A skin can help protects devices from scratch and also help maintains the device shape, but it can not help in protecting your device from fall and other things that can cause damage to your hardware wallet. I will prefer hardware wallet case and  screen protector instead which I can get directly from the company that I bought the hardware wallet like Trezor. Hardware wallet is not what I prefer to have fancy look and can not be what I always move about like phone. Another issue could be privacy.

Having a new skin for a new hw is not necessary and to some its not important to change the skin of an old looking hw but, on the other hand, the brand is targeting people that love fancy things and their hardware wallet has to look new to them always. Alot of people will not bother to renew the skin so far their hardware wallet is still in a good condition -- that is what matters. And I belong to such category of people not only for hard ware wallet even phones the skin don't matter so much to me.

I'd recommend looking more into screen protectors instead of visual stickers.
Nice to hear your new Passport wallet is finally on it's way home.
You could probably make your own custom screen protector using one of those cheap smartphone glass protectors.
I am not sure how to cut this glass properly and avoid breaking in wrong places, and I never tried doing that, but this cost few bucks, you can buy it locally and you can practice until you make it  Wink
I won't have anything against having a full case protection for Passport wallet, just like there was old mobile phones cases for protection.

I already voiced my opinion that screen protectors would have a more tangible benefit than visual 'skins'.
Now that my new Passport Batch 2 is on its way, I will probably try EDC'ing it (in lieu of a software wallet) due to reduced thickness (weight we will see), which could definitely be a scenario where a screen protector makes sense.

I'd recommend looking more into screen protectors instead of visual stickers.

Would you buy a skin that would make your hardware wallet unique?

Since a HW is just a tool, since one should not brag about bitcoins hence this tool show be less visible, not more, sorry, but I don't see any good in such a skin.
And for my Nano S anti-scratch protection is not needed (probably not even produced).
So, sorry, but my answer is no.
You are right in your choice and it is not so important how the hardware wallet looks, but how it performs the functions of preserving its contents. You treat it from a practical position, while others may see it as an aesthetic necessity. There is a similar trend with mobile phones: for some, the appearance is indifferent, while others want cases with all sorts of bells and whistles. I don't want to catch up with fear, but if the manufacturer stops supporting the Nano S in the future, then no skins will be needed for your wallet.

I have toyed with the idea of somehow making or ordering a metallic case for my Trezor. I am the kind of person who likes to customize my belongings if possible and I would love to have a Trezor with a nice a tidy bronze or stainless steel case (not sure if include the name and logo of Trezor on it tho). The weight and sturdy feeling added to the device would improve my personal experience with it, I think. I am aware that this may not make sense in terms of security, it is a very personal thing, I assume.

To this day I have neither found a way to achieve this idea nor a clear grasp of a budget.
I would not like to hire a CNC workshop in my city, it is a little bit risky, but I assume CNC works abroad are more expensive, so for now I will have to stick to the plastic case, until I find a solution.

On the Trezor? The Trezor One has a texturized body which makes it very rugged against scratches, in my opinion.
Foil is on Trezor display.
The Trezor display doesn't scratch anyway; it can't, as there's no shiny plastic or glass on it at all. It is just a matte LCD and it's recessed, so chances of touching are slim anyway.
And if you do, it won't really scratch. You could pierce and destroy it, but a screen protector won't help with that, either.

One information I found recently is that Trezor made metallic case model and gave them to all their workers few years ago, and they sold some as anniversary edition.
That sounds nice! I guess it can be CNC-cut from one side, due to the simple shape, so higher-quality hobbyist machines could be able to do it.

I have high hopes for Passport batch 2 (still not arrived yet.. *sigh*) with glass screen!

This preorder thing was total delay disaster for Passport and I don't think they should do that again in future, even if it's probably not directly their fault, but still...
I hope you receive and test it before man-made global economic collapse  Grin
Yes, I am pretty certain that I'm waiting longer than for version 1 - but they faced tons of supply-chain delays due to the plague and other global events. Can't really fault them for that, and it has to be expected when preordering things.

