I don't think that's the way to put it. There are many factors that affect the price of btc and doubt that some skin in the game affects it

What is wrong with people exposing a small percentage of their investment capital to have a skin in the game, with a small investment into Crypto currencies? Nobody is holding a gun to people's head and forcing them to invest into Bitcoin, people are doing this by themselves.

I would much rather have some skin in the game, than simply standing on the side and looking at other people making large profits in the future, because I was too scared to invest a little bit of money into Crypto currencies.  Tongue

I like this expression, skin in the game
It is widely used in traditional investments.

Any investment advice only makes sense if the "advisor " is invested in it. This is what skin the game is.

Bitcoin is not an exception. There are some venture funds where the managers are "all in" in their funds, and the customers (millionaires) demand it to keep their money in those funds.

Maybe it's not getting the attention it deserves because the phrase itself Skin in the Game, just like the movie or book of the same title, is a trend. Trends don't have lasting impact, especially not if based on a new Americanism (and no I'm not being racist). But survive ten years like Bitcoin, and then you have enough people using it to understand it.

For now, just doesn't quite have the ring of other more academic names I guess. But all the same, I'll add my thoughts in that thread. Thanks!

I've just stumbled in a cool post in this forum's Ivory Tower which is getting close to no attention there, so I'd like to bring it to the attention of a broader public:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/what-is-giving-bitcoin-its-value-the-ultimate-answer-is-skin-in-the-game-5174190

The main argument expressed there is that even more than Metcalfe's law, Skin in the Game is actually the real trigger of the resilience of value of Bitcoin and other crypto. I think this is a milestone post, anyone interested of what causes Bitcoin's value should give it a read.
