I can sleep with a buy order open, but I can't sleep with a sell order, I just can't sleep. I am most comfortable when I have my Bitcoins, and If I am day trading, I am always a tad anxious until I have my coins back. Good thing I don't do that trading stuff often. Its hard to resist though with a market like this one.

Went to sleep last night, and forgot I had an open sell order for $75

Wake up this morning with Bitcoin at $85 and my precious coins are gone... so sad.. LOL
Now I have to wait a lot until goes back to cheap coins so I can buy 'em back.

Anyone else forgot open orders when going to sleep (I mean, not doing it on purpose) and lost opportunities?
I've learned to think long and hard about having any kind of order siting over night. I had sold out a few bitcoins before the crash a few days ago and planned to buy back in lower. Instead of waiting I put a buy order in at $140 that night and forgot about it. I was tired and knew I shouldn't have but I did it anyway. I woke up the next day and saw the price very low ($60) and got excited to buy the coins back then I logged in and saw that I had already bought at $140. I was not happy lol.

It all depends. If you are constantly changing your orders, you are chasing the market which will have mixed success. You want to be ahead of the market.

lesson learned: login in all exchanges where you keep any value and check open orders before going to sleep Tongue

i had a sell order at $70 that I (replaced) after I saw the "crack and snap" on tuesday morning (the break below 54, then immediate retrace).   so then I moved it up to $80,  which sold about 12hrs later

ed: i don't like leaving unmonitored buy/sells for bitcoins, price changes too much

I didn't "lose" anything but an opportunity to have 10% more coins when I will buy cheaper. Nothing life changing, just mildly annoying.
My goal is to have more coins, not to cash out in old dollars. Wink

I can see us hitting the mid-70's again. The market is anything but confident right now - any attempt at a rally might be quite ragged.

At least you would've made a profit. I went to sleep with old buy orders open during the crash. Freaking Mt. Shocks wouldn't let me cancel them.