I don't really care much about cheap plastic case, because they released .STL files as open source and I can always 3d print it in any color/material I want.

Many people reported scratches happening very easy for Bitbox02 and for first version of Passport hardware wallets.
Oh I've got to clarify this! It comes scratched, but doesn't get additional scratches easily. It must have been something in the production line, similar to the iPhone 5 (or something like that) 'scratch gate' back in the day, where a bunch of them came with a deep scratch on the back from the factory. It's actually tricky to find media coverage about it right now; I remember a few years back it was all over the net.

On the other hand, BitBox02 comes pristine and it feels like the moment you start to use it it has all those glossy-plastic microscratches (we all know those, right?) all over the screen.

I know some people still keep original foil on their Trezor wallets  Cheesy

It looks nice and I definitely see the appeal. It would also give some protection; in fact, I complained about BitBox02 build quality in the past (screen scratches) and suggested someone start making screen protectors for these wallets.
Yeah I just wrote about that, and I think you generally have problem with screen scratches on all your hardware wallets Wink

So it's great to see, but as it's a purpose-made product just for hardware wallets, we again run into the issue of preserving privacy / pseudonymity during ordering and shipping.
If instead, you get a custom-cut 'general purpose' piece of adhesive sheet somewhere, it's less likely to reveal what you are going to use it for.
I think they are selling stickers for other stuff also, like cars for example and general use stickers.
Yes, there are different places that can make you custom-sized and -designed 'generic stickers' that you could order as a screen protector, thereby avoiding doing a 'Bitcoin-related online purchase'.

Normally, my answer is "NO [I prefer to keep a low profile]", but considering that I can easily apply them to my hardware wallet, I might try such things for a change, but I'll send it to a P.O. box of some kind [having said that, I'll probably just buy a printer to create my own unique vinyl decals].
I don't care very much about case skins, but I would consider purchasing screen protection that can change text(screen color and protect screen from scratches.

These offerings might be more useful and sought for by companies though if they need different coloured keysigners to make them more identifiable for staff.
I saw ledger is making custom brand names on their metallic parts and they have cases in different colors.
Using skins in easier and cheaper than buying new device in different colors, and you can choose much more color options.

Me?  Nah, I wouldn't waste money on something that needs no dressing up whatsoever.  I don't know about anyone else (though I've read the replies so far), but I just do not give two shits if my HW wallet is made fancier.

Next someone will figure out a way to shoehorn all sorts of RGB lighting as a "skin" so the ADHD crowd has something to ooh and aah over whilst briefly looking at their HW wallet when using it.  And I mean, that's the thing.  I don't give much eyeball time to my worker-bee wallet; my main concern is plugging the fucking thing in as fast as possible and inputting the password so I can get on with my bizzy, y'know?

And HW wallets I collect....that would be sacrilege.

Would you buy a skin that would make your hardware wallet unique?
There is one website called Builtinvain selling products like this and you can buy them using cryptocurrencies.
They can be used to change the color for hardware wallet cases, and to protect screen from scratches and change text color.
Currently supported hardware wallets are Trezor model T, Ledger S,X,S+, Bitbox02, Dcent and Safepal.

Note that I am not affiliated with this website in any way, I just think this is interesting idea.

Can pay with crypto (what are the options?), but delivery is to a physical (shipping) address. Then it seems to me that this is a bad idea to buy if you care about your privacy, because this store (like any other) can be a vulnerable place for another loss of your personal data. I admit the possibility of buying similar skins if they were sold in a nearby supermarket.

Such skins for hardware wallets and adding to assortment should be taken care of by the original manufacturers, that produce Trezor, Ledger, Bitbox, Dcent, Safepal which you listed.

For trezor I think the case is just a basic plastic one you can pull apart and replace yourself (for the skepticism people have here, it's probably safer to get someone on an online marketplace who can 3d print to print a 3d model of the replacement shell and attach that on instead).

The colour altering feature looks like it could be harder to achieve though (unless you can get tinted screen protectors) so that might be a mode of personalisation people want.

These offerings might be more useful and sought for by companies though if they need different coloured keysigners to make them more identifiable for staff.
