It would take BTC guild and GHash.io and all the miners in those pools to perform a 51% attack. That's not going to happen....

in other words: mtgox employees.

Mt.Gox has isolated itself at the moment. What is currently going on is likely targeted at others.

The transactions are for the same amount, going to and from the same addresses.  One is valid, one is not, so the network accepted one, but not the other.  That's how it's supposed to work, right?

The attackers are hoping that some people will look at the transaction ID to confirm a payment was made, rather than looking at the final balance. It is not a 51% attack, but unsuspecting users can still be tricked.

No, that's not a 51% Attack. It has absolutely nothing to do with mining.

Also:

"Attacker" is only able to change the TX-ID, not the TX itself. correct number of coins still goes from the correct send address to the correct receive address.

It can be a problem for automated programs that check for the TX-ID instead of the address and it's annoying.

So nothing to really worry about, but it needs to be addressed.
