I think there is a big opportunity with bitcoins for this type of service - it would allow a teacher in China (for instance) to offer their services and easily get payed from anywhere in the world.
The problem is that the average teacher and the average language learner knows nothing about bitcoins.
There needs to be someone in the middle who can make it easy for both parties.
Mandarin language students would be the easiest - it's very simple to move money from btcchina.com to any teacher in China who has a QQ account (ideally they would just take the bitcoins though).
