I randomly bumped into this website: cryptoinfluence.io
They give these crypto YouTubers a score to indicate their "credibility?" I guess
It also has a scammer list

but

In my opinion, these people are just regular people expressing their personal opinions, there should not be any credibility nor should they have a lot of influence.

Well anyhow, just find that interesting to see what's your opinion on if you trust these crypto "influencers" and if you do, what are some good influencers that you follow, would like to see what they have to say.
Social media influencers can be a good asset for the business especially if the influencer has a lot followers.

sometimes their analysis is interesting and view at a different angle, can take as a reference but not rely on it .

I wouldn't trust the influencers but will take their analysis and information into consideration when evaluating ICOs. Though some influencers may deliver false information due to the tie with the projects, I believe most will do honest reviews.

LOL. Its pretty obvious that those so called influencers are just joining the bandwagon before it exploded. So I haven't seen anyone credible enough, not even John McAfee who was touted as a big influencer on the crypto verse right now but you can see that he is actually a bag holder so it only makes sense for him to schill his invested coins.

Well anyhow, just find that interesting to see what's your opinion on if you trust these crypto "influencers" and if you do, what are some good influencers that you follow, would like to see what they have to say.

I wouldn't call Andreas Antonopoulos, but he is more credible than others that I known off. Or perhaps Vitalik himself, the man behind Ethereum. But in Youtube, Nah, we have more experts here than anywhere else in the social medias.

There has definitely been an influx in crypto influencers especially on YouTube and social media, we talk about one in particular, Brock Pierce, in our blog post and how he's having an impact on this community-- bit.ly/BrockPierceInfluencer

But for the most part, proceed with caution when looking toward online influencers. Rule of thumb in the crypto world is to always do your own research before getting involved in anything that an influencer might recommend.

Cheers!

What do you mean by influencers? If you mean by that is about manipulators, no you should never, because there are too many and situation may always does not support them, so you can follow.

Unfortunately, often the market manipulators come across to the general public as consultants who just happen to be very good at trading. It's not like they put "Market Manipulator" or "Pump and Dumper" on their Twitter profiles. But some of them have been caught red handed using their subscriber base as fodder for their manipulation schemes. In some cases, their subscribers have been paid subscribers, which makes that abuse all the more blatant.

If you follow an influencer and they start promoting a coin, ask why before you buy.

Besides for Youtube and other social media influencers, how do influential people’s opinions, such as Richard Branson, Bill Gates, and on the flip side, Warren Buffet, on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies affect the volatile nature of the exchange rates and the general public opinion of crypto? Is it a good or bad effect due to them being a more credible source of information as they are distinguished people in their own rights rather than Youtube sensations who can get these “paid followers” to make themselves look legit?

You should never trust only one people's opinion. Do your own research and invest in what you believe, not what people told you.

If their influence really speaks volumes then why they weren't successful at all? For the most part, these people are only paid shills by a certain ICO/coin to do all the shilling they can in order to lure some people in buying their scam coins. Influencers are just another glitzy term for 'paid shills' at this time and age, and if they weren't able to express any form of intelligence/knowledge about crypto in general, then there's no point listening to them anymore. I'd rather trust my own intuition rather than paid actors for my money's sake.

I trust only those whom I know personally. Influencers - can help you to learn faster if you use info from them in a right way, considering, checking and rechecking.  I listen different people who are more experienced than me, trying to understand new thing to me and make my own estimations. I used to make my own decisions and actions based on my own feeling even if they are not successful.

I think the oft-used adage here is: Only put in what you're willing to lose.

There's certainly merit to listening to other peoples' advice; and influencers can be helpful and provide insight, despite the risk of being a scammer. But just like ICOs engage in KYC/AML, buyers and investors should be doing the same. And at the end of the day, it's you who pulls the trigger.

A good practice in the analog world with investment bankers and funds are that they "advertise" their overall returns. Maybe that's something more crypto investors and advisors will adopt as this space progresses?  Smiley

I think we can listen to their advice. That's cool as long as you do your own research. If you think that project is great and hear it from some of the well known people, it only boosts your confidence.
Btw, strange that Vitalik isn't there. At least I didn't find him.

