we'll never know where the previous spamming came from, it could've been people pushing segwit or bigger blocks.

it's gonna be rather easier the next time around with 2x, or its rejection looming with the added addition of a new chain to drive people to to 'save' from these high fees.

do you think we're gonna see an absolute spam apocalypse from bitmain and buddies as november approaches and look shaky or will bitcoin cash be dead meat by then whatever?

Ask Bitstamp. Someone here showed me an account from which high frequency transactions were generated and the location was Luxemburg. That's where Bitstamp is located.

Having said that the problems were timed perfectly with a large increase in bitcoin adoption back in May June. No need to look much further than that imo.
