Is it safe to purchase Bitcoin at the moment or not? If so, where is it safe to purchase from and what method is safest and secure? I heard BitInstant is lagging right now. Anyone completed successful transactions with BitInstant recently? And by recently I mean in the last day or two. Is BTC-e safe to use?
I believe your safe, but its ultimately up to you.

Thanks for replying! I asked this a while back since many were complaining about BI's service I later used it three times no problem. I appreciate you replying to this, however. The only problem I'm having now is trying to verify my ID on the new site. I answered all question correctly and was still denied acceptance. I was told to re-try in a week. Which, come to think of it, has gone by now. I'll give it another shot in a moment and hopefully I'm given the okay.

Thanks for the reply. But will I at least be getting my coins eventually? If I may ask, what methods are you using to purchase coins at the moment?

We had some issues (understatement of the year) with launching our new site that caused delays on orders placed when the new site first went up, current orders should work fine however and the backlog of orders from earlier in the week is being cleared quickly.

I know this is an old topic, but if you are concerned about leaving paper trails; localbitcoins is your best bet.

Bitinstant also cost more.  Usually you can buy at market price on local.

If you want to be VERY anonymous; do an OTC trade online.  This way you only interact with the seller online and you don't deal with any banks or exchanges that have a lot of your information.  No paper trail and no face to face.

Anyone else have good response from BitInstant?

Not lately.  They used to be on top of things, but nowadays it seems like there's no way you're getting your coins in under 24hrs.

True I opened an account there but then that raises trust and safety issues with the seller in cases of over the counter purchases. For example if you live an a somewhat dangerous are purchasing bitcoin over the counter might be pretty scary especially if one starts to get ideas about possibly getting mugged. I'll check it out and give it a thought though.

try localbitcoin.com for fast over-the-counter bitcoin.  Less fees, faster transactions, no verification by banks. Bitcoin at it's best, IMO.
