When something you don't want to see shows up in that list, open it and leave. it will leave your list. Hopefully, eventually the thread will die and not show up again. Only way I have found

Yeah it seems like that is the only way.  Thanks

There are a few threads that are absolutely annoying me.  I don't want them to show up in my "Show new replies to your posts" area.  I tried clicking "unwatch" but they still come up when people comment/post in there.   How can I once and for all get rid of specific ones?   Thanks in advance.

As others have stated, it's not possible to remove threads from the list, unless you go in and delete all your comments in the thread that's annoying you. Which is a pain in the ass all on it's own.  Can use the watchlist, but I've never looked into how it works.  I tend not to bother commenting on certain threads because I know they will just show up later down the road, LOL!

Other question: Where can I find the "Show new replies to your posts" area?

Thanks.

I don't understand why anyone would not use the watchlist. You can configure the watchlist to be exactly the same as "show new replies to your posts" by configuring your posts to be auto-watched and adding your posted-in topics to your watchlist. After this is done, you can unwatch topics that you don't want to see.

I think this is not possible. The only thing I know to ignore sub-boards is:
