In saying that though, some advertisers pay after the time period. I wouldn't be too keen on advertising for someone without upfront payment, but that's just me.
Some of them are kind of annoying, others less so. How much do they usually pay?
Well, I just sold a slot for the first time, got paid within the hour to an address that I posted in the topic. Too easy.

So long as they aren`t particularly obnoxious, I like the idea. I`d be more than happy to earn a few bits selling my sig, but I`m too new for anybody to care.
They give people oppurtunities to earn a few bits as well as showing services that exist that we may never of heard about.
I really like it. Give the power to the people. It's not intrusive, but effective. Everyone is happy. 
I don't find them all that intrusive, and they keep the coins flowing around the forum which is good. I'll eventually sell my signature out to the highest bidders.
