That would be quiet an aggressive position on coins, you must be including some numismatic value to junk silver coins.
Melt would be closer to 10 x face, for just the silver content.

The calculations Lesbian Cow is using is very fair, and consistent across the industry.  Outside here and on a normal coin or PM forum you will see very similar buy/sell offers and pricing.

Melt value is subjective to a degree.

There is the actual melt value of the silver, which is what coinflation represents.

Then there is the resale value of said silver when going to sell it either private party, coin shop owner, or refiner.  Depending on who you sell it to, and their purpose with it, you will get different percentages below melt offered.

I based my estimate on what I have seen for sale or have purchased recently.

Here is an example from today:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Pmsforsale/comments/3de2e1/wts_silver_sterling_tray_at_spot_1508_2130_in/

Assorted US 90% at 12.7 FV.

I would buy the lot of 90% US Junk from the OP at 12 x FV assuming he can produce photo proof he has possession of the coins, a list of what exactly he has, and is willing to use OgNasty escrow.

Edit to add:  SuperTenth is showing out for delivery!

Hi,

Assuming all are in cull condition, and no key dates, a good price for 90% US junk (the Wikipedia list posted up thread accurately names 90% coins) is 12 - 12.5 times Face Value (FV).
ie:  1 $ of face value would be sold for the equivalent of 12 - 12.5 USD in BTC

The Morgans, again assuming cull condition, 15 USD each.

Is there any interest in some older US silver coins. Mixture of denominations from 1930 thru 1966. Some Morgan dollars also. Coins are in ok condition, so melt value probably.

I would be looking for about 15$ per ounce in Bitcoin.

If there is interest I will post pics etc.

Willing to escrow.

That would be quiet an aggressive position on coins, you must be including some numismatic value to junk silver coins.
Melt would be closer to 10 x face, for just the silver content.

I will take all your selling at melt value.  You can either send first so I can verify amount of silver or we can use escrow.

Please let me know.

The quality of what he is selling is not based on the condition of the coins. Someone would buy them because they want a straight investment in silver or if they need to make something out of silver and plan on melting down the coins.

Sure you might want to make sure the coins exist however escrow should obviously be used for the protection of both parties.

Either way, I would prefer to see them first.

anyone interested in this deal would need to know exactly how many are newer than 1964. and what they actually are.

'65 and '66 coins would be 40% silver, if any at all.(very few have silver)

spot x .9 is like 13.80 round about there.

spot x .4 is like 6.20 or round about there.

So pics, or a detailed inventory would be prudent.

This list helps show which years have what silver content.  It looks accurate to me.

He is selling it for the melt value, why would you want pics of the coins?

I'm not one to buy things blindly without at least laying eyes on them first.

Secondly, do you know if they are all 90% silver?  That makes it easier as every $1 face value there is 0.715 troy oz silver.

IE 4 90% quarters=0.715 troy oz=$1 face value
