Topic: Since we don’t have a merit source, could it be beneficial to post in English? (Read 138 times)

I just wanted to share something I read today. According to an article published on "2023-02-11," the Philippines ranks in the top 10 for crypto ownership worldwide. It might have increased or slightly decreased since it’s 2023 data, but regardless, it shows one thing, there should be a lot of potential users here on the forum who can become active. This way, we can raise more awareness and share insights or opinions on certain topics.

With this information we’ve seen, I’m even more motivated to help boost activity here on the forum. Like I’ve mentioned before, even if we don’t have a merit source, as long as we work together, we can bring back the energy in our local board without the spam. Let’s be optimistic.

Kaya nga I get the point for what op wants to emphasize here.

Theres is an active merit source application si crwth. Still, until now there's no approval yet, and afaik there's no other merit application requested in meta after this to our local reason why only a few members left here just to read and still have a merit circulation activity. I think it's a good initiation if we start again to make more active so newbies from our local get encouraged to join us here.

Dati nakikita ko active pa nga yung thread ng basketball dito eh pero now halos wala na, as per checking din sa ranking ng merit circulation is isa tayo sa may pinaka mababa.

It's okay. If I remember it right, there were campaigns in the past as well that have allowed posts in the local boards but it should be in English language. And we don't have rules about restricting everyone to post in English here, so whichever language, Tagalog or English, as long as the conversation goes on and there's a value for each post that's made it is fine.

Smiley

The idea came up because we have limited merits here, and not all of them go to this board. It serves a double purpose though...personally, I’m more comfortable using English, and since our audience isn’t all from Manila or Tagalog-speaking regions, I know Visayans are often more comfortable with English than Tagalog too. So, using English helps us reach a wider audience. But of course, I don’t have any issue with Tagalog posts or replies, as long as the goal is to help the local community become active again.

Why do we need to earn merit? Well, that’s the only way we can reward active posters who contribute to the forum. That way, they’ll feel encouraged to keep posting, and eventually, we’ll grow even more, especially when more people learn how to become contributors to the forum overall.(I'm referring to our local here.)

Just a suggestion, but there’s no rule against posting in English here, right? If we don’t have a merit source, it might be easier for external merit sources to see our threads and posts if they’re in English. They won’t need to translate, so it could increase our chances of receiving merits from them.

What do you think, guys? I’m planning to get more active in our local community again, and I hope we can all work together to bring some energy back.
