
Who said FB is only for people who use fiat, make a FB account(if you don't have one) ask some person from here if you like to talk for his FB id and then talk there or just make a bitcoin group there which anyone can join , this really is not worth creating a new site.
Pretty response mexxer-2 FB is for the general populace while OP wish to create a social network for only the crypto community.

True that same goes for here I'd say. But I feel a social network is unnecessary , if you want to talk to some one just ask their FB/Twitter?any Im service why create a whole new site just for bitcoins.
P.S: There is a option called quote you know

FB/Twitter is mostly they just promote some service which they can earn coins from do it. but i think twitter is more effective than fb, maybe because twitter is more popular than fb now.

There are a lot of projects related with Bitcoin, a lot of professionals take part in developing a huge variety of services and applications. Should we build and maintain a social networking web-site for core developers and professionals?

Please vote!

PS.1 Among the aims of such a web-site would be providing services, such as users' profiles. Or blogs or other social-media oriented capabilities. Those who are members of a team working on a new app or service would be able to post more news about how things are going on with their product, and users to track which features are going to be added. And so on.

The basic question here is whether professionals and developers need a social network, a web-resource with focus on profiles and aiming to make it easier to find out more information about a person, his/her skills, experience and areas of interests (including professional ones and when seeking job to be paid in bitcoins)?

And if YES, which features of such a service would you call the most important in the prospect of what folk need?

PS.2 I have yet more questions on the subject. But as I didn't yet make my mind up on whether or not actually to develop this project, I would like first to listen to other people's opinions. Every answer to the questions above is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

UPDATE

As many vote "No" I would ask please put what your objections are like it was done by countryfree and others. My great respect goes to him. And his concerns have been answered. Guys, my great respect goes to all who voted "no". However technologies develop. And this enables us to address certain concerns and go ahead and create a platform that differs from what has been known, one for all of us.

Q&A
Q:
So is your intention to make your own crypto social network? (jahn-quid)
A:
The idea as I put is earlier is to enable users to track the progress of this or that project; they are many. Our users have to get what no other platform provides and to take advantage of decentralized solutions and the blockchain technology. It comes naturally.

As users ask me what my intentions are I feel I need to put it that I seek to listen to what users suggest and want there be in place to help the entire crypto-community go ahead.

As many propose to create an independent state for all of us and go seasteading I put forward my plan (see the link to bitcoid.com) . I also asked users what policies in the interests of all bitcoiners an independent state should hold and I got a bunch of nice suggestions from our dear folks on policies . And among the first goals are the building of the transit to space and creating seasteads. And so are my intentions. So we have a plan:

Building Launch Loop at the equator and creation of an independent state on high seas

You can see that my intentions are just exactly the same as our amazing folks want. But having a plan doesn't mean we actually have all those things done.

And here comes in a social network we are talking about. You won't expect much enthusiasm among our people if you promise to form departments or ministries in a state to come and have them handle different parts of the whole project as they are meant to get things done in a centralized fashion. Not very inspiring, right?

Many would say all the design and construction of floating cities to come must be taken care of in a decentralized way so that through using the blockchain all users are able to see where each dollar or BTC goes to at each stage from the design to the construction and then having things up and running.

That is what our social network is to be about. In it we set the aim to have specialized blockchain-based solutions integrated to enable a user with an easy and user-friendly means to take part in the building of seasteads and other things users will approve. As we phase out the governance in a centralized way through a new platform that we aim to develop users themselves will take part in the designing, manufacturing, getting funded and controlling spendings in a decentralized way. Through having this platform we're getting away from what has been ineffective and do things in a fashion where each user have a say at each stage. Does this make sense? Is this kind of goal worth trying?

Please vote and comment.

So this project has to be about developing something new that has never existed before.

Our ultimate goal will be achieving full independence and recognition among other states.

Our citizens will have a passport to be recognized in the world. And related to this goal is an objective for our developers to come up with an absolutely new technologies of identity and make it sure due to it our citizens and their rights are protected all over in the world.

So guys we are in effect building our own country to be a home for all of us. The role of a social network is to help us to stand up to challenges that we face together. This platform can provide many diverse services. So please keep proposing. Many of you have actually proposed what might be of utility and meet certain demand. Thank you so much for your taking part in the constructive discussion!

Please post in this thread links on papers or articles on using blockchain technology to track projects.

This topic is about development, new advances in technologies and programming techniques, ones that emerge right now and that we have to use to fully satisfy our future users. What we actually are trying to develop is not meant to be easy. Let developers make the most of us being discussing things in an open fashion and take their own decision whether to join or not.

But anyone regardless of their technical knowledge can also support our seasteading ambitions, - if you like the idea of building floating cities, - simly by joining this group on G+ Country of Dream This community is for those who love their native countries and also have a dream about a world where everyone has equal opportunities to live on land or on seas. Its aim is to let users do posting about countries best to live in and about emerging seasteads. the hope is that the more we cover living in seasteads the more people will get to know about this new emerging way of life.
