Glad to see it fixed so quickly. Thanks theymos!
I will keep this thread open for a little bit longer just in case I or some other members notice the same happening again. If not, I will close it within a week.

I can confirm that it is fixed on the mobile version of Chrome as well. Done 10 min testing all seems fine, anyway I'll keep an eye on the issue just in case there still some more tweaks needed.

Unless it was you

It was.

There is another feature called "prediction" but that's been implemented for a while. Perhaps they tweaked the algorithm to be more aggressive.

I think the difference may be that they renamed the header that was sent, the old one being already blocked by the forum, but not the new one. Not sure, though.

Is it fixed now?
Unless you did some changes to the settings, yes, it's now fixed. I just noticed that it is no longer happening. I haven't downloaded any Chrome update in the meantime. Unless it was you, they fixed it without an update Huh

Updated the Chrome to Version 87.0.4280.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I got the issue from the first try.

Leave it to Google to break the internet LOL. Is it gonna read your PMs for you too? Grin

I don't think the forum can chance it if the browser causes it. It sounds like the browser downloads the links before you click them. I found Back/forward cache, but I'm not sure if that's what causes it.

This appears to cache only the page that you visited so that you could get back quicker. There is another feature called "prediction" but that's been implemented for a while. Perhaps they tweaked the algorithm to be more aggressive.

I think that's it: Chrome is guessing that you'll visit the page, and prefetching it in advance.

Is it fixed now? I'm trying to block these prefetch requests, but I'm not sure whether I'm getting them all, since I can't find good documentation on the headers Chrome is sending.

It is Chrome related bug not a forum one and it's annoying.

I just tired it on my Chrome but didn't see anything weird. I haven't browse the Development & Technical Discussion today so all the comments in the threads are new and unread.
But did you actually open any of the threads in that sub-forum or any other to check what happens with the highlighting? For example, if you open the maxconnections for Internet thread, the I'd like to deepen my knowledge about bitcoin thread (underneath it) would also be made to look like it was also read. Check out SFR10 video that he posted.

OK, here is update.

I tried it on a laptop which i don't use so often and has no addons on it, with Chrome Version 86.0.4240.198 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Couldn't replicate the error for at least 10 min of playing with it.

Edit, it's happening on the mobile Chrome as well.

I believe it's a bug since I was able to replicate it in multiple boards:
Nice work, that is exactly what I meant. I assumed that it happens on other boards as well, thanks for checking. On a different note, I am going to PM you regarding your IDM manager. I'd like to ask something.

@Admins
Were any forum settings changed that could cause this? I am certain that this wasn't happening 2-3 days ago. There has also not been a Chrome update in the last couple of days that might have messed something up.

Is it a glitch of some sorts? Has anyone else noticed it?

Are you sure you didn't have it opened in another tab, or perhaps marked as read in your watch list?
I am absolutely certain that I didn't. I just tried the same thing on various browsers. The bug doesn't seem to be present on Firefox. Opening a thread doesn't mark the one just below it as read. But on Chrome, and probably on other Chromium-based browsers, it does. I guess you used Firefox on your end? Try it on Chrome and see if the highlighting will disappear on the thread immediately below it.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.
If you really never clicked the other thread (accidentally or consciously), then it's I guess that's really a bug. I never experienced such before though.

Or maybe you have the side mouse buttons the forward and backward and you accidentally clicked the thread "ollard's kangaroo ECDLP solved", then you just go back to the mainboard and eventually clicked the "setting up full bitcoin node". Ah, I guess this isn't the case.

I am sure it wasn't like this before, because I often refresh boards I am reading to see the newest posts on top, and it has never happened before. Is it a glitch of some sorts? Has anyone else noticed it?

No, I tried the exact same thread and it didn't mark the other one as read. Are you sure you didn't have it opened in another tab, or perhaps marked as read in your watch list?

I think I found a small bug while browsing in the Development & Technical Discussion sub-board.

When you open a sub-board, and there are new posts and threads you haven't opened yet, the subject titles are highlighted in a dark blue color right? As soon as you open a thread that contains posts you haven't read yet and refresh that same sub-board, the dark blue highlighting is gone from that particular title. All good so far.

But there seems to be some kind of bug right now that removes the highlighted titles even if you haven't opened that particular thread. More specifically, it removes the highlighted subject title of the thread below the one you accessed last. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Here is a picture to explain what I mean

The last topic I read before making this screenshot was "setting up full bitcoin node," and as you can see the highlight is missing from it, as it should be. But the topic just below it ("Pollard's kangaroo ECDLP solver") is also not highlighted as unread although I never opened this thread today.

I am sure it wasn't like this before, because I often refresh boards I am reading to see the newest posts on top, and it has never happened before. Is it a glitch of some sorts? Has anyone else noticed it?