You have to be very careful. There are scammers, but also a lot of well meaning people with loud opinions and egos who don't necessarily know what would be best for you.

There is definitely a need for solid and objective cryptocurrency education. For that, I recommend DNotesEDU.com. This week, they are running all kinds of contests and giveaways, including hiding DNotes private keys on their website. There are a couple threads about it in the Beginners and Help section. Here is the main one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cryptocurrency-education-week-3281937

Even when they are not giving away DNotes, you can count on DNotesEDU being objective and factual. Their goal is to provide a place where people can really learn and not be scammed or in any way pressured into any particular "investments."

As far as who to trust, I personally don't care if they are a big name or not. I look at what they are actually accomplishing and if they are willing to share what they know. The people I most respect in this industry, many of them aren't well known yet, but they are building solid projects.

For good examples of solid cryptocurrency projects, check out DMD Diamond, DNotes and NEM. I believe those projects are all in it for the long haul and will accomplish great things, not to mention all the coins are way undervalued right now.

Disclosure: I hold coins in all the above projects... for good reason Smiley

Nah. Almost every single one of them is full of shit and clueless to boot. It's very depressing to see these nothings gather huge followings and the resulting influence over them when they have contributed or achieved fuck all.

Very, very few are in this for the good of humanity. They want to pile up as much money as possible in as short a time as possible with little thought as to how they do it. And there's no shortage of morons willing to enable them.

That site is really just an "influencer" on crypto "influencers" lmao. Both can be shills and you'd be none the wiser. It doesn't really even rate credibility.

But yeah, you typically should trust no one when it comes to (very specific) investment advice. General guidelines on how to go about trading should be fine, but even that should be scrutinized first. What you need to know about crypto is a lot of things relating to price movement is guesswork. What makes you think they can guess better than you do?

Hello yumiya,

We understand that in the crypto-community it is very difficult to find the difference between genuine advice and paid promotional talks. We suggest you always do your own research and compare news and statements across multiple sources. In the following post here we stated some sources which are well established in the crypto-community. They are not monopolies on the truth, however they have proven themselves to be relatively neutral.

Always remember that you have to do all your research yourself and never put your trust in one source only. This is also one of the advantages of online forums like bitcointalk or reddit. On these forums there are many different opinions on a topic and usually people back them up with the necessary sources. Discussing a topic here will not only get you these different perspectives but it can also really help you get a better understanding of all the factors involved.

With kind regards,
The Anycoin Direct team

Well it is very disappointing that you cannot trust anybody, because then you cannot make any good decision untill you try and not succeed yourself.

Personally I do not like the word "influencer" as it is not well-defined, and is often used by scamers to hide their real purposes.  Anyone can claim s/he is an "influencer" without any qualification nor responsibility, trying to prey upon people who are new to crypto world.  Do not trust them.

Well, the problem with many Youtubers is about the money they perceive for doing some statement.
Besides, who is giving them credibility? I mean: in this website, you can search for "credible ones", but if they mention the website, then, are they becoming credible?
The problem with influencers is related to their own name: influence. They can influence people, but few of them openly speaks about why or how are they obtaining the information or the opinion they share.
It becomes more and more problematic as much subs they have, for they have many offers to make some profitable videos. They are just like actors in a commercial, but with the difference, they don't mention their employees very often.
Nevertheless, it is easy to detect whose Youtubers are getting paid for their opinions. Well, of course, it is easy only if you are deeply into the crypto world, but, to the average population it can't be so easy, and that's where the trick resides. They can influence many people, and few go down and read the comments below the video, so it is difficult for average people to become a critic.

I've taken a look at the page you suggested and many of them are clearly influencers with a wallet full of contracts. So, no. Do not trust this.

Definitely not. Never trust anyone in the crypto space, mainly if the user is a "influencer" that probably got paid to shill an ICO or shitcoin.

Some of them really care about helping the new investors, but the majority of them will accept the first "shill X ICO" offer that they get once they get big.
