target="_blank" can be added with or without the rel attribute noopener or noreferrer, but it will leave a potential risk for the forum's security if this rel attribute(s) are not added.
Thanks.

This is why it was removed originally.

I think that noopener noreferrer would be a non-issue to be honest, well worth links being opened in a new tab by default.
Thanks for pointing me to that thread.

Me too, that's why I usually use my middle mouse to open a link in a new tab. Currently, this gives me the option to choose between using the same tab and opening a new tab.
Hmm, this is the only option left I guess. The easiest way!

However, when the forum decides this for me (just like the Merit button), I can't choose and I'm forced to open a new tab. So I prefer not to change this.
There is nothing more to write except to accept what forum has decided a long time ago.

I think the purpose of this thread has ended, locking it now.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.
If I'm not mistaken then target="_blank" can be added only without rel="noreferrer" attribute? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

https://bit.ly/387FXHi lightning theory
Theymos bypasses ad lockers displaying url by using a referrer so you'd get stuck on a static page with the no referrer or he could do something where you get taken forward in a separate tab and back in thst one but that's a bit advanced...

And I guess that's one of the reasons why theymos didn't add the target="_blank" as the rel="noreferrer" attribute will be added also and it may have some effect for tracking forum ads.

Wouldn't a referrer be useful for companies tracking where their traffic is coming from? I'm sure they'd been keen to know that advertising on Btalk actually garners results. Or is that not what you're removing by "noreferrer"?
Yeah, that's the downside of using noreferrer attr so no info from the referrer will be tracked by any analytic tools but as the forum prioritize its security then I guess its worth to add. And if it's implemented maybe you can add this one as well rel="noopener noreferrer" on the anchor element for security purposes, I know you know it already, just to add up.

I guess they could just use url.com/utm_campaign_x in their url, although i don't think all of them do so.

Current forum ads and signature ads take us away from Bitcointalk when we click an ad. I mean the site opens in the same tab.

Can you please make it open to another tab (target="_blank"), I hope this is the only attribute needed to make the change.

I like links to open in a new tab, not sure about the fellow members, please share your thoughts about it.
