I'm curious to see what's the justification and thought process of calling someone a traitor for not seeing Russia as an enemy.
Russia (Putin's regime specifically) is purposefully trying to undermine US elections so it doesn't really matter whether any particular individual sees it as an enemy or not. Its
actions are hostile and US persons aiding such actions can be traitors, and legal due process will provide justification (or not).
Is it though?
I think Cambridge Analytica and Facebook played a much larger role in helping trump get elected.
Trump's team had access to the most sophisticated data anyone could have had at this point, and the people affected by this scandal weren't even aware that their data could be accessed. Both of these companies were western based.
To argue that Trump himself has a connection to Russia doesn't stand on its own. There are some parallels but also I think it's part of politics. Biden and the Democrats stand behind very different policies for these issues. For instance Biden has very close connections in the Ukraine. Is that also treason? And if the American people disagree with these decisions and want to make peace with Russia why should a presidential administration stop them?
Treason is typically about acting against the government one has pledged allegiance to. Harming individuals or groups of people is likely a different crime.
To me also Jan. 6 seemed so odd. Trump refusing to concede the election sounded like something had gone too far even for him.
Treason? Maybe. By some interpretation of the events someone could say that trump was asking for a government overthrow, and therefore betrayed the government he was supposed to serve even in stepping down.
But also it appears as though his country's supreme court already preemptively acquitted him of all the charges. Presidential immunity lasts forever and for everything, as per the judges Trump and his party had appointed. Of course this "justice" system is very crooked when a president can commit crimes and appoint the judges who would have held him accountable. But as contradictory as it sounds, if we go by the system's rules and call Trump a Treasonous president, going by the system we also have to accept that he's also a person that can't be charged of nearly anything.
